I booked a private session with Sarah, who's based in Manhattan Beach. She was so accommodating about coming to my house in Silverlake--it made the experience much more personal at the outset. After our session I felt so relaxed and all the tension had melted away. I was in a constant state of zen the rest of the day. Sarah met with me at the end of the week so I felt all of the stress and anxiety I had hung on to throughout the week immediately release; I felt more joyful and grounded. But the fact that I'm still thinking about this experience months later should tell you something about what Monique can do. You won't be getting a New-Agey music concert, and you won't be getting a bunch of discordant, disconnected sounds that distract you from the treatment, either. As an adult on the autism spectrum, I've been unusually sensitive to sound for as long as I can remember, and I was worried at the time that some of the sounds would be jarring or actively painful- they weren't. Not all of the sounds were pleasant to me, but it was more like the feeling you get when someone's massaging a difficult muscle, or the sensation that the aspirin you took is starting to get to work on your headache- like there's something bad being worked out of your body, not something negative and painful being imposed on it. What I got out of the treatment wasn't flashy or dramatic, but it was amazingly helpful: I had an easier time staying calm and feeling positive about things, and my brain worked more efficiently, cruising from one task to the next without getting bogged down in unnecessary details, unhelpful worries, or general executive dysfunction. I'd love to try this again. In the meantime, if you're thinking about trying a sound bath, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Monique- she's knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and extremely good at what she does.

I had attempted to go to an in person class here a while back but street parking was difficult to…read morefind so I ended up driving away. When I looked at the class schedule online I noticed they have live digital classes. Awesome! Now, I was so happy I could do my meditation class at home and not have to worry about parking or traffic. For me, this was the perfect situation! I chose the Miracle Meditation class. I emailed the front desk and they signed me up. Super easy. The class was a half hour long. I was e-mailed the Zoom link 15 minutes before class. Super easy. No technical issues. When I logged on I was relieved that they had already turned off my camera and microphone so I didn't have to worry about doing that. The class started right on time. Shayna was the teacher. She was very calming. We started with some breathing exercises and then did a meditation on the crescent moon and the rising sun. The class was relaxing and a nice way to start my morning. If you don't live close or you are a busy person like me I suggest trying out the digital classes at Unplug Meditation. It will ground you, improve your mental health, and increase your focus.

Yoga mats were perfectly laid out, all in calming pastel colors, with gold balloons that spelled out "BREATHE." Jamie passes out "Grateful" cards that we fill out after the session, long stem roses, and bracelets with a statement "Breathe. You are a Gift."
