The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched inn with family, beer garden, childrens play area and ample parking. The beer garden is where we like to crash and relax. While the kids play on the apparatus we chill with a ool drink in the sun and order from the menu full of lovely food and they always have plenty of specials on the board all made using the freshest local ingredients. It is situated in a little village called Trebellan, near Cubert, less than than 15 minutes from Newquay. You approach down a steep, high sided road which is typically Cornish and the pub is right before you and very welcoming. They have regular live entertainment and also have an annual Real Ale and Pie Festival which is is it's 9th year. It's definitely worth pulling off the beaten track and seeking it out for a refreshing treat.

We sampled a coffee and local Cornish ciders on draft which were lovely. Cosey wooden style modern pub with friendly staff. The location is unique and supreme. If you have dogs come and walk them on the beach and then stop for a pint..dogs are allowed.

By sitting outside I had a prime view of seagulls picking over other patrons leftover lunches. Baked Beans, Tomatoes, bacon, egg, chips and mushrooms were devoured with their thrown back neck eating style. They don't like eating their greens though; someone should speak to their mothers.

YOU WOULD BE HARD PUSHED TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH A BETTER RATE CONSIDERING THE TOWN IS AN ACTUAL HOLIDAY RESORT!!! We also had a balcony room and although it was overlooking the car park area there were also views over the countryside. As for the breakfast, we couldn't complain, we were up early everyday of our stay to make the most of the surf so never missed it! The hotel also has a 4 star rating so they must be doing somehting right! Anyway, we've booked again for next year and will probally turn up for NYE also

There are several staircases and no lift so be prepared. I can only comment on the room I stayed in, and though it was clean it was vey small, especially as they knew we need space to fit a travel cot. The room did have a balcony which was good but our view was just of the car park. I believe there are rooms with a sea view though. The staff were very friendly and helpful so absolutely no complaints there. Breakfast was good, however the time slot in which it was served was very short which was a little inconvenient. The hotel has a restaurant should you want to eat in, though we didn't try it. There is also a pub/bar at the front which was o.k. There is a car park and their website says it has enough room for all guests not true. There was a cycling event on while we were there and the hotel was fully booked and there certainly wasn't enough room (even if you all park blocking each other in which is what happened every night).

The Twyarnhayle in Perranporth is another of those Pub Pub's, big screen TV playing sports all day,…read morelagers on tap, carvery on sundays and plenty of outdoor seating for in the summer, its just off the carpark through the town. It's a friendly enough place and we usually go in for a hot baguette and chips after a long walk across the beach, the food is well priced tastes good enough. They sometimes have bbq's and grills in a small outdoor booth in the summer when it's warmer that serve drinks and cocktails to really lose those sunday afternoons.
