The White Horse Tavern was the first of six hotels I stayed at over the course of a week in the United Kingdom. And dare I say, it was among the nicest of them and a great place to rest after an overnight flight from New York. I arrived here around 3:30 PM and was greeted in the lobby by one of the owners, who cheerfully showed me to my room and explained hotel policies. Room 9, while small, was perfect for my needs as a single traveler. The room was bright, the bed comfortable, and enough power outlets were provided for my things.
The following morning, I woke up to an excellent English breakfast in the hotel pub. One of the other owners greeted me as I walked downstairs in the morning and took my breakfast order. A few minutes later, bacon, hash browns, toast, and tea were sitting in front of me, easily the best free hotel breakfast I have ever had. This even beat out the Embassy Suites breakfast.
There aren't many times I've had a hotel room with better value than this. The Booking.com rate could have been paid with 15 British coins and many places would have charged at least 4 of those for a breakfast like was offered. If I'm back in the Telford area, I don't know why I would stay anywhere other than the White Horse. read more
