The white hart has done a very silly thing. About a year ago if you had asked me where is my favourite place to have a drink in buckingham, it would have been the white hart. It is spacious spreading across two large floors, there is plenty of seating, a large bar, a large dance floor, sports in the day, Dj's in the evening and friendly efficient staff. Not only that, but it has rooms upstairs (which i have never stayed in) as it is a hotel. The food was okay - the usual burgers and Blah plus chips - and the decor was pleasant. There is an outside area and the toilets are actually nice.
So whats changed? well, nothing. Not in terms of the pub anyway.
But the management has.
Firstly, they upped the age at the weekends to over 21's. As an over 21 that was fine, and to be honest - it was less busy but with same atmosphere so that was fine. But then they said that you had to be inside the pub by 10pm or no entry. Oh, and you cant leave and come back. Add to that the increased drink prices and you have a severe lack of customers. If you had visited the white hart a year ago on a sat evening it would have been HEAVING. now? empty. Recently, ten of us went there to give it a shot. we were the ONLY people in there. The white hart responded by making it over 18's again and being more leniant on entry times but no one has returned, sticking instead with The Junction which is cheaper and more easy going.
SO during the day for the footy, sure go here - and have some okay food. But if you are looking for a good night out head up the road to The Junction. read more
