I cannot say enough good things about our experience with White Emerson Mortuary during one of the most difficult times for our family. Jason, who helped us throughout the process, was incredibly patient, kind, warm, understanding, and accommodating. He made us feel genuinely cared for without ever being pushy or making us feel pressured to add anything to the service. He listened to what our family wanted, respected our wishes, and made an overwhelming process feel so much easier to navigate. The mortuary itself is beautiful and has such an intimate, peaceful atmosphere. One thing I especially appreciated was that when you are holding a service, it truly feels like the space belongs to your family. There aren't other services happening at the same time, so you aren't crossing paths with strangers or other grieving families. Having that privacy made such a difference and allowed us to focus completely on honoring my dad. What meant the most to me was how respectful Jason and the staff were of our family's Chinese-Cambodian Buddhist traditions. They welcomed our monks and accommodated our religious and cultural requests without hesitation. They turned off the illuminated Christian glass during our service so the space could better reflect our family's beliefs and traditions. They also allowed our family to walk through the mortuary with my dad as part of our final procession with him, which was incredibly meaningful to us. They even allowed us to bring in our own joss paper burner for our ceremonial offerings. Because it was still far too hot to safely transport after the ceremony, they graciously kept it there for us until we returned to pick up my dad's ashes. That may seem like a small detail to someone unfamiliar with our traditions, but to our family, their willingness to accommodate something so culturally important meant so much. There are so many decisions to make when you're grieving, and the last thing you need is to feel rushed, pressured, or as though your family's traditions are an inconvenience. We never felt that way here. We felt cared for, understood, and respected. Jason and the team at White Emerson gave our family the space and flexibility to honor my dad in a way that felt true to him, to our family, and to our culture. During such a painful time in our lives, they made everything as easy and seamless as they possibly could. My grandma died in OC CA in 2018. It was the 8th relative we expected to be buried at Rose Hills together with other relatives. It was also Christmas and the family member who wrangled control of decisions stated WhiteEmersons had a family emergency and nothing could be done till after the new year. Then we were told the ashes had been buried at Rose Hills. Then a headstone was placed at my grandmas grave but grandma did not appear on the " find a headstone registry". When I contacted Rose Hills they said they are waiting for my grandmas remains. It been 2.5 yrs and she has a headstone but it says grandma died cenotaph Cenotaph means no remain to bury or buried in a different location. Why would a funeral home notify Rose Hills someone died, then not take the person there? Where to even begin, I lost my best friend, my everything, my mommy on the 24th of June 2020 unexpectedly. She fought for over two hours but the doctors said there was nothing they could do. Our world came tumbling down and I have never felt more lost on this earth. The social worker quickly handed me the paperwork and asked that we take our time in deciding a mortuary as my mom passed in the hospital (PIH). I thought of rose hills given the popularity but one of the nurses suggested White Emerson. I trusted her in that moment given her sincere tone. I can't even begin to describe how thankful we are for that suggestion. The entire process, Richard, the person managing of the establishment along with Dan and Emily were a dream to work with. Richard has the sweetest voice and you can truly feel his warmth and empathy for families. The process was quick as we hoped and they were extremely accommodating despite current COVID restrictions. We had a very intimate ceremony with 25 people and they also hosted a Facebook live event for viewers at home and overseas. Price is not a factor when it comes to a loved one; however their prices are very reasonable and discreet in the sense that nothing was mentioned until after we handled everything the day of. Without a doubt, I'd recommend this place to anyone. That says a lot being such a sad, morbid time for my family and I but this place cannot go unnoticed. This review is long overdo, but warranted. My wife and I lost a close family member last year and were referred to White Emerson Mortuary. While the passing of a loved one was difficult, Paul and the staff at White Emerson certainly made such a painful experience a bit more bearable. Paul was very professional, respectful, patient, and compassionate as he helped us through the process of ensuring our service and tribute to our loved one was respectful and meaningful. He was very forthcoming in educating us about the entire process and guiding us through all the decisions we had to make for funeral arrangements, as well as very accommodating to our requests we had. I had always been wary that mortuary services might feel a bit cold and sales-like, but that impression was not true at all, as Paul's empathy truly made a tough moment at least a little bit easier as he helped us through making all necessary arrangements. Where to begin about the family at White Emerson. From the first call I made when speaking to Emily, I had already felt my troubles lifted. We were having issues with our previous mortuary, so I made the call to White Emerson, they swiftly removed my moms body from that mortuary to thiers as we felt at ease. My beloved son recently passed on 6/11 at only 7 months old. After visiting several mortuaries I came across White Emerson. Right when walking in we were kindly greeted by the front desk and offered us water and coffee while they looked for someone to assist us. Dan was the person who helped us.
