I asked the barista some questions and noticed that he was meticulously measuring coffee grounds by weight and tamping with precision. He was very helpful and willing to discuss the possibilities to help me land on my drink of choice. He proceeded to make me the best "dirty chai" I have maybe ever had. The chai is sourced from a small business in Bend. It was a perfectly spiced blend. The espresso was smooth and flavorful. It was so delicious I went back for another the next day. This establishment serves only beverages (as far as I could tell) but they are made with care and skill. Highly recommend.

Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. They're now just egg, cheese, and chorizo with pickled onions. No one mentioned that they were no longer vegetarian or that the recipe had changed so drastically. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I had no choice but to throw them away, so I ended up wasting $20 on a breakfast I couldn't even eat. I'm honestly really disappointed. I understand menus evolve, but when a longtime menu staple changes this much, especially from vegetarian to meat, it should be communicated clearly when ordering or at least noted prominently on the menu. Beyond that, the new version just doesn't justify the price anymore. It feels like a completely different product, and unfortunately not for the better. This isn't meant to be a harsh review because I've loved Ladder Coffee for years. These tacos were genuinely one of my favorite breakfasts in Spokane, which is why this was so disappointing. I got the seasonal brown sugar latte and the breakfast croissant sandwich. The latte was super tasty and the sandwich was even better. I was able to eat it while driving and it wasn't too messy. The spread on it was absolutely delicious! My friends both loved their drinks and sandwiches too. The cafe is super clean and easy to find. There's plenty of street parking. I only saw stairs to the front door but there may have been a ramp on the other side, I'm not sure. The bathroom is pretty clean and is gender neutral which we all appreciated. All in all this little cafe is lovely! If I'm ever in Spokane again I will make sure to stop by and support them.
