Earthbox is a garden center in Ellenton, Fl. off US-301 at 36th Street. The parking area is small…read morebut enough space for us during the week. I'm not sure how it would be on a weekend. Earthbox was developed by commercial farmers to make it easy for home gardeners. It is a type of growing system with self-watering containers that have a water reservoir built in that is capable of irrigating the plants for several days. The system says it doubles the yield, reduces water usage by 60% and uses 28% less fertilizer. I like that the box itself is made of recycled plastic and can be used year after year! The people working there are helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't know the tomatoes they had so someone helped me pick two. I also picked strawberry and broccoli plugs (already started small plant). They have classes on Wednesday and Saturday at 10am to explain the system and answer questions. I will definitely be back and recommend Earthbox Garden. I don't use the Earthbox system though will be looking into it. And this is the place to find out about it!

The lady who helped us never asked:, "have you been here before? ", "Are you an experienced grower?" "What brings you in today?" Nothing. Just came up and started pointing out how they do things now, which is different than the way I was allowed to do things there, previously. she didn't say I'm new; this is the way we do it now." She started explaining planting techniques I've literally known since I'm 4 yo. Also, first time anyone ever pushed soil purchase there. (Of course I was never asked if I was unhappy with my soil or whether I have problem growing.) It felt condescending and wasted my time. I was the only customer there. New Management?

We are very very happy with our new landscape, designed and installed by Amerson Landscape. Their…read moredesigner, Jack Kierney, met with us at our home and listened carefully as we described the look and feel of what we were looking for. We are new to Florida and don't know which plants do well here, so we really appreciated Jack's ability to translate our touchy-feely description to a beautiful, affordable, and practical design perfectly suited to our location, taking sun and drainage into account. Jack was on-site during the entire two-day installation, supervising and guiding his three-person crew. The crew clearly enjoyed working together and took pride in what they were doing. They were efficient, polite and kept the job-site tidy. The plants were all hand-selected and Florida-grown - all healthy and robust. The project was done on schedule and for the agreed-to price. Based on my experience, we whole-heartedly recommend Amerson Landscape.

In the front is a small gourmet coffee shop with a variety of pastries. The decor around the property from building to building gives a hometown country feel vibe. The next building is an indoor shop with tons of trinkets to decorate your garden and living space. Then onto the star of the show! The shrubbery, the trees, the succulents, the flowers. There is an indoor glass greenhouse with a variety of plants that thrive in low light and high humidity. When you exit to the outside sculpted walkway, you'll find pops of color that dazzle your eyes. I don't care if I was a carpenter bee or a bumblebee or a killer bee. I would definitely wanna live here.

I learned about it from a small air plant seller - Airplantation (actually it's the seller's home, not far from here) in 2023 - yes, all my purchase from Airplantation are doing well. This nursery suffered from the hurricane and are still recovering from its effects. The office is at the end of the road - everyone should go there to check in first. The young lady in the office said that this was a hobby her stepfather had started around 50 years ago. There is a long snake skin pinned on the wall, near the ceiling, that he brought back from Peru. I told her about snake banquets each autumn in Hong Kong, which I miss very much. They also sell beautiful driftwoods. Oh, the dusty road is unavoidable.

I really put my best effort but always tend to over love them. I found Wild Roots and immediately fell in love with the place. I spoke to the girl who immediately greeted me. Told her about my love of plants and my murderous ways and she graciously walked me through the plants she thought I'd be good with. She took her time and made sure I had a good understanding on the watering needs as well as the sun desires of these lovely things So I took my time, walked around, and found 1 plant to call my own. I could have bought an entire forest worth but I wanted to make sure I was able to take care of the one I had before I slaughtered their entire inventory. So far so good my plant is still alive. I've been listening to the advice I was given and I can't wait to go back and something else to add to my apartment to make my home feel even more green.
