We were given plenty of information about events at the visitor's center, and also here at the park. The grounds are very clean, nicely paved roads and lots. The bathrooms are huge! They have private showers with the bathroom, heated and apparently recently remodeled. You won't find that at your other parks! The hook ups for water and electricity are newer and nice. I went into the marina and although I feel like their prices are a little on the pricey side they have really nice stuff in there and a really nice deck to sit out on and see the gorgeous river. I highly suggest this place as a great area to have your best camping experience!

I had a great time here! My family did too!…read more We stayed in one of their cabins and rented four kayaks for a river adventure. Cabin was pretty good. Clean, well maintained, and ample amenities present. Mini split did a great job keeping up with the 94 degree heat outside. It had a covered back porch with chairs and a swing. Out front was a fire pit, a PK brand grill, and a picnic table. Great amenities. Comfy bed and all appliances worked properly. The kayak rentals are expensive in my opinion. But, they do have a market for them and I am sure the insurance and operations of this place cost a dime at least. I wonder how many people drown on the river a year. Hmmm. I'll have to research. I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat. The river was great. They moved our vehicle to the pick up spot for us. The process of getting the rentals was easy and efficient. I really enjoyed our day on the river. The gift shop has just about anything that you might need, and probably a lot that you do not need I would say. '26 - 105

Overall, Jack's is a great place to stay to be right on the water (although we couldn't see the…read morewater unless we walked out there as we stayed in one of the 4 queen rooms). Parking is not great for those rooms AT ALL!!! The mattress was extremely hard but some like that so that just depends on your preference. The room was small but we were only in there for sleep so not a huge deal for us. The bathroom was extremely small and hot but again, just there for sleeping. The AC was in the sitting room (no TV in there). Thankfully we brought our fan with us so it would blow air into the bedroom area. My main complaint would be the fact that they rent and shuttle THEIR kayaks or rafts but, even if you spend money to stay at Jack's Resort for the weekend, they don't offer you the option of paying them to shuttle your personal kayaks (that was what we went to that area for). They only shuttle if you rent the kayaks from them. So we had to go down to Angler's to get them to shuttle us up river. Next time, we will probably just stay at Angler's for that reason. On the plus side, JoJo's was a great place to eat and it was nice to be able to just walk over there.

If you are looking for a place on the White River to go Trout Fishing this is it. They have…read moreeverything you need for a very enjoyable time. I've stayed here several times over the years and they have always gone out of their way to help make sure I had an enjoyable time. Although Jack and his wife have passed on the family are still running things. They have everything you need to go fishing. You can rent a boat with a motor, fishing poles and bait. Or you can employ a fishing guide to take you out. They are independent contractors but, provide a terrific service at a reasonable cost. We always stay in a river side room that has a screened porch out the back. The resort is rustic but, very clean with a restaurant right next door. They also provide grills so you can cook what you catch for supper. Don't pass this place by.

Bugs were apparent both alive and dead - a can of roach spray was in the kitchen cabinet so they know they have a problem. Our unit reminders me of a fishing camp of Grand Isle in Louisiana - a place for guys and a lot of beer to over look the sub-handyman build outs. There are some nice views of the lake. My group talked about leaving for a real hotel at about 11:00 pm but everyone had a couple of drinks so we decided to stay. The place is somewhat a work in progress and there is evidence of renovation - hope they get it together. Note: the queen size beds in our unit seemed like double size - if we come again I will request a renovated unit and bring our own pillows.

We went for dinner and will never come back again. The food was bland, unseasoned, overcooked and undercooked. How is that possible?? Those Trout Poppers were almost cold and contained no trout. Overall, I'm just disappointed. I hope that someone from Gaston's reaches out, because when we put a complaint in, they didn't seem like they even cared. I will post a follow up if they do respond to me, because it appears they only respond to positive review.

We planned a father sons fishing trip with 2 other father and son duos. It was our 11 and 12 year olds first time to ever trout fish. We were told we would be able to wade out at the location. Unfortunately that was not true and the water drops off rapidly at the bank. That's ok, we fished from the bank. Only one trout was caught on our 3 days there but that's fishing. The amenities are a little less than you would expect given the price but again...it's a fishing cabin and certainly no resort. However, a mistake made during booking online is where our sub par experience turned to a terrible one. To keep it short and simple 2 kids under the age of 11 were left off of the online application. To which WE brought to the owners attention at check out only to have the owner state we were dishonest and charge an extra $240 to our trip. It is clear the owners here are not interested in your fishing experience but rather making as much money as they can while misrepresenting a so called grand fishing experience. I cannot in good faith recommend this place to anyone looking to catch fish from the bank, enjoy scenic White River views, or have a quality experience with family and friends.
