    White Beach Boracay
    Tom G.

Boracay is beautiful, it is small island that you can walk from one side to the other in about and less than 2 hours if you stay away from the mountains. it has several beaches, public and private resorts beaches too. But White Beach is by far the biggest and most popular beach in Boracay of the all the beaches and it's almost 3 miles long and divided into 3 sections, 1, 2, and 3. Clean clear warn waters and that is flat with no hard waves.  you have to walk over 100 feet before the water gets over your head . The sand fine and clean no shells, or seaweed and is re-clean nighty.  The beach walk is  wall to wall restaurants, and shops, hotels up to Luxury ones line up the beach with their own pools. And many activities to keep you busy and also a nightlife o the walking section parallel to the beach.  I did parasailing. helicopter ride, zip-line, sail boated, stand up paddle board, etc. and there were still things I didn't get to do like island hopping, horseback riding, and water activities like scuba diving and jet ski. I would also say this is now a family destination were a few years ago it was more beach party people, so bring the kids if they like water. The locals where all nice and English is the second language of the Philippines Sunset is beautiful on the beach or on the  small sailboats and always after 6, or 7 PM. You can get a sailboat ride for of one hour at the cost $10 US person, that are everywhere. You can book one on the beach and at many of the shops sell tour activities where you walk to or they pick you up. There is shops in town and off the beach a section 2 called the "D Mall" which is a concentration on winding streets instead of beach front. There are a few real good restaurants, and you can get buffets at most of the hotels. The foods are a cross between Asian, Italian, Filipino.  The cost outside of the hotel is more than the mainland but still less than what you expect to pay in the States for the same meal.

In January it is off-on raining. Usually it'll rain for a couple minutes then go away, so don't fret! The beach is very white sand and nicely cleaned up. Lots of kuyas and ates around trying to sell you some beach activities. Try the scuba ! It is a wild experience. Many shops along the beachside as well as restaurants and easy eats. No alcohol or dogs allowed on the beach per new regulations as it is pretty clean now. They e even added a trash/recycle/compost bin every couple areas. Pretty busy from 9am- 6pm and closes at 6pm ish/the security starts making sure everyone is out of the water by dusk. Lots of foreigners, Chinese, Koreans, Americans, Europeans, huge melting pot of people. Kind of reminds me of Hawaii/Waikiki but more spacious.

Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, White Beach in Boracay never fails to mesmerize me. White powder sand and shallow gin clear azure water is a given on any world class beach.... White Beach goes far beyond that. The fact that it faces west and enjoys a spectacular sunset every evening is also nice. Also the fact that even on a cloudy day, there are hundreds of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained. On a sunny day, there is a myriad of possibilities... parasailing, scuba diving, sailboats and paddleboards, or just chill on a lounger with a mango daiquiri. At night, the beach comes alive with al fresco dining, live music and fire dancers, and there is no shortage of beach bars to keep you in good spirits! It's really my favorite place on earth...and a place I proudly call home!

After what was probably a trip that took every -common- mode of transportation, we arrived in the dead of night to White Beach. To get to Boracay, you'll be taking a plane out of Manila, then onto a ferry, once you arrive you'll need to take a small taxi or tricycle to your hotel or to White Beach. Our trip started far in-land in the Philippines with a long bus ride, taxi, plane, another taxi, a boat, then another small taxi/tricycle. Good times. All about the experience anyway. Is it worth it? Heck yes. The sands are so white and soft. The water is clear and at various times of the year it goes from lapis to emerald. During the day there are tons of activities to sign up for ranging from cliff jumping to scuba diving, helmet diving, and even dressing up as a mermaid. We tried a few events, the helmet dive, island hopping with snorkeling, flying squirrel, and para-sailing. I would have totally done the cliff jump, but I'd be completely alone in that one, maybe. By far, my favorite event was the helmet dive. They send you several feet below the surface to a sandy area off shore where you can get photos taken of you feeding fish and just hanging out below the waters. It's really interesting. The helmet is fairly heavy and air is being pumped into it. You can take off the helmet while underwater too, just hold your breath. At the end they also give you a CD of photos taken by their divers. Tip: bring your own towels to this! They don't provide you one. Go pros and water proof cams work great. Hell... take a selfie stick. Why not? I'd recommend the island hopping if you're interested in exploring or just want something more relaxing. They stop off on several small beaches along the tour where you can eat at local-ish eateries. Fresh coconut water, fish, shrimp, all the seafood you'd want.. stuff like that. Just don't expect fine dining. This is bamboo huts and banana leaves and it's amazing. The guide will also periodically let you off for snorkeling. Feel free to use your own, but they have snorkels available. Also camera friendly. The flying squirrel is not something I'd recommend on your first day there. We got excited and thought.. oh, sure. Just fun. It's actually pretty serious upper body work out, that is if you don't want to tumble into the ocean. Basically, you cling onto a large kite like water tube. Up to 3 people can do it. If you are lighter you will go higher. As in, the air will get under you and you will be airborne. The flying part is fine, the coming down is rough. Not camera friendly! The nightlife here is surreal too. Music, fire dancing, the amount of seafood on display. Food ranges anywhere from local Filipino fare, to high scale dining, or standard looking American burger joints. There is also a Japanese restaurant in the area. Also all the buko and mango shakes you could damn well want.. my food staples. Once it gets darker, locals start coming out onto the sand and building extremely elaborate sand art which will have phrases like "I -heart- Boracay" and even include lit candles in their displays. It's a bit unsaid, but if you take photos try to tip the artists a little. Things I dislike: Aggressive beach vendors. These guys will just walk up to you and ask if you want to buy something. Just politely say no, but it does get a bit old after the 10th vendor. If you ever do get a chance to visit the Philippines, and you like adventure and beaches, definitely give Boracay a look!

One of the the best beach of the planet, winner of many awards, it's an incredible and breathtaking place: white sand, clear water, full of beach activities, tours, great touristic structures between restaurants, resorts and clubs. Don't miss the beautiful sunset!

Perfect Beach on the Island! Stay under a Palm tree and relax or try a Session of stand up paddling. Definetely a Must is a Sunset Tour in a paraw ! Staying at Station 3 is Highly recommended - its quiet but close to all the dining and Nightlife Spots. Check out the pito Huts as accomodation. Great value.

Part of the beach which is not that crowded. The most crowded part is right where the boats are.

We didn't originally plan to stop at Puka Beach but it was part of a land tour. The two immediate things I noticed were how windy it was(I hear it's the norm for that side of the island) and it'd be a blast if you wanted to swim with the waves. The waves were big and plentiful on this side of the island. Walking up and from the beach, there are dozens of vendors ready to sell you smoothies, other desserts, food, and souvenirs. It wasn't as crowded as other beaches on the island. It'd be a great place to watch the sunrise. On the beach itself were quite a few sit-down places to eat. Our guide was back at the trike waiting for us else I might've invited him and we would've had lunch together. Although it's part of it, I still felt weird taking too much time with someone waiting. Next time, I'm going to fit Puka into the plans and head back to see what kind of food I can devour. One end of the beach also has what appears to be a place where you can either rent boats or have someone take you. There are a couple of places around the island that you can only get to by water. I believe that was one of the places. It's near the north end of the beach. I'd say it's unique but a must-visit? I don't think it's a must-visit. If you're trying to relax on the beach and have different scenery than the other beaches around the island, make it a stop. Otherwise, it's kind of just for eating and photo opportunities.

I think it's important to note that Ilig-Iligan is long so you're going to have different experiences depending on which part you visit. It is a little more empty than other beaches but you're not going to find your normal beach activities here. It was one of the stops on a tour we went on. Go there to catch the sun, take great pictures, swim, and hang out. The bad thing about this beach? The northern side of Boracay is the part of the island where the rich have flushed out their money. You'll find your all-inclusive/never-leave resorts. Some of those resorts even have their own private beaches. In other words, if you're visiting Boracay and staying on the north side of the island, you're not visiting Boracay. They've even branded it... calling parts of it Newcoast. With all the developed resorts on the north side of the island, I was surprised by all the new resorts going up. Every half a mile, a new resort was being worked on. If you find yourself here, it'd be worth it to ride around to check it out before the other developments take it over. The current resorts and beaches are there but the areas, beaches, and roads are still fairly empty... for now.

It's an escape from the busy hustle of life and you forget about the worries. This paradise with white sand beaches and busy slew of people coming in and out of the island can also be a strain for this place. Although they charge fees to keep this island in clean and tiptop shape, there are still people that does not know how to clean up after themselves. It turned me off when used diapers and trash floated in the water. Yuck! As this place were big tourist spot, we we're always approached by people selling their business, day tours and restaurant offerings. It can be such an annoyance when you turn them away and yet, they'll still follow you to see if you change your mind. With that in mind, it was a beautiful vacation nonetheless and I'm glad I got to experience this island.

Magandang araw!…read more After reviewing all the individual places in Boracay, it's finally time to review the island as a whole. I do miss this place. We have plans to visit other islands when we're back but I feel like we'll have future visits to Boracay. I have two worries about Boracay; One is all the new developments going up on the north side of the island. Some could call it the rich people enclave... I call it the people without personalities in any substantial form enclave. Those developments will surely make it much more expensive and unbearable with tourists but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The other worry(and I haven't looked for an update in a while) but there was strong support/plans for a bridge between the islands. Part of the fun of Boracay is flying to the big island, trike to the boats, and then sailing to Boracay. With a stupid ugly bridge there, that's going to take away some of the experience along with make it more accessible. Aside from those two things, Boracay is an amazing place if there ever was one. I miss it daily. You could easily find yourself visiting, staying, and just never coming home. Plenty of restaurants(on the beach and inland). Plenty of beaches. Plenty of things to do. Also, plenty of things not to do because relaxation is top tier. And... it is the place of my proposal, so it'll hold a special place because of that. That's all for now. If you want my opinion on all the other places there, read the reviews. If you find yourself in that part of the world, this is one of the many places to visit.

The hotel has a quirky, hip vibe and, during the peak season, they have foam parties. Pretty cool! Honestly, I have not booked a stay here. But, I love going here for 2 reasons: a) Happy Hour and b) Swimming Pool! I know, I know. Why would I want to swim in a pool when the sea is right there? Well, during the summer (April to June), white beach shores have algae/seaweed. I've swam in it before. It's itchy and just not nice to wash off. So, when I can, I go for a swim at Tides' pool. They are on of the few hotels that allows non-visitors to use their pool for a fee (Php300). You can swim until closing time at 10PM. Big plus point is their Happy Hour which is from 3PM-8PM everyday! All their cocktails are good (seriously, I've tried them all). Order the Mojito, Pina Colada + Tequila Sunrise (that's a total of 6 drinks) and you can chill by the pool until it's time for your next party! Oh, the food here is quite good too. We often bring pandesal and other good stuff to the beach if we decide to have our breakfast or lunch here. You'd see people grilling pork belly, fish or Filipino BBQ skewers in makeshift grills on the weekends. This beach has so much potential! If only the past mayor of San Jose hadn't ruined it by letting these karaoke bars set up shop on the beach a few meters from the water, and if only the current mayor would make it a priority to clean up the beach, this beach would be the jewel of San Jose, Occ Mindoro. On a positive note, the new Mayor is in the process of moving all the karaoke/restaurant huts that are on the beach to the other side of the road.
