Whitby Public Library has all the bell and the whistles and anything that I want in my dream library... I think I can even organize my "dream" wedding here! The only problem is the limited number of parking spots. Only around 15 or so for a large library this size (it has more computer terminals than parking lots!!) Of course there are some reasonable municipal parking lots right next to the library at 50 cents a hour and free on evenings, weekends and holidays.

So I opened up yelp and came across this one not to far from school. The building looks very pretty. And the inside is nice and quiet. Very organized and clean. There are two levels one has a few computers in the far corners and the second level has some tables and couches to do some work. Asides from having books on both floors. It also has a cafe in the building, which was neat. I haven't seen a library with a cafe before. I had chosen the couch spot to do some work and sit by the fireplace since it was cold outside. It was quiet and I was able to finish a lot of work while I was there. I would definitely recommend this library to groups as well, since they have rooms you can book to do group assignments. The only thing I would say sucks is the parking, I wasn't able to find parking near the library so I had to park at a P lot, which wasn't too expensive. $1 for 1 hour.

There's a separate reading room that has a variety of newspapers, both current editions and back issues. Downstairs is a large children's section with books, CDs, DVDs, video games and board games. It's easy to reserve items including those located at other branches. My whole family loves it here and frequent often.

The place is quite spacious with about three sit down tables and five or six barstools along the window. The place is bright and clean and the assortment of foods and baked goods and coffee is great. On my visit I just stopped for a quick caramel latte so all I can comment is on that. A medium latte was five dollars and it was quite tasty. It's not fancy so there's no caramel drizzle or latte art or anything like that but it's just a nice cup of latte and convenient if you're visiting the area.

There are countless computer terminals for access to the Internet, both at the upper and main level of the library. In order to access the terminal, you do need a valid Ajax Library card. If you are out of towner like me, then bringing your laptop is essential for Wifi connection. The connection here is free and quick, compare to Pickering Main Branch library I been to. The 2nd level of the library has a special study area at the back has big floor to ceiling windows overlooking an open space. There are a few armchairs if you just want to laid around and take it easy. The atmosphere here is more formal. Quiet and you expect to be whispering to each other... shhh..... time for me to take a nap in one of the armchairs!

Their parking sucks, there's no where to pay & they don't accept debit visa which sucks. Also, not enough hot people there. They were relatively meh. However, they had this one building that was quite nice though! Seemed pretty new and clean. Also, I felt like no one knew where everything was. I was trying to find the UA building and people had no idea where that was at all. We asked about 15 different people and no one knew. We were all pointed into the wrong direction.

Pickering Central Library is located right across the street from Pickering Town Centre…read more When you enter the library there is this really big modern self check out area.. when you walk in more you see those big Apple Monitors.. those are for the special audio and visual applications and of course tons of computer stations for Internet connections (Pickering library cards required!) I found the WIFI connection though complimentary is one of the most problematic ones I encountered compared to other libraries.. I have problem access to the Yelp Log in!! That is a NO NO! :P Make sure you allow pop ups for the main log in web page, if not you will have to log in every 450 sec... if you have allow the pop up, then the browser would have refresh itself automatically. I have to comment on the Magazine collections here.. The latest issues are all available for your reading pleasure (over 50 varieties). One of the best I encountered in all the libraries I been to. There are no dedicate seatings for laptop users but there are 3 round tables at the back of the library that has tons of outlets and overlooking the parking lot.

The library though is a little small... but the indoor pool area is great with Leisure style 25 metre pool, 70' water slide, tot pool, on-deck sauna and whirlpool. One curious thing is this places have signs everywhere.... from the parking lot outside about "Zero Idle Zone", No Kids allow to run around, Taps water are precious... I just feel overwhelmed!
