There are plenty of seatings (sofas and seats) so you can just lounge around or you can use the private rooms if you want to have some privacy. There are good selections of current paperbacks and best sellers. Most of them are in great conditions and some of them brand news since the library is only 3 years old or so. I really enjoy spending a hour or 2 on my day off having a cup of coffee and lounging around using their wifi internet and read some magazines. Of course the best thing is the free wifi!!!

We went to the desk clerk and explained what happened, and we asked her when do the books get reshelved so we can find them and sign them out again. She took her time and went to the drop box area and looked through all the books and found the ones my daughter needed and signed them out for us. Wow, 5 stars for customer service experience !!! If you work, live, or go to school in Markham, you are eligible for a free library card. You basically go to the customer service counter, and present identification that shows your current name and address. You'll be asked to provide your phone number and e-mail address. It doesn't take long to get your card and a key tag version of it. This library is located inside Milliken Mills Community Centre. The closest door to enter the library is across from Milliken Mills Park. There is lots of parking. Staff have always been helpful and nice if you have any questions. They are patient, likely because there are children programs and you have to be. This library is older. It does have a decent multimedia section. You can rent audiobooks, movie DVDs, and more. The book selection is decent. It depends on what you are looking for. The fiction section is great. The newer books are more challenging to nab because the demand is great. I like the cookbook section. As great as it is to look up recipes online, it's a nice throwback to grab a cookbook, leaf through it, and spot a recipe that I'd like to try. I end up taking a photo of it these days. It's easier than trying to photocopy it for eons past. The washrooms are a part of the community centre. You have to exit the library and walk down the corridor to get to it. It's a hit-or-miss situation with cleanliness. There is wifi throughout the community centre. It's free and it works well. If you feel like a snack or meal, there's a McDonald's at the far end with a drive-thru. I seem to visit it more these days than the library. I have spent more time at this library doing work when wifi was an issue years ago. I ended up ditching Rogers for TekSavvy and haven't had to come here to be productive with wifi connectivity. Milliken Mills Branch Library located at Kennedy just south of 14th Avenue…read more This is one of the older Library system that in need of some sort of renovation. Built pre internet area, the power outlets for my laptops are not easy to find... There are some comfortable sofa style seatings, that I want to park myself with my laptop but unfortunately, no electric outlets are in sight. They do have some new metal looking partitions study stations that have individual power outlets... A lot of the furnitures here are quite old...and Walmart looking... hopefully they will have the budget to replace some of them. Kudos to their hardcover books collections! A lot of the previous Bestsellers they still carries multiple copies... Good to drop by to pick up a book or 2 when you have nothing better to do than the read a book. The Wifi connection here is much better than the one at Unionville library.. a lot faster and more stable! :) This will be another of my Yelp office when I am in the area! Oh and by the way, McDonalds is in the same building!! So you see people popping out to get a coffee from there or even going out for a break and snack on McDonalds goodies! :P

Likely due to the amalgamation in the late 90's, the Toronto Public Library couldn't have two reference libraries. The Toronto Reference Library retained its name. This one changed its name to North York Central Library. I don't recall when the North York City Centre subway station changed its name to North York Centre. I remember frequenting Coles and the food court back then. I should go back. I'm sure everything looks and is different. I like this library a lot. It's spacious. If you need a place to quietly read a book or study, there were plenty of tables and chairs to do it. It's still the case to this day. It's a popular place for students to visit, do research, and study. I like that there are lots of floors to spread out. There were seven when I was last there. This library went through major renovations back in 2017. Three floors were affected. This section was reopened a year later. These days, it has auditorium, a Braille writer, magnifiers, and wheelchair-accessible furniture. It also has wifi. I always liked the DVDs, CDs, and other media formats. This library had the best selection. I miss having a Toronto library card. Back then, I used to live in Toronto before I moved to Markham with my parents. I then studied in Toronto, so having a library card was free. I neither work nor live in Toronto. I refuse to shell out money for a Toronto library card. Instead, I'm content with my Markham, Mississauga, and Brampton ones. (43)

And you can bring in a coffee/water/pop or whatever and you don't need to buy anything... and no one will give you mean looks even if you park yourself here for hours.. (uploading photos to yelp or writing reviews) Yes I am writing my 800th yelp reviews right now! Oh almost forget they do have good selections of books and DVD... I have not buy a copy of books for years.. I either put a hold and reserve them online for later pick up or I will just grab some good interesting read off the shelves... Getting a library card set up was super easy, and the guy helping me at the desk was friendly and helpful about showing me all of the cool things the library has to offer these days. There is a 3D printer that is pretty cool, although I'm not sure personally what I would use it for. They not only have books, but magazines, DVDs, Blu-Rays, TV seasons, video games, and audio/ebooks to borrow. You can borrow 100 items at a time...WOW. I love borrowing movies from the library for free!! It's almost like Blockbuster still exists. This is a small library, but it's still full of TONS of great books. The lower level is mostly kids stuff and it was a little louder, but upstairs was library-quiet and wonderful. Parking is free for 3 hours when you get it validated, which is great. Also free wifi, which is another bonus. I'm so thankful for the library and everything that it offers...I'm glad I checked this one out!

I visited on the 2nd day of opening and the trees by the entrance weren't planted yet and there were 2-3 staff members at the front. Self checkout wasn't working yet. There is plenty of parking space outside. There are also two EV charging stations for the environmentally conscious. The only annoying thing about driving was that the entrance faces double-yellow lines, so you can only turn in (and out) going west. The inside of the library is really nice, with high ceilings and lots of windows that let in natural light. I noticed the start of a coffee bar, which should be a nice addition. There are tons of stocked shelves, but also quite a number that are still empty. There are many comfortable chairs throughout the library, including a few C-shaped chairs outside the children's books section. In the middle of the library is an outdoor courtyard to enjoy during the sunny summer months. One of the nice features of the library are the numerous semi-private rooms. The rooms are encased in see-through colored glass, so you can see if they're occupied. There's also a computer lab with small form factor HP desktops. For those with their own mobile devices or laptops, free wifi is also available.

The little coffee shop inside the main floor that allows you to buy a drink and sip while relaxing is a great idea. The whole third floor is a quiet zone... big signs telling you what you allow to do or not allow to do. I love those arm chairs facing the big windows... comfy and have a great view! But why 2 star?!! You have to have a library card in order to use their WIFI!! So if you are not a resident of Richmond Hill... you are out of luck!! BOO!!!!!!!!

Growing up in "the Hill" this library (and it's original location) were my local spots for picture…read morebooks, read alongs, summer camps, tobogganing and young adult books (big ups to R.L Stein and Christopher Pike)! Later in life, my high school exam periods were spent here on weekends when not working, studying for tests and getting work done when home seemed too busy to get anything done. Later still in University, I continued to seek solace here from the world outside when I came home from Waterloo on weekends and needed to get things done. It was always a positive study experience. Provided you arrived early enough (aka at opening) and managed to out run the teems of people racing you for a prime seat by a window). I always thought it funny to watch people run like they're about to miss out on a big sale or their bus, up stairs, pushing one another over just for a seat. These days the library is packed with student, you cannot get a seat anytime of day and folks spend a lot of time flirting and talking on their phone in the stacks whilst occupying limited study/work retail. Blah! Not to mention the Wifi is spotty and restricted (no streaming or video watching... not even Youtube) and the cafe on the main floor (which has been there since day 1 of this location) is over-priced and low quality at the best of times. I can't totally slam the place, it's still one of the largest public libraries in the GTA and a central focal point in Richmond Hill as you drive North on Yonge approaching Major Mackenzie. I'll be back again I'm sure, for now it's coffee shops for my working needs!
