The history of this Toronto Public Library branch has gone through a few location and name changes since the formal opening in January 1956. Back then, it was part of the Borough of Scarborough and was named the Golden Mile Branch.
Fast forward to April 1983, it relocated to the new wing & present location in the Eglinton Square Shopping Centre just off the food court. A facility expansion took place between 2016/2017.
Community patrons can now enjoy seating for 115 (pre-pandemic), 2 quiet study rooms, 2 meeting rooms for lectures or classroom configuration based on booking needs, 11 workstations with internet, WiFi, and scanning/copying/printing services.
Persons with disabilities have access to special equipment including computer with screen magnification software, large print keyboard, large trackball mouse, magnifier, page turner, book stand, and wheelchair accessible furniture. This is great as many of us take this part of life for granted.
Parking is free. TTC bus service, including the soon to be completed Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown is close by.
