Central Library exemplifies the phrase "everything but the kitchen sink". You want to rent a meeting room for your non-profit group? Do it here. Want to lounge and hang out? There's a cafe on the ground floor. Need a specific book? There's four floors of them with every subject you can think of. Looking for specialty/collectible books? There's a giant book sale on the ground level, with a "collector's room" that opens up Wednesdays and Saturdays where you can buy valuable stuff for really good prices. $6 for Folio Society books? Bruh. (Between you and me, it's also one of my favorite places to find signed books. Signed Al Waxman - patron saint of Kensington Market - and former PM Paul Martin signed books for $2 a pop? Yes, please!) I make this one of my favored stops whenever I'm in the City Centre. Yeah, it gets a little busy at times and the parking isn't free, but it's certainly come a long way since they renovated and expanded the site a few years back. If you're a fan of books, definitely check this one out.

I have studied in various libraries in Toronto and Greater Toronto Area....as well as Niagara falls and St. Catharines and I will have to say this is the best by far. The Library is located near Square one and Civic Centre. One of the entrance of the library links into the Celebration Square which is quite neat. The whole library is summed up in to 4 floors and a basement floor. The Basement floor is the kids area, floor One, two and Three are general areas and the forth floor is your quite area. Lot of people have problem finding their parking. Its located underground and the entrance is on the side of Duke of York street. The parking has a fees but is free in the evening and on weekends. They also have free Wifi. They also have a cafeteria located at the entrance of the library and is quite good on coffee as they started keeping starbucks coffee as well.

Burnhamthorpe Branch Library - Flags

Came here on a Wednesday night with my brother as he wanted to quickly print some papers and for…read moresome reason the librarian there made the process quite complicated. He wanted to print double sided and she told him that the quickest way was printing and uploading the files to his phone and printing from there. But 10 minutes from closing only then was he told by other librarians that he could only print double sided through the library's computers. Overall this was a frustrating experience as the process for printing paper was made complicated by the initial librarian that we talked to.

I like a good library. I have happy memories getting my first library card and spending hours…read morereading in library growing up in the Beaches area of Toronto. I then moved to borrowing books and music. I stopped going to library a few years ago. Work and life can do that. I recently decided that, after working in Mississauga for nearly eight years, it was time to get a Mississauga library card. My first attempt was trying to get one at Port Credit Library. I was there for the Mississauga Ribfest. Kill two birds with one stone, right? Before I went there, I looked at the Mississauga Library's site. It said that you can get a free library card if you work or live in Mississauga. Great! It also said that you needed to present your driver's licence to prove that you are you. I went there and talked to two library staff. Both stated that I needed to prove that I work in Mississauga with a paystub. The site never said that, so I was a bit bummed not getting a card that night. Luckily, stuffing my face with ribs, cornbread, and baked beans eased the pain. The following week, I visited the Burnhamthorpe branch, which is the closest one to my workplace. There is plenty of parking on a Friday night. I parked and walked in. I had a helpful woman handle opening a library card account for me. I presented my letter of employment (my paystub defaults to the Montreal office, so I needed to prove that I am employed in Mississauga with this letter). The key is to make sure that you letter spells out the employer's address. I was then asked to present my driver's licence. A few minutes later, I had a new library card. The woman was great at explaining to me all the important things like fines, book renewals, and my online account. I appreciated it. The unfortunate part was that I only had fifteen minutes to browse around the library. It closes at 6 pm on Fridays. I managed to find the cookbook section (not a huge surprise that food resonates with me), and found a ketogenic cookbook. I grabbed it and went to check it out. The same woman was helpful to step me through the self-signout process. The downside was that my book had an issue being signed out, so she needed to manually step in and check it out for me. I will need to give the self-signout process another go. I liked how spacious this library felt when I first walked in. I will need to come back and browse the entire library when it isn't about to close. (285)

The Civic Centre Resource Library is the latest addition to the downtown Vaughan area. The library…read moreis still being constructed and growing its staff. I visited on the 2nd day of opening and the trees by the entrance weren't planted yet and there were 2-3 staff members at the front. Self checkout wasn't working yet. There is plenty of parking space outside. There are also two EV charging stations for the environmentally conscious. The only annoying thing about driving was that the entrance faces double-yellow lines, so you can only turn in (and out) going west. The inside of the library is really nice, with high ceilings and lots of windows that let in natural light. I noticed the start of a coffee bar, which should be a nice addition. There are tons of stocked shelves, but also quite a number that are still empty. There are many comfortable chairs throughout the library, including a few C-shaped chairs outside the children's books section. In the middle of the library is an outdoor courtyard to enjoy during the sunny summer months. One of the nice features of the library are the numerous semi-private rooms. The rooms are encased in see-through colored glass, so you can see if they're occupied. There's also a computer lab with small form factor HP desktops. For those with their own mobile devices or laptops, free wifi is also available.

Want to host a meeting? Book out a room. What to record a podcast? No problem. Want to use a 3D Printer? We got a few, son! Want to sit on a rooftop freaking patio and relax? Welcome home. Never mind the vast library of video games, Blu-Rays, audiobooks, this place has it all. I love that they even have exercise bikes set up so you can get a workout in while you read. Like what?? Insane. What a win for the city of Vaughan.
