Wonderful dog friendly campground with lots of wildlife around so please always keep your pets leashed! The showers and restrooms were immaculate with plenty of hot water (bring your own toiletries though). The campsites come with fire pits on request and aren't too squished together. Reservations are available through the main office on site and open pretty late. This place is massive and there's plenty of things to do nearby from hikes, dining and just relaxing, I'll definitely be back! read more

44 years an Albertan, never camped in Jasper. Sad I know!! But it is never too late, and boy was it worth it. My husband always wants to camp in the mountains, so we booked a spot midweek in the second to last camping week of the year here, at the end of September. Even then in a campground of 758 spots we were lucky to get a site; one really needs to plan in advance to camp here. We noticed that the walk-in tent-only spots were already closed. The campground itself has also been closed for 2 years for renovations I was told, removal of pine beetle killoff and installation of new washroom facilities. Honestly I was expecting maybe a step or two above a KOA but I was blown away instead. Fantastic setting, great facilities (showers & washrooms included, every loop of about 60 sites has 2 places to shower, use flush toilets etc.) Free firewood, well... it's included with your stay because you have to pay for a fire permit regardless. Fair trade says I. The firepits are smaller than average though, maybe 1/3 smaller, not great for cooking. We checked in at 9pm on a Monday night and the booth was open, and the staff were friendly & helpful. Was not expecting this level of service. My federal tax dollars at work! The sites, trails and facilities are beautifully maintained. I love that there are 2 big outdoor sinks at each washroom facility to wash dishes in addition to the indoor toilet and shower facilities. Everything lights up a faded orange at night when one approaches the facilities, so that you don't need a headlamp and your more continent neighbours don't resent you. And the wildlife, wow. Not new to me, I'm a lifer, but still just wow. It's elk rutting season. 2 lady elk in our spot as we arrived, a suitor crying out in the distance. Pretty typical. By the 3rd night, I'm out frying onions when two six-point male elk start wandering towards my campsite, only to be chased by a screeching eight-pointer who howled and honked all night. All the humans (correctly) froze and minded their own business. Lots of smart humans this trip. It was incredible. I loved it, though maybe not for the feint of heart when that horny, territorial eight-pointer is snorting right outside your little RV at 5 in the morning, your dog is growling and your bladder is groaning. But that's Alberta eh?! We'll be back for sure! read more

Going on the record right here, right now...this Whistler's Campground was the best camping experience I have had throughout all my travels, all around the United States and North America! Yep, that's right, lol, I'm giving Whistler's 6 stars!! Whistler's Campground is actually part of Jasper National Park and is extremely conveniently located just a few short kilometers (or miles) from downtown Jasper, AB. For me, Whistler's was the perfect place to camp out while exploring Jasper. And interestingly, accommodations/lodging in and around Jasper were quite expensive for June of 2022. I didn't see anything for less than $175 - $200 per night (Canadian $). So...for anyone who's on a budget while traveling (like I was), and or has their tent/camper/RV with them...Whistler's is the place to be!! I spent 3 evenings camping out with my own tent. It was $35 (Canadian) per night but it included getting to use the newly renovated/refurbished shower house to take comforting hot showers after chilly days of exploring. And I couldn't believe how brand new, clean and well maintained the showers and restrooms were. The showers were private with as much time available as you'd like to use the hot water. The bathrooms were communal but with mirrors and electrical outlets. My campsite was within short walking distance of the facilities. Another great aspect to being here was having cell phone reception. I was able to keep myself entertained while sitting at my campsite in the evenings. I also showed up to Whistler's Campground at the last minute during the middle of the week. I went inside the office and they had open availability for a campsite. So...for a very popular destination area like Jasper National Park...usually you need to book reservations far in advance yet here I was showing up on a whim and having a place to stay for a few days. Woohoo! Now...my campsite didn't have any AMP Power, which was fine with me because I didn't need any...but I believe you can pay more for that option, but I may be wrong as well. The campground may not offer it. Just keep this in mind. And...this place is huge. For all my experiences, Whistler's was definitely the largest campground with the most spacing area between campsites. I felt like I had enough privacy between the campsite next to me. I had Campsite 20-H. I'd say there could have been over a few hundred sites on the grounds. There were random groups of elk roaming the campground from time to time. I was told by the park rangers not to disturb them because it was mating season, but it was still nice just to record and photograph them up close in nature. Lastly, it was just very efficient staying here. I woke up in the mornings, went into Jasper Town, got breakfast and then went on my way...whether I was hiking Valley of the 5 Lakes, Maligne Canyon, Maligne Lake, Edith Lake, Lake Annette, Jasper Skytram...etc... I was in the heart of it all and I owe all this success and great memories to the app on my phone called Campendium. Yep, without Campendium I'd be lost on my journeys. Btw...Whistler's Campground is situated at the end of world famous Icefields Parkway. Although a lot of sights and attractions of Jasper are situated more within the Columbia Icefields section of the park, still, this place was terrific for capturing the quaint, local, downtown perspective of Jasper. Welp, there's nothing more I can say other than if you're coming to Jasper by road-tripping it and don't want to pay the elevated prices for lodging, then it's ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE you consider staying here at Whistler's Campground. read more

we stayed in a tent site. it's loud, people don't seem to get quiet hour and it's busy. people pull in at all hours it seems, like 5 tents in one site and while I'm glad so many people think this is camping, this is the worst version of camping I've ever endured. it's 11:08 pm and I can't wait to leave at 5 am read more

It's been a few years since I've been able to go camping, so this was a perfect way for me test my physical ability with a group of friends that only wanted to go for one night in the mountains. Highly recommend booking months in advance as things fill up very quickly beginning of June - end of August. Glad we only were looking for one night as it was hard to come by and this is ending up at this campground. As my vehicle arrived before the second vehicle and we didn't know how much longer they would be, we asked what we should do for checking into our two reserved campsites. I think this is important to share one was under my name and the other my friends name that hadn't arrived yet. Thus we specifically asked if we should check in for both sites or leave the permit tag there for when they arrive. We didn't care either way but only wanted to make it as easy as possible for the second vehicle to check in. The lady we dealt with seemed like it was pretty normal for the first vehicle to take both permits so setting up camp can occur. Unfortunately the second vehicle struggled with checking in. Adding to the confusion, whomever they were dealing with for check in was not understanding that we only had 2 vehicles for the total of two campsites that would only have 5 people. When you book online, it's quite clear max 6 people per site, with two tents or RV & tent and only one vehicle. So we knew the rules and planned so only two vehicles would transport everyone. Thank goodness for cell phones working around there and we got that all sorted out. Unfortunately it took a bit to get everyone settled and relaxed but the site location was lovely. It had a creek running through and a small wooden bridge that you had to drive over to access your camp site. The sites themselves really vary in size. Standard is a picnic table and fire pit. Bathrooms were easy to access and definitely a lovely surprise to have lights, running water and flushing toilets. There's also a big showering area more to the center of the campground and a large grassy play area, park/climbing structures and a huge amphitheater. They also have specialized firewood areas but as they told everyone entering the campground that fires weren't allowed, we never went that far. I should mention that grassy space for setting up tents is hit or miss. So plan accordingly if you come with a tent vs RV/trailer. I'm glad we got our two campsites side by side. Not only did it make sharing supplies easier but only one campsite was big enough for two tents and the vehicle. As you want space to move about without tripping over guide wires, we did a bit of shuffling with what tents went where. Glad we ended up with less people than originally planned as I still don't know where we would have placed the 4th tent. Also as being near a creek is wonderful for listening to the water. However it also means kids are following the water and playing within it. That itself didn't bother us much, as it's a campground and people do wonder about. What did worry us was the lack of supervision as they were running through our smallest of two campsites and nearly tripping over the guide wires with firewood/kindling in their arms. I felt bad having to reroute them from coming through but first aid or worse could happen with such a small space & slick ground. Honestly next time I'd select a spot away from the creek just to avoid that situation again. As the evening rolled around, we all took turns going for walks. Beautiful campground to walk around and I love the links between areas so we could visit other friends in further locations. Areas are well lit as the evening comes with what looks like old fashioned street lights. Next time I'd bring my bike so I could enjoy some of the nearby trails. Check out is by 11 am but I do have to say I'm grateful that they're not too strict about this. Mostly we had vehicle issues and needed AMA to arrive before being able to leave. I was impressed how quickly AMA arrived considering getting through the lines on a non-holiday weekend was super tough in the mountains. Overall the campground is nice and provides lots of opportunities to enjoy nature. Good location for those that are working their way through Jasper into Banff or BC. Close by to Jasper the town so if you do need anything you forgot it's a quick trip into town. If you are concerned about your campsite space, I'd definitely call ahead and confirm if you really do have room for what you're planning to sleep in. read more

We camped here a couple of nights while exploring Jasper. Like the DisneyWorld of camping. SO MANY sites, so I was surprised they were completely booked (mid-July); so make reservations early. Campsites offered little privacy. Neighboring campers both had children that would freely wander around our campsite, they were located so closely to us. The elk were a novelty at first, but being so acclimated to humans, they were content to spend an entire evening right on our campsite. Bathrooms were relatively clean. Showers are shared by the entire campground, so the earlier you use them, the better. The campfire 'pits' were actually raised grills. Very disappointing. Stay here as a last resort. Don't expect to relax or enjoy 'nature' at this campground. read more

We stayed in an oTENTik where the heater doesn't work when it was 0 deg Celsius at night. Instead of offering individual bear storage lockers at each site, they make you walk to a communal storage locker. As mentioned by others the fire pit is a very small metal grill (barely fit 3 wood logs). Also the restrooms are dated (but very clean). read more

Stayed here for three nights, had a great time. Beautiful, clean place. Campsites are kind of close together, but still private because of the amount of trees in between. Lots of Elk sightings through the grounds. Loved that only allowed campfires in certain spots, it was a nice break from campfire smoke. Minus 1 star because there's only ONE shower spot for the WHOLE campgrounds, quite a ways away for a majority of the sites. read more

Stayed here 2 nights (AUG 2016). I second other reviewers' opinions - huge campground, but not all camp hubs have shower facilities. We were located at the "mixed" lot, near RVs and bigger campers so we didn't get as nice/cozy a vibe of this camping as others. Unfortunately, camp staff were not as friendly as in Banff or Clearwater. Washrooms were very clean. Recommendation: Pick a spot with a fire pit, for tents-only, close to the central shower facilities but further from your camp hub washrooms (we constantly had people trudging next to out tent!). They had plenty of activities for (young) kids. We saw a momma elk next to our tent as well :) So it's definitely close to the greenbelt! read more

This place is beautiful. It is huge and there is a lot of distance between each site. We were back in a corner and felt like we were in the wilderness. We had elk coming through our site one night. What a sight! They seem to be regular visitors as they greeted us when we checked in. Very close to town. read more
