While waiting in line to purchase several things here a minute ago, I just dropped my items and walked immediately out of the store and would encourage anyone else to do the same.
There were two small children who were looking at some St. Patty's Day merchandise while their father had a key copied. As a father, I can tell you they were being exceedingly respectful for their ages. The owner (I presume) and his wife both made a point of pestering them, quite rudely, several times. If they children would have been misbehaving -- even a little bit -- I could have understood their concern, but these kids were just looking at green shamrock necklaces and decorations.
I was boiling mad the first time I saw it. The second time I vowed to say something as I checked out. The third time I dropped my items and left while telling the owner I would never support such a rude and inconsiderate business owner. How mad was I? I went to Yelp on my iPhone to write this review, then had to download the app, then had to reset my password because I hadn't written a review in some time. All worth it, because these people were just that terrible.
I'm an American, and everyone here in Whistler -- with the exception of these two -- have been so stereotypically nice, as Canadiens are rightfully reputed to be. The owner of this store is a stain on all of Canada, and Whistler in particular.
I would encourage anyone to take their business elsewhere. If one cannot treat other people -- particularly small children -- with respect and dignity, they aren't worthy of your shopping dollars. read more
