Taking over the same storefront as the former Amish Deli (home of "Bowling Green's Biggest, Baddest BLT"), I had high hopes which were only buoyed by the enthusiastic welcome I received from the smiling staff as I entered the establishment. The nice lady at the order counter apologized and said the grill was having issues during their soft opening, but that did not matter to me, as I already had my eyes on trying one of the 2-dog combos. After quickly reviewing my options, I ordered the Sterling dogs with a side of coleslaw, plus a fountain Coke. Before tax, the total came to $9.98, which was pretty reasonable for lunch downtown. As I made my way to one of the booths, I cast my eye around the dining room, and frankly, I liked what I saw! The new laminate floor looked great, as did the brand new -and spotlessly clean- tables, chairs, and booths. The decorations and wall hangings were tasteful and un-cluttered, and I especially liked how the blue light horse silhouette (visible on far-right side of my dining room photo) conveyed a sense of good-Amish-food-meets-21st-century. After a pleasantly short wait, my order was delivered to my booth. The all-beef dogs were garnished with crispy-cooked bacon, red pepper relish, and shredded cheddar cheese. As you can see in my food photo, they looked great, and tasted even better! The side of coleslaw was also very good, which kind of surprised me, as I expected it to be overpowered by the clearly visible chunks of red onion, but the flavours melded together perfectly. I also liked how the staff stopped by my table to ask how the food was, and how speedy and friendly they were any time I took my fountain cup up to the counter for a refill. PROS: very good food, very friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a good atmosphere CONS: for a soft opening, I felt they were great, as I had zero issues! Overall I rate Sterling's Amish Deli as being Very Good, and look forward to returning!

From the second we walked in until we left, he kept staring at me. Not just the occasional glance, but repeatedly looking over with what felt like a really hostile expression. It got to the point where I couldn't stop noticing it, and it made the whole dinner awkward. I obviously can't say what he was thinking or why he was doing it, but it made me feel very unwelcome. The frustrating part is that everyone else was great. The hostess, our server, and the kitchen staff were all friendly and professional. They did a great job. Unfortunately, because of that experience, we won't be back. If you're queer, trans, or just don't want to feel like you're being watched through your entire meal, I'd choose somewhere else.

It has that old-school neighborhood deli feel mixed with a quirky, cozy little café vibe. Lots of character in the decor and the kind of atmosphere that makes it feel like you found something local instead of just stopping somewhere to eat along the way. The staff was also super nice and helpful. We had a couple questions while ordering and they were friendly, patient, and made the whole experience easy. Most importantly... the sandos were legit. I went with the Maffioso, which was fantastic. One of the kids built her own with pepperoni and mozzarella, the other went with mac and cheese, and my wife had the Caprese panini. Four very different orders and everyone left happy, which is basically the family-lunch equivalent of pitching a perfect game. Great sandwiches, cool atmosphere, friendly people, and plenty of personality. This is exactly the kind of random road-trip lunch stop you hope to stumble across. Would absolutely stop again if we're anywhere near Tiffin.
