We also ordered the whitefish dip to share, which was one of the best whitefish dips I've had. It wasn't super smoky, so it might be more palatable to people who haven't had it before. I loved the addition of the giardiniera. Overall a very lovely experience. Do I need to go back, no, but I'm glad we got to check it out.

The bar tender (Ashley) was also amazing and uses recipes she's collected from all over the years from other restaurants and the drinks were fabulous! Marcella, one of the owners, took us on a tour of the whole place where they have a boutique, an art gallery (where you can watch the artist at work), AND a speak easy theater with live performers. This place was truly magical and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone coming to Mackinaw looking for a beautiful and charming restaurant to spend your day or evening. You get 8 very nice size shrimp, which were nicely chilled (nothing worse than warm shrimp) and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were fresh and meaty, good flavor. The staff is great. Riley did a great job taking care of us. We were also greeted by the owner John, who was visiting and talking with every table of guests. My wife stumbled onto this place while site seeing with visiting friends. Originally I believe it just started out as a bakery. And they bake just about everything. Cookies, bread, rolls, hamburger buns, cinnamon rolls, pies, brownies, lemon bars, date squares, etc. It's a quant little place that seats about 20-30 but there are picnic tables outside and there is a nice little waterside park right before you cross over the bridge (on the way there). All of their menu items are made 100% in house. Pizzas are made with their dough recipe. Aside from their regular menu they have an advertised special daily. On Thursdays they serve the best fish and chips on the continent. We make the 40 minute drive at least twice a month just for that. Their daily specials are posted on Facebook. So if you're driving on Highway 17 and you're going past St Joseph's Island do yourself a favor and take the 10 minute detour. They are open from 7am - 2pm for regular menu items and until 6 for their daily specials and take out.
