Was disappointed with this restaurant. Not worth all the hype. Took forever to be seated despite being told it would only be a short wait. I also saw them seat other guests who had arrived after me before I was even seated. The menu is extensive and I do like the unique way that they offer the appetizers in different sizes. So after a long day or driving from Saskatoon and 7 days on the road from Alaska I really wanted a good meal. I found this spot and it did not disappoint. The vibe is super chill and the staff all equally chill and helpful. We had pork belly which had a Asian flair to start, it was very good. We both had the Bison Meatloaf for our entrees which came with three pieces of meatloaf, Yukon good potatoes and choice of side. I had the green beans and she had the salad. The meatloaf was delicious! Very tasty, just the right amount of spice and tenderness. The potatoes buttery and soft, and the green beans delicious. New to Minot ND & winner of Bacon & Brew at the Zoo, Whiskey Nine. The main level is family friendly, while the lower lever is +21 only. Both levels have the same food & drink menu. There are several simulators throughout, as well as a lovely lower level seating room area. On arrival, the server (also acting hostess) wasn't overly friendly or welcoming, though she quickly warmed up. We were in just to try a variety of items, including the full classic cocktail menu, to get our feet wet on our first visit. I received an immediate response from the business to a FB pic posted - which was nice... especially since we were still seated and they asked for feedback. All drinks were solid & ran between $19-$12ea. We opted for apps & desserts - they were out of gouda dip & bread pudding, both of which were on a to-try list. Bummer buuuut we will go back & give those a try too. The lower level was closed but we were offered a tour. It's not perfect but definitely worth a repeat. read more

Ended up for dinner tonight. Glad we did. Had bacon-wrapped dates, pork belly and rice, and peri-peri dry chicken wings for starters. All delicious, with Apple bacon and smoked sauces. Aaron, our server took exceptional care of my family when we came for lunch over the holidays. The bar is absolutely beautiful, and the decor is lovely. The food that was recommended to us was delicious, and all of the drinks were fantastic. The Gouda dip is to die for and my dad and brother in law were very satisfied with the smoked old fashioned. While visiting Minot, I wanted to try Whiskey Nine because of the great reviews, and I was not disappointed! I sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely personable and attentive! Everything on the menu looked great, and I loved the option of getting smaller dishes or one larger entree. I was between two options, and the bartender told me that one was one of his favorites, so I went with the pork tenderloin medallions. They were delicious and the creamy sauce on top of them was perfect! He also recommended the candied green beans and loaded potatoes as my sides, which were also amazing and went perfectly with the pork. I first tried the Trevino cocktail and then The Homa, both of which were great. If you like cinnamon, I highly recommend The Homa. The bar has a beautiful display of many whiskey bottles, and the entire restaurant is decorated nicely to feel upscale casual, like you know you're in a nice place but feel perfectly fine in a casual outfit. I may have to return tomorrow, just to try more of the menu before I leave Minot! I only wish I had more space for dessert which is amazing I'm sure, and I wish I could come back more often! read more

This place was recommended by a colleague but I was a little apprehensive after reading the type of establishment it was since I travel and eat alone. That said- the food and service were so good I'll definitely be back! Yes, I was the only single diner in the place and of course they seated me right in the middle of the main dining room . But my waiter Aaron was so amazing I didn't care. Attentive and on top of things, as well as friendly- you could tell he enjoyed his job. I had the French onion soup to start- so yummy! It says a crock and it's a BIG crock! For dinner I had the beer battered walleye, seasoned veggies and loaded mashed. The portion sizes are HUGE- it could easily have fed 2 people. The nice thing was, and this isn't always the case, besides large portions the food was really tasty! The veggies were done well- still had some crispness to them and not too well done. The downstairs is beyond awesome! Such a nice vibe! Such cool furniture. The appetizers were PHENOMENAL! A group of us went and got a bunch of different apps and all shared and wow I think the pita dip was to die for! They have a golf simulator downstairs as well. Nice little sit down bar as well. Maybe they are catering to ND tastes but I expect a little spice to my curry. The chicken breast was dry. My wife's shrimp po'boy was better, not Southern good, but better. The NY Strip was maybe 1/2 thick and the sides were bland (except for the truffle fries that were over seasoned). The Pork Medallions were dry and the barely-there cream sauce on them was just odd (and not in a good way - I had to scrape it off). While the bison meatloaf was outstanding (light, lean, and flavorful), the white chicken chili was more light a bowl of hot nacho cheese dip that in which chicken and beans were sprinkled. A combo of food, drinks, and golf. I'm not much of a golfer but the simulators look fun. On the lower level they have a putting area (which I might actually try one of these days). I love the atmosphere when we walk in - all the dark tones and wood make it feel classy (For North Dakota). Me and the wife have been multiple times and mainly go for food. Dishes are served to perfection every time. I really enjoy the Coconut Curried Chicken. Drinks are awesome! I've tried most of their classic cocktails but the one I gravitate towards the most is the Whiskey Nine Sour. Their drink menu was created by their bar manager and I think he did a spectacular job on them. There aren't any restaurants in Minot that compare to the quality of food/drinks at Whiskey Nine. The only thing I'd give a heads up about - plan on spending a decent amount of money especially if you get appetizers, plateables, drinks and desserts. We spend over $100 every time we go... but it's definitely worth it! read more

I went here for dinner with my Mom after visiting my Dad in the hospital at Trinity. We had a very nice server helping us named Sydney. She recommended the Beer Battered Walleye and it did not disappoint. The food and service were excellent but where it goes beyond excellent is what else we witnessed here tonight. We witnessed another server flagging down a customer who left their keys in the restaurant. It was extremely cold outside and he was out there with no coat on making sure this customer got their belongings. Now it doesn't stop there. When my mom and I left the restaurant our car wouldn't start. My mom and I went back into the restaurant to wait for help from family and we're going to order dessert. We told Sydney what was happening and she went outside to check and see if she had jumper cables in her truck and ended up helping us with a jump. This is beyond excellent service. This is human kindness which lately this world needs more of. I didn't get the other servers name however but both he and Sydney were amazing and beyond helpful. This will now be my go to restaurant here in town. Not only was the food amazing (best fish I've had in town yet) but the above and beyond customer service we witnessed was absolutely awesome. Came to Minot to visit my Air Force Son for five days. Whiskey Nine was on our list AND we watched Boston Celtics clinch a 7th game against the Bucks. So W9 has TV's. We bellied up to the bar with Blue the Bartender. The Gouda and Bacon App and the Armadillo Egg was delicious. Blue is not disappoint us with is five star service. Even tho the bar and restaurant got very busy I can say Blue didn't miss a step. This is a hidden gem - very well decorated, they have a couple reservation only indoor hold platforms, the food was delicious. Come check this place out cuz you won't be disappointed. The King of South Carolina gives Blue and W9 Five Stars. read more

Cool place, stopped in for mid day appetizers and drinks. Service was outstanding! We ordered the deviled eggs and candied bacon. I ordered both in "par 3" portions. The three deviled eggs were good, nothing to write home about. The one slice of bacon (the "par 3" was one piece of bacon for $4) was nasty, it was served cold and virtually uncooked. A friend from Bismarck and I went there on Nov 12th, the day after Veterans Day. He is a veteran and he asked if they were offering some sort of discount for veterans. I thought they were offering some sort of discount. The server was dismissive and said she did not know, did not offer to ask or anything else. Our food came, I noticed he barely touched his rice. I asked if it was ok. He said it was crunchy because it was uncooked but did not want to complain. I felt pretty bad and when our server came to ask how our meal was, I mentioned the rice was not cooked and was not edible. She said. "Oh, yeah it usually comes up like that".....what? I had so many questions, if you know this, why wouldn't you address this? Why serve it like this? Umhhh. Not right at all! Not a discount, not an apology. Nothing. Needless to say we won't be going back. I was embarrassed about suggesting this place. I kept apologizing to him on behalf of the restaurant, he was just very gracious and did not want to make a big deal. My bison was extremely salty but I thought it was pointless to say anything. I am not really picky even though I am a trained chef; I just go with the flow but I wanted to my friend to have a good experience. So disappointed! I give it 3 stars based on our past experiences being outstanding and our recent experience being mediocre. I don't necessarily discourage anyone from eating here. Our experience in the past really did exceed our expectations. The food and service was on point. However our recent experience wasn't all that great. They were out of prime rib so most of us settled for the new York strip. Most our steaks were over cooked and the sides were pretty plain. There really wasn't anything horrible about the meal other than it was jus mediocre. We found this pretty disappointing because we traveled quite the distance to eat there. The manager was super nice about the situation. We honestly weren't looking for anything other than to give our feedback because we know that the place has been super enjoyable in the past. We really want to see the quality to come back. We will try it again with an open mind, hopefully that this was just an off day. Btw, the French onion soup was delicious. read more
