I had heard a lot about Whisk & Grind, so when I walked in and the decor wasn't particularly fancy I was a little taken aback, but I went with it as the cafe was very busy; which is always a positive signal.
We were not in the marked for anything big, so ordered their homemade sausage rolls, we were given the option of their house relish which I most excitedly accepted. I ordered a chair latte to accompany, then showed myself a seat at the communal table placed in the centre of the cafe.
The communal table is a nice concept, I like it but it often doesn't work depending on number of patrons, groups and such but this was okay. There were some magazines and newspapers scattered on the table which brought entertainment during our overall 15 minute wait. Good Brought first, drinks second. Sausage roll too good to care.
Their sausage rolls are amazing. They're not greasy, they crumble beautifully and the filling was to die for! We had to stop ourselves getting seconds! You should just go get one. Just go.
My chai was delicious, I got two cups put of it. I hate it when you get 1.5 or 2.25 cups- what's that about? So frustrating! Nonetheless, the chai was perfect, plus I asked for honey with it and they gave me a whole jar instead of a little ramekin, I appreciated that.
Also, the cakes in their display look so scrum-diddli-um-cious! Much recommended! read more
