My wife and I were referred to Melissa by our wedding planner. When we met with Melissa she showed us past examples and took notes of things we were looking for. It was easy to tell that she put a lot of effort into designing out invites. Our wedding was a 3 day event and we wanted the invitation to include a pocket that detailed the events. What she designed was absolutely perfect and we received such positive feedback from family and friends. We enjoyed working with Melissa so much that we hired her for our day of signage and other stationary needs. We were very particular with what we wanted on our signage and some involved difficult drawings and painting. Our guests truly enjoyed all of the little details that Melissa put into her work and we can't thank her and her team enough. THANK YOU MELISSA!

    Loved my moody invites!

Melissa was so wonderful to work with. She really listened to what I wanted and improved on my vision. I wanted black invites with gold writing and she came up with a way to make them way more affordable and I so appreciated that because she didn't have to do that. She is truly a talented artist. She even created these amazing moody envelopes with a floral liner. I had so many compliments on my invites and all of my paper goods. My seating chart was simply stunning and creative. She was fast and responsive which is so important when planning a wedding. Do yourself a favor and book her ASAP!

Melissa and her team are incredibly talented, professional, and creative! We couldn't be happier with our wedding invitations... they were stunning!!! We came to Melissa with no real idea of what we wanted other than our color scheme. She showed us examples of past products Whimsique had designed and explained ways we could have what we wanted (for the elegance factor we'd hoped for), but stay within our budget. She was even creative enough to reuse a gold stamp she had made for a previous customer, but tailored it to fit our design and initials by combining the stamp and printing together! It turned out perfectly and was very cost effective. Overall throughout the entire process, Melissa's communications were incredibly prompt, detailed, and thorough which I greatly appreciated as we were planning our San Diego wedding from Hawaii and the time difference and distance made it challenging working with many vendors... but Melissa made it easy for us. After ordering our invitations and seeing how incredible they'd turned out (the quality was unbelievable and the delivery presentation when we opened the box was a special touch of class), we decided to add on additional paper products to our order to include signs for our ceremony, name cards, and programs. Once again, Melissa did not disappoint... all of them turned out beautifully. So, if you are looking for someone who is creative, responsive, client-oriented, budget mindful, and genuine, go with Whimsique! You will be so happy you did! Thank you, Melissa and the rest of the Whimsique Team, for making our paper goods so special!

Melissa and the Whimsique team truly went above and beyond for our special day. Melissa not only designed our amazing invitations & save the dates, she also did all the wedding stationery and paper goods such as food&drink menus, table signs, programs, wooden signs, etc and last but not least, our cathedral style wedding altar and seating chart wood board! ALL of them exceeded my husband and I's expectations and were all customized! Melissa helped me bring color to my ideas and knew where to steer me when I was having a hard time explaining my vision or changes to a design. All her designs and works are things we will cherish forever and played the GREATEST role in making our wedding uniquely ours and us! We can't rave enough about the whole process and finished products! If I could leave pictures of it all, I would! Stunning!

They truly make every visit such a fun and relaxing experience. A special thank you to MJ for going above and beyond. She is one of the sweetest people I've met and generously offered to do a photoshoot for me and my two friends. She even surprised us by making our pottery on the house! It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the entire experience even more memorable Thank you, MJ, for creating such a welcoming space where I've been able to make my Miffy bowl series, with many more pieces to come. As a frequent customer, I'll definitely be back!!

Pottery Painting at The Hot Spot in Liberty Station…read more We took our team of 15 to do pottery painting and it pains me to say that for groups, it was a bit of a let down. I've been here before with a friend and I'd say this location/company does better with smaller groups and not larger groups. I pre-booked our reservation and when we arrived, they had our large table with the paper on it with most things needed except paper towels. The seats felt really close together even with fitting all 15 of us so some had to sit on other tables since it's pretty crammed. For groups over 6 (I believe it was), they charge a 15% service charge and I completely understand and am happy to pay it if a decent experience is provided but it was basically self-service so I'm wondering what should have been included. The employee introduced herself who was "assigned to us" and handed out the cards to put paint on and added our pottery selections to her notepad. That was the extent of her help. I ended up going around to our table asking if anyone needed paper towels (since they weren't provided) or more paint. If our table was a small group, I could see that not being necessary but we were a large group who was paying a premium. The employee didn't come back to check on us as it got close to finishing. I went up to get ready to check out and find out where everyone needs to bring over their pottery and the employee remembered that people should write their initials with a special pencil. It was a bit disorganized and I had higher expectations with what we were paying. Is the service fee just for the extra paper on the tables because the other groups/individuals who didn't "get someone assigned to them" got the same level of service our group did. Our reservation was in the early afternoon and with this July heat, it did get hot. The shop had doors and windows open but 1 small fan in the corner of the room that didn't make much of an impact. I'd suggest more fans because this place makes great margins for what they offer. Overall, I wouldn't suggest this place for a group activity over 6 people. The service isn't worth it for the service fee. You're better off to have the group go in as individuals unfortunately.
