"Where's my suitcase" indeed! On 7/29, I scheduled my bag for delivery through Where's My Suitcase (WMS) for the following day, 7/30, between 1-5pm. At 8:40 that same night, I received a notification that my bag had been picked up and was out for delivery. However, when I checked my AirTag, my bag was still at the airport. I promptly notified the driver that he might have the wrong bag and learned that he hadn't picked it up at all. I asked if there was a way he could un-mark my bag as "picked up" and he said no, and that it "might" be delivered in the next two days. It has now been four days since my bag was supposedly "picked up" from the airport on 7/29, and I am still awaiting reassignment to a new delivery driver.
WMS apparently has no fix for this and cannot--or will not--explain how the reassignment process works if a bag has already been marked as "picked up." (Why would a picked-up bag be reassigned to a driver if the system thinks it's no longer at the airport?) Their responses are almost totally canned, and they've now stopped replying altogether. I also can no longer reschedule my delivery window, as I get an error message stating WMS can't hold my bag for more than 24 hours once it's picked up. As of this writing, I have no clue when or how I will get my suitcase despite knowing exactly where it is.
To be fair, my parents' bags were delivered without issue--although because they were delivered earlier than our scheduled timeframe, we weren't at home and were forced to waive the signature to ensure delivery, which would not have been our preference. The only reason we felt confident doing so was because there were AirTags in their luggage, so we could see that they were headed to our home. If it hadn't been for that, I assume all three of our bags would still be stuck in baggage purgatory at PHL.
Update (8/4): After emailing the airport's main customer service department and requesting direct contact with the airline, I was quickly connected with the Aer Lingus ground team, who were amazing and helped ensure my bag was sent out for delivery within 24 hours. WMS made the delivery at 2:19 a.m. this morning, so I was forced to waive the signature again so I could go to sleep. Fortunately I live in an area where I don't have to worry about theft, but this would not be an ideal scenario for many--especially those in less secure areas or without the benefit of an AirTag in their luggage. read more
