They had to do order tires from another location and were able to get it to this location and put on my car the same evening. I appreciate the staff a lot! While I was there, another guest was sitting and fell asleep with his laptop on his lap. The manager didn't hesitate to move to counter so it didn't fall (since the guest was sound asleep - tried waking him up several times). Came here to get my brakes looked at and I thought maybe I needed tires. They were honest and told me I didn't need new tires. I appreciate that so I knew right away they were trustworthy. Sunday late afternoon, half hour before they were closing, we saw our front tire was either slashed or blew out on the road. We needed it replaced ASAP, and lucked out that this place is a block away from our house. Went there and Nate and team were super efficient and professional, friendly and on the ball. They Though they have loads of tires in stock, they needed to order a special type of tire for our car, which they promised would be there by noon on Monday. My husband asked how certain was Nate that the tire would come ... he was super hnest ad while not being able to say 100%, came pretty damn close :-) Sure enough, the next day, in the morning, they called to ask my husband to bring in the car, which he did and later picked up--they had done all the work of replacing, rotating, calibrating, etc., The labor was reasonably priced, the place is as great as an outfit of this type can be. Long story, short I took my car for a suspension inspection and alignment. These guys are so unprofessional . They don't have no experience and they don't care to help you out or try to figure out the issue they caused in the first place. Dropped off my car and when I came back for my car, they had messed up the whole alignment. My tires were rubbing and steering wheel was so off that made my traction and ABS light came on and they also forgot to tight my suspension arm nut ... I just never experienced something like this. 100% Fraudulent Business. There was no chance of any "misunderstanding" or any kind of "mishaps", what we experienced was a fully intended scam attempt. Called ahead of time to see if they had time to repair a puncture. Usually I repair simple punctures myself but was feeling lazy that day. They said they will need about an hour, an hour for puncture repair is odd but gave me time to grab a lunch. After 90 minutes of no call I simply showed up to see where they were at. All they did was put the car on jack and removed the wheel. The sales person told me that the puncture was located on a spot where it couldn't be repaired. I asked if it was on the side wall, no answer. He told me he can put a new tire on, I replied sure. Then he smirked and told me that my car is AWD so all four tires must be replaced. At this point I knew what he was up to so I asked him to show me where the puncture was. Here are his answers, different each time of course. "Oh it's at where it can't be repaired" "Oh don't worry about it we tried and couldn't repair" "You know what I think I can change just one tire for you" "I don't know where it is so I can't show you" "There is no point because I'm not going to sell you tire today" Trying not laugh I told him to just put the wheels back on and I will be on my way. Took it to nearest gas station with garage and borrowed a soapy water spray. Please look at the attached picture, this is exactly where the puncture was at. It is not on the side wall, not even on the shoulder, this puncture location is 100% repairable. The mechanic there laughed with me about the story and repaired the puncture with simple twist through. Obviously there was no sign of "repair attempt" by wheel works. Car maintenance has always been hubby's responsibility. Earlier this week, he wants to get an oil change of the SUV and have them to check the brakes as he feels the braking is a bit different than before. That's his "expert" diagnosis. LOL We got there at 7:30am on a Tuesday morning. The lady at the counter was helping another customer when we walked in. She greeted us immediately anyway. We have waited maybe 5 mins and it's our turn. She is courteous and said it might take a while to have her guys to do it today since we don't have an appointment and they are very busy today. We said no problem at all. Anytime today is fine. We got a call from her a few hours later in explaining in details on their findings and costs. We gave her the approval and the car is ready the same day. When we went to pickup the car before closing, it's the same lady behind the counter! She has been there from 7am to 6pm!! She still has a smile on her face and go over the repair in details with us. You could tell she takes her job seriously and truly enjoy it. This is the first time I feel the need to write a review on car shop as it is truly a positive experience. Toni, the lady behind the counter, is absolutely amazing. She is knowledgeable and have immense patience in explaining all the details to us who knows nothing about car. I brought in my car due to a leak in the rear tire, and ended replacing all 4 tires. Then after I left their store, the TPM tire sensors begun to malfunction. I called in several times, and each time I came back to WW, the store rep, or store manager (maybe?) would reschedule me as the qualified tech repair person was not available. I had been there several times, and up to this day, there was no TPM sensors repaired. Honestly, my TPM sensors were fine before the tire replacement, and i am now beginning to think that they damaged my TPM sensors, and I'm getting a run-around. They used to have good service, and I used to be a loyal customer before. But now, I have nothing but a lousy experience, and a malfunctioning TPM sensor(s) which they may have damaged during my tire replacement. read more

I brought my vehicle in at 830am for a synthetic oil change, tire rotation, and to have my brakes inspected and repaired (for a specific issue). Nearly 5 hrs later, the "service technician" called to tell me the oil change was complete and that everything else checked out okay and that the vehicle was ready for pickup... BUT then I pressed for info about the brakes - only to be put on a lengthy hold and then to be connected with the technician that actually worked on my car. He told me that the rear rotors and pads do in fact need to be replaced, and that they would need an additional 2+ hrs to complete the work. Having lost all confidence in WW, I declined - and immediately went back to the shop, got my car and took it to another well-known shop in San Carlos that finished the work in a prompt and professional manner. read more

I booked an appointment for wheel alignment for 1 pm. when I dropped off the car at 1 pm, the lady at the counter told me it would take one hour to one and 1/2 hour and asked if I am going to wait around. I said yes and I was walking around the shop for an hour nearby and came in and saw my car still in the parking lot. When I enquired the gentleman if my car was done , he said he would check and get back to me. Meanwhile there were more customers coming so he got back to me after 20 min that my car is not done and it would take another one and half hour once they start the work. At this point it is already 2:30, the time they promised earlier and they still haven't started the work. At 2:30 the lady came back and I asked her why was n't I told about how much time it would take correctly, she was very rude and said she doesn't want to talk. This is how they treat their customers. If she had told me the realistic time that it would take I would have arranged a ride back home and would have come back later to pick up. Poor customer service and never go back there. read more

WW website is useful for entering car model and getting an exact quote for tires and installation for your specific vehicle. Not helpful is their bait-and switch between the online price quote and the one given when you show up. When I showed up at the San Mateo location for my appointment and asked them to confirm the price, the $650 online quote from the previous day had ballooned to $800+ at the counter. When I repeated the $650 online price, the person at the front desk asked me if I had a printout of the online quote. Of course not. Shame on me. What was I thinking? I left in disgust. Incredibly dishonest. I booked an appointment on-line but was told that if I came in earlier it might be quicker. I came in a couple of hours earlier and was told that they were really busy and it would take 5-6 hours. I said that wouldn't work as I was told 2 hours and had to go somewhere later. They said they'd try to do it faster, it took 5 hours. I had a coupon, they said they didn't have the right oil in stock and that it would cost more than double. At that point I should have just left, but I have a busy schedule and need to get these things done on the weekends. When I got the final bill they actually charged me an additional $10 with no explanation. I didn't notice until I reviewed the bill later. I asked if they put the sticker with the next oil change date in the window. He said yes, I should have known that he lied. Everything about this experience was dishonest. They are everything that is wrong with corporate America. The technician's name was Vincent. Vincent, I hope that everyone you encounter treats you with the same shameless dishonesty you showed me. You are a truly awful person. Pretty much ANYWHERE else would be better than Wheel Works. read more

I get that we all have individual experiences, but my recent experience with Wheel Works in SM was not at like the negative reviews I've seen. Granted, their online call center is crap. Not organized, made promises of in-stock inventory when there was no inventory at all. Annoying. I called the store first thing in the morning because I had a feeling. Good thing I did. I talked to Toni and she is one of nicest, most helpful, customer-service oriented people I've ever talked to. She found me the tires I needed and got everything done on the same day. They stole my wheel locks! The car only had 5,500 miles, I had the locks in the pouch before I went there, then they claimed they didn't exist. They quoted $231.00 to break one lock and replace with a regular lug nut. They are able to get away with this type of behavior because they have you between a rock and hard place. They are a huge corporation with many locations, so they rely on volume. On top of that they claimed they could not repair the tire, when in fact it was repairable. I took pictures of the puncture, and showed him, then I dropped my car off with my regular mechanic. My mechanic fixed it easily! He even suggested that I call the dealer and make an appointment for them to use a master lock remover, and order a new lock that can be replaced. I only went to this place because I had to, never, ever again. These people rely on people they can screw. On top of that, the clerk at the counter was rude, and dismissive. I told him to fill my tire to specifications, and he only filled it to 16 pounds. read more
