I felt bad when I, being clumsy, smudged the paste while it was still drying but she was completely cool with it, said that it happens all the time, and had no problem fixing it. We sat outside at a park while she was applying the paste and a few passerbys stopped to compliment her skill and ask for her card. It's also super refreshing to meet someone who genuinely wants to share her professional-level, artistic skill with others!

Her work was our first choice and our initial online contact was the more informative and detail-oriented than the other henna artists I contacted. Unfortunately, Covid changed our plans as I was about to contract with her. When it came time to schedule again, I decided to review several artists again - just because that is who I am. Since we are not Indian, but the groom is, we consulted his mother for recommendations. Independently, the mother of the groom asked around and her friends thought Shazia's work was first rate too. Unfortunately, it looked like there might be a conflict with the day that the bride preferred to have her henna done, but Shazia made it work. Shazia put in a 12 hour day to fit us in - and her work did not suffer for it. She arrived with everything including her own table and chairs that she wiped down in between clients. When she came back to do the bridesmaids' hands, she took extra time to help the non-Indians. She was so kind and friendly that she even helped them learn to fold a duppata properly for the evening's festivities. I only am pointing out that it was a mix of Indian and non-Indian guests to stress that everyone was pleased with her talent, and kindness. I highly recommend Shazia. Priya was immediately responsive and came to our house to provide bridal and groom henna a couple of days before the wedding which was super convenient during a busy wedding week. She was very kind to talk to and very detailed with her designs. A couple of days later, Avani came to our welcome party and created beautiful designs for probably 30 wedding guests in a little over 3 hours. I also was not pleased when I was told there was a service charge to use a credit card as a form of payment. When I spoke with Hina the day prior to my appt I asked her if she took charge. She stated yes she took cash or charge. Not once did she mention a service charge. Then when I called her out on it she stated that no one has ever had an issue with the service charge. While I don't have an issue paying it it would've been nice to have been told straight up. I also did not like the fact that she is set up at her home in her living room. I wish I knew that prior to and I wouldn't have made an appt.

She also threaded the center of my eyebrows to eliminate any excess hair. She did a thorough job of cleaning, shaping, and trimming my brows. I am in general so impressed by how the appearance of my face has transformed - no doubt eyebrows are a critical part of framing your face, and Hina has done justice! I also requested a henna tattoo. I asked if I should spray the pattern with lemon water to restain the tattoo, and Hina replied that the henna used is good quality. When I got home from my trip, I saw that she was true to her word. The henna yielded a promising strong stain, so my fear of a shabby henna was erased. Hina is a sweet and accommodating beautician. I am looking forward to revisiting!!!
