So, here's the deal. I'm stressed out, tired, and don't want to pay for someone to deliver pre-chopped lettuce to my front door a la "meal kits". I also hate coming home at 6PM, cooking for 30-45 minutes only to have a sink full of dirty dishes to deal with.
After a lot of research and time, I decided to try some local "pre-made meal" places. What's Cooking only had one Yelp review, but reviews on other sites (those that shall not be named!) were overwhelmingly positive. They have a cute little sign and are easily accessible, with plenty of parking. I figured, why not!
It could not have appeared in my life at a more perfect time. I came down with a viral infection, bacterial infection, and bronchitis (or something like that, I ain't a doctor). I was MISERABLE. Fortunately, I had stopped by earlier in the week to grab a few things to have on hand, and it saved my butt.
I have now gone there twice, and feel like I can fairly rate the experience.
The shop is clean and the staff is very friendly. There are TONS of options, with both fresh and frozen meals. I always get the frozen meals, as they pop right in the freezer.
I've so far had Shepherd's Pie (filled with huge chunks of beef, veggies, A+), Chicken Pot Pie (huge chunks of tender chicken, all kinds of veggies, so good OMG), Minestrone soup with ham (where have you been all my life?!), loaded potato soup (so. good.), beef enchiladas (the only one I didn't love), and chicken crepes (I would eat this over pizza, cheeseburgers and french fries any day).
The food is amazing, high quality, and VERY affordable. I could get 3 servings out of the medium size portions, which are $14/apiece. Less than $5/serving? Excellent.
Stop buying frozen garbage already, and go here. You won't regret it! read more
