Pros - the lady who served us was super sweet - clear and easy to read menu (wish they had pictures though) - fried zucchini comes with regular or spicy ranch! - the fries could be seasoned as spicy or not spicy, and it came with a side of ketchup ready to go - the presentation of the food made it super easy to grab and eat/share - they accept card or cash - we didn't wait long for our food Cons - the fried zucchini was a bit mushy on the inside, and it was a relatively small portion for $4

Always hate when food trucks sell out, though it is understandable. Friendly employees, ready to answer any questions regarding the menu. What did we choose tonight? *Fried Mushrooms were unsatisfying. Slacking on flavor, breading overpowered. *Southwest Turkey Melt Sandwich, full of creative ingredients. Avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pico de gallo, and even some kettle chips! Turkey was tasty deli thin cut, flavors came together well. Texas Toast was grilled with the right amount of butter an oil (you know how often places serve it drenched in oil!). I will say that the cheese was a little firm and the sandwich a little lukewarm for a "melt". Chose *Potato Salad as the side, which was tastier than expected; appreciated that there was not as much mustard or vinegar as most. *Mushroom Swiss Burger ironically had cheese that was far more melted than the Turkey Melt. Which was awesome, of course. Fresh and flavored sliced mushrooms (unlike them fried ones), a tasty fat patty (moist, tender, maybe a little extra flavor needed), and buttery, slightly sweet buns. Overall excellent. Came with *Fries, which were satisfactory; some were burnt and dry. Dessert was a *Fried Twinkie with Raspberry Drizzle. Oh, it was heavenly.

No. Did I know there was a Castroville-favorite restaurant there as well? Also no. We had to try it. Located inside the Alsatian Golf Club's clubhouse is their 19th-hole restaurant and bar: Julianna's Restaurant. Upon entry, you realize the place has been around for some time. It feels very classic San Antonio, with wooden walls accented by tan and white bricks. The restaurant's aged interior gives it a cozy, lodge-like charm. Though the restaurant was pretty busy on a Saturday night, we were seated instantly at a booth that gave me a perfect view of the Georgia-Alabama game on the bar's TV. After nine or eighteen holes, you never know what you're in the mood for. That's why Julianna's has plenty of options: sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, seafood, steaks, and other meat dishes. Our server came by very quickly and got us our drinks, which for me was a tall Saint Arnold Oktoberfest. I had a tough time deciding between two options: a bone-in pork chop or their creamy Cajun pasta. I opted for the bone-in pork chop with a Caesar salad, bacon green beans, and herb rice. My dad got the creamy Cajun pasta, and my mom got the Southwest chicken. It wasn't long until the Caesar salad came out, with huge croutons and a generous helping of dressing. It was excellent to the point my mom wished she had ordered it over her chicken tortilla soup, which she also enjoyed. If you ever order a meat entrée and they stick a steak knife in it, you're in for an ESPN Instant Classic. The pork chop was huge, topped with a house raspberry chipotle sauce. It was tender and cooked well. I'll admit, trying to find the bone versus the pork was a challenge, but I think that was a me issue. I would order it again. As for the sides, the bacon green beans were sneakily running for Sixth Man of the Year, and the herb rice paired with the pork chop quite well. I would go back. The meal was high quality and felt like a hidden gem even for longtime Castroville residents. What a treat. RIYL: Going to golf courses while being very bad at golf.

26 Jul 2023 We had…read moremade a reservation for 4pm, because it sounded like you needed a reservation. We got there at 3:50pm, walked in and no one was at the host station. There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Reservations were made ahead of time for 4 and upon arrival we were were seated right next to the large open windows. Ordered the Berry Patch cocktail- nice and refreshing with a splash of mint leaves. Menu wasn't overwhelming and had a nice assortment of dishes. Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Restaurant was really dark when I rolled up, thinking it was closed or something. But nope, they were open for business and open until midnight as usual. Sweet! Cuz this family is hungry. Raymond met me at the drive thru. Isn't it so much easier to order face to face instead of through a speaker box?! He was so cordial, professional knew his menu well. We got through, what I thought was a complicated order, very quick! He asked if there was anything I wanted to add and I asked him for suggestions. He recommended the Texas Sheet cake so I happily ordered 2 pieces. A worker by the name of Ruben met me at the window. He efficiently went through my order to be sure all sounded correct and worked to gather my order. Received my drinks within a minute of waiting. He was so smiley! Just the sweetest. Once home, we unloaded everything and the food was good. I enjoyed my regular sized order of loaded fries "all the way" (cheese, bacon, jalapeños) and honestly, couldn't even touch my burger. I had the Orange frozen drink which was nice, but tart and wished the shaved ice slush was smaller. I love that this place has crinkle cut fries - my fave! I highly recommend this brand new location. While I used the drive thru, their dining area was cute, modern clean and well lit. They also have an outdoors dining area. The staff here are efficient and friendly. I recommend the Oreo Shake and the loaded cheese fries! I enjoyed my first visit here! If anyone knows where I can find a good chili cheese fry, let a sista know?! Please! Why is that such a difficult thing to find in San Antonio?
