Service is extremely slow ranging around 20+ minutes to receive a fast food order when in person. Majority of the time the orders are not correct...don't order through their app either because what is a 20-30min delivery time turns into an hour and a half before you get the order because the deliverers cancel the delivery so a new driver has to get assigned. Nothing is worse than a re-do of a classic meat patty, cooked to order, with your favorite toppings. I work in the medical center and occasionally stop by this place for lunch. Every time I have visited this place, I have had some sort of problem: mixed up orders, extremely long wait time, rude staff, etc. I stopped by for lunch on Saturday (8/21/23) and place on order that totaled $11.29. I had $12 cash which I tried to give to the cashier and she refused to take my cash because one of the one dollar bills had a small tear in the corner. (See photo). She justified not taking my cash by stating that worn out and torn dollar bills don't go into some kind of bill loading device. Who does that? Is that what customer service has come to? I did an order for curbside pick up and added the number and they kept asking me if I was so in so so they can give me the food and I was none of those names. Than someone said you owe $36 and wanted me to pay when I paid through the mobile for curbside and I told her I already paid. She went to several vehicles asking for that money. An hour goes by and then they tell me that my order was already picked up and I told her no it hasn't I've been here waiting for an hour so basically end of the story they gave my order to someone else and I had to wait additional time for them to make my order again. Went to drive thru. Was told to go in line B. Waited forever for food. Saw a bag by the window sitting there. Honked at them and it turned out it was our food. They finally brought it out but they would not make the person in front of us move despite our telling them we had an emergency. WORST EMPLOYEES EVER. Do not leave before you thoroughly check your food is correct. The people that work here are legitimately incompetent. They manage to make very simple orders completely wrong For example, one morning last week I went inside to order a sausage and cheese biscuit. Just that. No side. No drink. No condiments. I went to whataburger 10/1/2019 and placed a to go order at 0515. My food was served at 0536. I traveled home to discover that although I ordered a breakfast burger with double meat and cheese, it was single. My chicken strip sandwich was DROWNED in BBQ sauce. I travel back to have the order fixed at 0544. Ruby the manager seemed to have an attitude that she prepared the order wrong. She admitted that she did not see that I ordered extra meat and cheese. She remade the food. My order was finished at 0613. They offered me an apple pie for the fact I spent a literal hour trying to get food.This time before leaving I checked my order at the counter. In the bottom of my bag with my burgers and fries was a black bug that looked like a small roach or a louse. I point this out and Ruby tries to convince me that its just a piece of food in the bag. The cashier Jack H. dumps the bug onto the counter top and Jack H., Ruby, and the second manager (I don't know her name but a tall Caucasian woman with black hair) acknowledged that it was in fact a bug. At this point, Jack offers me a new bag...not new food. I ask him is a new bag going to negate the fact that a bug was in there with my food. Ruby and the other manager began to speak to as though I am being unreasonable because I no longer wanted food that had a bug in the bag. During the refund process, I asked for a copy of the receipt so I can call corporate and they said they cant give me a copy because its not my copy. I had to persuade them to give me the number for corp. The woman (African american with braids) that worked drive through was the only person that seemed to have manners and understand because while they were refusing to give me a copy of the receipt, she came over and asked them whats their problem. She said something to the effect of "this man has been here an hour for his order, had to return it, and then was sold food with a black insect in the bag...and you are not willing to give him the number for corporate." I was refunded my money and not apologized to or offered any type discount or consolation for my wasted hour. I left an hour later in the same condition, hungry and unfulfilled. Its funny because almost every time we go there the food is either cold, drink machines are too syrupy, or the order is incorrect. Not being a native Texas, I thought that all Whataburgers were this low quality. However, working in the city of Houston, I learned that there are some very good Whataburger locations. I am just confused how anyone there could have an attitude with me for wanting what I paid for and not feeling that simply placing the food in a new bag takes away to fact that the food was sold with a pest in the bag.
