Go to the Hyatt to see the cool fossils that were once featured in this amazing store on Front street! This store was a highlight of our Hawaii Front street memories and where we got some skull souvenirs. I'm So sad that it was lost in the fire. The people that worked here were full of love and kindness. The prices were fair and the history was priceless! read more

COME HERE FOR YOUR SHARK TOOTH NEEDS!! prices here are just as good or better than your common stores, and a lot more to choose from, plus you are helping a small business. Five year a ago I found a beautiful shark tooth necklace. I always get compliments on it while at work. I told myself on this trip I would find this store again ( couldn't remember where it was or name) to get myself another one. I found them! I was like a little kid in a candy story. I found myself another beautiful necklace and I can't wait to wear this one at work as well. Thank you to all the sweet and amazing ladies that were working there. I'll be back !!! read more

Whaler's Locker - Shark tooth - Jewelry Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

See all

Jewelry by local artists can be found in this tiny shop! I found a sterling silver whale puzzle ring here & sterling silver fishbone pendant that was unique because it spelled Aloha inside it! My daughter found a beautiful sterling silver plumeria ring. There were other things in here too, but I always go straight to the jewelry cases! read more

Whaler's Locker - The whale ring is from here. The ring on my index finger is from Shell Bell Designs in CA. - Jewelry Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

I picked out bracelet that was $45 on the sticker and ended up charging me $67 with tax for one bracelet... They were also very stingy when asking about deals with several included items. The excuse was because of lockdown happening over 2 years ago! Tagging on an extra $20 from someone else's pocket seems to be what kept them in business. Super cool store with very cool pieces but running a business doesn't involve false advertisement or overcharging. read more

First, I love places like this. Very cool and interesting. Second, Great whites always are intriguing to me so I wanted to get a great white tooth. Bought one today (1 1/8 inch for $75) and it's very cool to look at. I will design it to be worn myself bc the pieces they offer, gold and white gold, are too steep for me (starting at $400 for the smallest tooth). Service staff was helpful. Very pricey for the good stuff like great white teeth but if you want to get someone a cool gift, this is the place to go. Overall: B+ read more

Whaler's Locker - My great white shark tooth I bought from Whaler's Locker Inc. - Jewelry Near Me - Lahaina, Hawaii

This little shop is packed with some incredibly cool and unique fossils - and everything else that has to do with sharks and megladons. Definitely worth stopping to browse, even if you're not in the market for shark souvenirs. read more

Natural history buffs, nautical nerds and fossil collectors take note! Whaler's Locker has some of the best specimens I've seen, and I've seen a lot of great specimens in my day. (Believe me.) If you're hanging out in Old Lahaina, whether as a tourist or a local, swing by--there's something new to see every visit! From a fossilized cave bear skull (Ursus spelaeus for you binomial nomenclaturists) to black coral and amber jewelry to scrimshawed Damascus knives, there are truly incredible treasures to behold here. read more

A very good selection of gifts and the owner is the nicest funniest guy, we are very happy with our gifts

Cool shop on front street! Very unique and unlike anything else we found on the island. We stopped by on a date night and took the kids back the next day. Staff is very knowledgeable! Would definitely recommend checking them out! read more

the COOLEST and most unique shop we found. This guy has a treasure trove in here. Definitely check it out for some authentic Maui finds!

Even if you don't buy a thing this shop still merits a stop along Front St. in Lahaina, HI. I've been drooling over their selection for more than 10 years now and have to stop in every time I get back to Maui. My prized purchase is my Maui Whale necklace...I get a million and one complements on it and though it wasn't cheap I don't regret parting with the cash! Looking for something special, this place won't disappoint! read more

In August 2010 I bought a shark skin wallet there. It was not cheap but not expensive. It is the most expensive wallet I have ever bought. I was told by the owner, Robert, the wallet would hold up longer than any other leather wallet. He is right! Today, Feb 1, 2012, over 17 months later the wallet looks great. It will not need to be replaced for a long time. The shark skin shows very little wear and the stitching is holding up perfectly. Buy the shark skin wallet! read more

Really beautiful quality stuff I just wish there was a way to buy the jewelry online!

Every time I visit Maui I HAVE to go here. Very friendly and informative people. I bought four different shark teeth from them, including a megalodon tooth! I definitely recommend coming here, especially if you're already in Lahaina on Front St. read more

Awesome little shop. We were just passing by and decided to stop in after seeing some interesting items on display in the window. The gentleman working was super knowledgeable and took the time to explain the history behind all the items that caught our eye. We loved the experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Some of the coolest and most interesting things I've seen! Even if you don't buy anything this place should be a tourist attraction for all of the neat things this place sells! Will comeback again if I ever go to maui again. read more

Went in looking for an interesting souvenir for my 11 year old and came out with a real Megalodon tooth. They have some of the rarest and coolest items I've ever seen in one place. I would go back to front street just to go back in. If my wife hadn't been with me I would have spent considerably more time and money I'm sure. read more

I have been in this store so many times, I have lost count. I am from Texas, and of course there is nothing like it here. I am a scrimshaw fan, and this is by far the best place to find quality artwork on whale's teeth or other fossilized ivory. The owner and staff are experts...they know what they are selling, and they are always eager to just talk, to share what they know. (Except for Bob, he is always trying to sell me something.) Just kidding Bob! Can't wait to see all of you in a year or two. Chris C Shout out to Michelle & Jessica read more

My sister purchased an exquisite knife three years ago on her trip to Hawaii, and I phoned today wondering what it was actually worth. Presentationally, it's one of the nicer things I own. I had believed it to be worth significantly more than I was told she had paid; the lady who answered the phone asked a few questions and guessed it probably cost my sister $75. I do see some reviews noting personality differences, and I took note of the same issue during the beginning of our conversation. I had initially enquired on how I could contact the artist and was met with immediate rebuke, but I remained diplomatic and was informed that often the artists are "poached" (my words) and I did understand why my request was unwelcome. I would not recommend anyone go there to make friends (laughs,) but our conversation warmed up once I acknowledged her rationale and she became very friendly and helpful to me even though I was not a potential customer. If you get a bit of a cold reception, you should assume you've been misunderstood and maybe judged a bit too quickly. If it's worth your time, encourage them to warm up to you and I'm sure you will get excellent service. I was told this was likely deer antler, which is usually shed. I'm very glad nothing was hunted and killed for this ivory. If you have similar concerns, you should enquire specifically about each piece you are considering, as I am not sure if this is always the case (nor did I ask.) The detail on the dragon carving is just incredible. If it's only going to sell for $50, I'll have it for the rest of my life (short of gifting it.) This is the only blade I have ever handled which is sharper than my Ka-Bar. Actually, it is sharper than a fresh razor blade. Be very, very careful when folding! And don't let a personal misunderstanding keep you from owning a Doug or Derek Fine piece. The store owners have a separate business from the artist, and I would consider it a tragedy if their impeccable work received no support. read more

This shop is beyond cool. I bought a dinosaur tooth for my boyfriend! A must see. A little pricey, but a neat little shop with some really cool stuff. read more

In 2007 I was in Maui and, for my sister's graduation, we pooled our money to buy her a shark tooth necklace (a work of art). For many years I drooled over her necklace and wished I had one of my own. Three years ago I finally went back and got mine. We both receive non-stop compliments. Two years ago we returned and our parents bought us birthday gifts a beautiful ring and pendant made from an allotment of the ivory/teeth left over from the whaling days in Maui. There is not a day that goes by that we are not wearing one or the other or all the jewlery from Whaler's Locker. It is not just jewlery, it is artwork. I am going back this March and am already saving up for my next purchase. read more

Thank you for making my son so happy. He bought a defective shark tooth and came back home a year later realizing a crack in the tooth when all he did was placed it in his room and never wore it. He was sad because we only go to Hawaii once a year and I told him we may not be going this year! I called and informed them of the cracked shark tooth and the owners were so nice and kind to say we can bring it back and he can get a new one whenever we will be in town again. I expressed this was purchased a year ago and they said it was fine. They are legitimate and sell only the real stuff and they just want my son to be happy. This says a lot about the characters and integrity of the owners. I didn't expect them to have such a generous offer - I only wanted to let them know and was going to see if it can be repaired or fixed since we paid $70 for the tooth. So, we went back to Hawaii this summer and my son was able to pick out a brand new one that isn't cracked. Thank you again, we will definitely be back for more purchases and will let all our friends know if they are in the market for shark teeth or fossils. read more

I have been buying from this shop for years. I have spent thousands of dollars here. A few years back I purchased a gold necklace for $520. They advertise it as being so strong it has been holding a brick for years and it won't get tangled in your hair. After purchasing, it did tangle in my hair. I took the chain back to Michele, the owner Robert happened to be there. Michele told me it was the clasp not the chain and my hair must have got caught in it and pulled on the clasp. She wanted me to pay for repair. I was furious. Then she continued to give me a speech about how to care for jewelery using weak prongs on a diamond ring as an example. I spent thousands of dollars on jewelery at this store. I know what a clasp is. The clasp was not defective it was the chain. A clasp connects to the chain, it is not part of the chain. I will never buy from here again. At the time of purchase I was told the chain was guaranteed. I just assumed this met the entire item. Michele was full of bullshit. Plus she doesn't know the difference between a chain and a clasp. The items at this store are very over priced. You would think customer service would be a priority. I went a few doors down and another jewler fixed the necklace for free. I would never shop here again. Apparently they hope to never see you again after you make an over priced purchase. Oh, the owner...he said he had no control over the business. I was surely taken for a ride on this necklace purchase. I will never recommend this shop to anyone. The jewler who fixed the necklace said the piece was not solder at all. Amy read more

We've been traveling to Maui for years and buying something special at the Whaler's Locker is a family tradition. It's not just another jewelry or tourist shop. It's special and unique. It's part shop part museum. Looking forward to going back soon. read more

Very cool place and full of Aloha!!! My wife and I were shopping there, and had forgot our wallet (cash only for small purchases) and Michele was sure to make sure we were able to walk out of the store with our small souvenir. When we walked in she was on the phone with another customer using her personal phone to take pictures and send to the customer so he would know exactly what he was buying, and what they had in stock...incredible customer service...as we travel there every December we will be sure to do our shopping there!!! read more

Bob is a very interesting character. Very knowledgeable about Hawaiian history and artifacts. Bought a Hawaiian silver note from him. spent the rest of the time in the shop talking with him about the other items in his store, and his experience with scuba diving. Pretty impressive. Came back a couple days later to learn more from him. You won't find mass produced items in this shop. Quite a few WW2 era items, and older. He was showing me a few Hawaiian coins from 1883. He plays videos on a TV in the store of interesting and rare local fish that he filmed himself. read more
