Whenever I am at Massey Hall to take in a concert, I often walk up the street and pass by CityTV to…read morefetch my parked car. It's up the street, at the corner of Victoria Street and Dundas Street East. CityTV has moved around a handful of times. I remember as a kid, taking the 501 Queen streetcar and seeing the station name at 99 Queen Street East, which was its original location. It was home to some fun programming. I enjoyed coming home from school to take in Toronto Rocks, which was hosted by John Mahjor. He played videos and took requests, including birthday shout-out messages live on the air. Ah, memories! The station then moved to 299 Queen Street West. It ended up being the CHUM City Building. It was home to CityLine, MuchMusic, Speakers Corner, Electric Circus, and more. I remember the MuchMusic Video Awards held at the corner of Queen Street West and John Street for years. I was an audience member for the Marilyn Denis Show one time. I went to see James Blunt and had a fabulous time. Free tickets are always great. I can say that I set foot in this building. CHUM ended up selling its assets to its parent company, CTV. So, another location change happened. CityTV's current location is right in front of Yonge-Dundas Square, in the heart of downtown Toronto. CP24 (the around-the-clock news station), CityLine, Breakfast Television, and many other shows are broadcast from this building these days. I was able to look through the window last Friday and see the CityLine set. It was nice to check it out quietly as I headed to my car. Many Torontonians who have been around for a bit will remember Mark Dailey's voice, who was the voice of City TV. City TV. Everywhere. He was my neighbour when I was young. He lived in the apartment next to my family's. He was always nice. Sometimes, he'd leave his news scripts on the ledge in front of our communal mailboxes. Sadly, he passed away from cancer. CityTV was pretty cool back in the day. I liked everything from the CHUM countdowns to Fashion TV. I don't watch its programming all that much these days. I like Breakfast Television in the morning, especially with Meredith Shaw joining the crew recently. I tend to watch CP24 when I'm killing time, either at the doctor's office, or at work in the lunchroom... haha! It was cool to reminisce and reflect on how programming from this station has shaped me. It's cool that I moved back to the greater Toronto area and I'm still watching Breakfast Television! (467)

I'm a fan of public radio. And I've given over the years to various ones in areas I've lived in…read more But this is the first time I've been in WNED studios. I came for a lecture, free and open to the public. However you needed to reserve tickets in advance. And it did "sell out" well in advance. On arrival there was a checkin process that was smooth and efficient. Once inside the seating is comfortable and well spaced. I don't think there is a blocked view in the house and the acoustics were very good, not too loud, not too low, not scratchy etc. I suppose it being a radio station and all they have that part well organized. All the way down on Lower Terrace, there's plenty of parking here. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. **posting previously drafted reviews, this was written in Dec 2015.

i used to like wned fm mainly because of their program called "music through the night" . back in…read moremay 2018 they told me in an email that music through the night would continue after i complained that it was being cut short on sundays. now they don't carry it at all anymore. they lied to me. here is a quote of what they told me .... "Thank you for your question regarding the change in early morning Sunday programming . The FCC recently required WNED to air an issue orientated program for 2 hours each week. The director of radio and television programming decided to fulfill this public affairs requirement from 4 to 6 AM each Sunday morning only. Music through the night will air at the usual time throughout the week." can't help but wonder why the fcc didn't require the same change from wxxi 91.5 fm rochester ny. but that's just a matter of an hour or 2. the part that irks me the most is the part where they told me that music through the night will continue to air at the usual time throughout the week. clearly a lie. the email they sent to me was in may. only 4 months planning ahead at a pbs station or had this been in the works for some time? any guesses? every so often pbs stations have their tin cup moments. now i wouldn't mind wned helping me with the cost of a channel master 5020 antenna that picks up wxxi 91.5 rochester ny for music through the night. the only classical music radio in toronto.. ( i'm deliberately not including the muzakked version of toronto's classical station which if you do ever tune in to by mistake you will more than likely find it either playing a commercial, talking, or just finishing up a piece of music that is single ( 9 ) digit minutes in length or less. wned, bring back music through the night between midnight and 6 am 7 days a week, including sunday nights from midnight to 6 am, or better yet carry this program all the time on a 3rd sub-channel ( 94.5-hd3 ) ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_24 at least offer an hd subchannel like ksjn rather than throwing your former supporters to the curb like trash. shame on wned. i now support wxxi for at least carrying the program music through the night between midnight and 6. those hourly news interruptions are annoying tho. even wned didn't have those when they carried this program. /my opinion
