The personalities are banal. If you want to waste your time on mindless garbage-- then listen to WBEN. It has become a joke.

NPR has been a staple in my home my whole life. While there was a brief time I listened only to…read moremusic on the radio, I came back to my roots as an adult. I enjoy NPR overall. Yes, they are skewed a little more left than I always appreciate. Yes they are formulaic. Yes they tell somewhat random and irritating stories on occasion. But they also have some of the smartest and most in-depth reporting you can find these days, especially in the "everything's moving at light speed" world we are now in. Buffalo is lucky to have WBFO and Canada is lucky we have it too. You can get the station well into Canada. They carry a lot of the national programming as most NPR stations do, but they have a nice local flavor as well. Its easy to admit, on the rare occasion I listen to the radio, that I'm a fan of this station.

From early AM news to Fresh Air, there's no way to learn more in such a short amount of time. The Capitol Report has educated me on New York politics. I had no idea how divided "upstate" and NYC are - you wouldn't really understand the breadth of issues just reading the local papers. As a blues fan, I can get my fix, and on the weekend, tooling around to shop at consignment and thrift shops, I get a good laugh with Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me.
