Get runaround and a different story from every apathetic employee I talk to. Delays upon delays upon delays are the norm there. I called with a denial of coverage issue. They said there's nothing they could do, delays were United Healthcare's fault, and I needed to Contact United Healthcare to iron it out; so, I did. A United Healthcare employee immediately set up a conference call and said they could authorize my coverage right then in real time. The WEX employee said she wasn't authorized to authorize my coverage and I would have to wait up to 2 weeks for WEX to contact United Healthcare??? Obviously, the delays are on WEX. United Healthcare representatives were very helpful and took a lot of time to try to resolve issues. They were unable to do so, no thanks to WEX! A huge waste of everyone's time. Looks like I'll be paying out of pocket and begging for reimbursement. Wish me luck! read more

I've never before had such issues getting FSA reimbursement & at this point, the money saved from using an FSA account is no where near the cost incurred, trying to get my money reimbursed to me, for medical expenses I've incurred. I have never seen a more dishonest company. They make the IRS look like pillars of the community. I have waited many, many hours on hold to speak with a representative. Finally, I called their client services and waited only 20 minutes followed by another 20 minute wait for an internal transfer. I needed to speak with them regarding a colossal mistake on their part. I did get it sorted, finally, and hope to never have to phone them again. They have hundreds of complaints with the NE BBB, and they aren't even members. They have legal matters pending due to complaints made to government organizations. The Dept of Labor is next on my list. I've included snapshots from my phone of some of my wait times. For example if you go to see an ophthalmologist who is an MD their code have to be in their network or your card is declined same goes for prescriptions at your pharmacy, all will be declined. Let me tell you about how Discovery Benefits took $253 of my hard earned money. Last July 2020 I swiped my card at my dental office for a generic teeth cleaning. Everything was downhill from there. I attempted to use my card multiple times for the following 6 months but my account was on hold! Each time customer service asked me to submit more documentation and more receipts which I did. Never was my account unlocked. With my plan coming to end an December 31st 2020, I knew I had to use my money or lose it. I called customer service for the next 6months every month prior to my plan closure to use money and was told the same thing every time, my account was on hold until I uploaded receipts. Every time, I received the same response with no fix. Guess what happened? My account closed December 31st. The grace period went by. I almost never login to Yelp specifically to bash a product or service; it's very rare that I'm unfortunate enough to deal with something that feels so bizarrely unfair or misadvertised that it requires me to do so... but I'm about to leave $1700 in an FSA at the end of this year, and I'm not happy. My employer has a great suite of benefits by and large, and year one of using their FSA I had a great experience. I swiped the card, it worked. Literally that is all it would take for me to be happy with an FSA- you take my money, and I then spend my money. Unfortunately in year 2 at my job, the company transitioned the FSA to Discovery Benefits. They ask for documentation to support every swipe to a degree that feels as though they're hoping you are too busy to do it, so they can lock up your funds and keep them. Case in point, I had an expense that totaled $14.10 at Quest Diagnostics. Tiny little sum of money compared to what the FSA has pulled from my paycheck, but guess what? Rejected. I contact customer service via email, and they say I need to get a receipt... with the obvious implication being that I've somehow misused my tax exempt FSA funds. Because obviously I'm living it up at Quest Diagnostics or something. I cleared that up pretty easily, since Quest is a massive company that deals with the public on a huge scale and has a transparent online system that I was able to log into to pull my records... but the $624 bill from a local medical center? No such luck. They don't have an online system, I straight up called and ended up in someone's voicemail. I understand that Discovery needs to do some diligence to make sure people don't do ridiculous stuff with their FSAs, but this felt wholly unfair. The charge on the card was to "Los Robles Hospital", and I don't care how much you like chocolate pudding in a cup, no one spends $624 at Los Robles Hospital at the cafeteria. It's a f^%cking hospital. I have made some calls to said hospital, but frankly I do not have the time in my work day to call places of business during business hours and explain needlessly complicated situations to disinterested people who are merely waiting by their desks for 5 PM to roll around. So, I sent them an explanation of benefits from my insurance company from the medical event in question... this includes what went down in the ER, the date and time of my visit, as well as all my personal information, and guess what? They still demand a receipt. Bottom line: Discovery Health is a scam. If you're shopping for an FSA, steer clear! They're counting on those locked up funds at the end of the year in a way which is not good for your employees. read more

Discovery Benefits denied a claim in mid-December, freezing my FSA card, and demanding reimbursement. The claim they denied was to the same doctor they had paid no less than 6 claims throughout the year and was an in-network physician. With no response to the emails I've sent, they're sitting on my FSA balance of over $600 and will claim it by the end of the month. Which after reading several of these reviews is a trend. This is my first year using Discovery Benefits for my FSA and it will be my last. Under no circumstances would I recommend having any dealings with Discovery Benefits. I'm beginning to think this whole company is just an elaborate scam. My transactions get declined half the time. They reject receipts for the most random reasons. I just used the Wax card for a $450 FSA-eligible purchase from Amazon, and two weeks later Wex withdrew payment. Now my Amazon account is locked. My former company hired them for FSA/HSA - long story short, it was a nightmare. No receipt or documentation provided was good enough to submit a claim. Rejection, upon rejection. Total racket. Unfortunately, after leaving my company, guess who they also hired to help former employees maintain health benefits in-between jobs? You guessed it - Discovery Benefits! The number of times they dropped the ball in updating insurers of benefits eligibility was astounding. Oh my goodness, I echo every complaint that everyone has. We left our previous benefits company (I think it was IGOE), and it's been a nightmare to get reimbursement. My claims get denied no matter what receipt or invoice I turn in. The only answer Discovery benefits would give me is that this is what the IRS wants, and then customer service becomes utterly unresponsive after that. It's as if they just don't want to do anything. I didn't do anything different from my previous benefits holder. Typically, I didn't need a receipt when using my flex plan, and when I did, I would send the receipt, and it was done. The reimburse process is so stupid that the a payment to the same dentist will keep getting denied even after I have submitted multiple times the requited itemized receipt. The auto-generated denying notice is quite annoying with baseless contents. Getting to a hold of real person is very hard. Email them will not get response. Fraudulent billing practices - After a few months of using the WEX Valero card for our truck fleet, I noticed that I was being charged late fees. I was sending in payment 10 days prior to the due date, so it struck me as odd. After calling WEX I learned that on two occasions they were holding my payment until it was 1 day late, and then charging late fees. I canceled the account with a $0.00 balance. However, I continued to receive billing statements for monthly fees, and then an additional 32.99% interest for not paying the monthly fees on top of that. Even after calling and confirming the account was canceled, the bills keep coming. Now I am just waiting for a collection agent to call so I can try to deal with it that way. read more

The worst company ever. Not only do the CS reps (and supervisors) talk to you like you're an idiot, they demand Itemized receipts for something as small as copay amounts. I help my family out when needed with their medical payments because money is freaking tight. I tried to explain that the receipts they are demanding is for a copay and there is no other itemized receipt that was provided other than the CC receipt from the two different doctors office's. The two reps I spoke to were both idiotic and said "well we can see your copay amounts here and it's flagged because these don't match your copays". I hate this company. I hope they collectively step on legos. I'm at my wits end with having to pay $100 for COPAY'S Honestly, you're better off just paying out of pocket since that's all you'll be doing anyways, you'll just be cutting out the middle man that is WEX. I tried to pay a medical bill through their website, but the provider told me they never received the money. I spoke with MANY different WEX customer reps and every single one incorrectly told me the money was paid to them. The medical provider sent my unpaid bill to collections and I had to deal with that. Finally, 6 months and countless phone calls later, a representative told me the bill was NOT paid and money was never sent to the provider. You can imagine the embarrassing phone call I had to make to the provider to finally pay the bill. Thanks WEX. Your customer service is awful. read more

Tried to use my dental cobra benefits with UHC, and was told that my plan was cancelled due to non-payment. Like, months prior. Well, I just ended up paying the dentist. It turns out that I had indeed set up auto pay with a monthly check going to WEX and whenI called this week in December, I was told that I could maybe get refunded for $26 for December, but nothing for the rest of the year that I paid into (over $300) and I also got NO benefit form it because I was told taht Ididn't have dental insurance. read more

Wex Health has ruined FSAs! The one star is for the patient phone representative who took my phone call as I attempted to cancel my Wex/FSA after using my debit card for the first time with a respected and trusted doctor I have been going to for 10 years. Of course, she couldn't accomplish the cancelation. She wanted me to do 3 more tedious administrative tasks just to cancel. I politely ended the call, and contacted my employer instead. After using my Wex/FSA card for a $46 dollar copay, I received an email from Wex demanding a series of tedious time consuming administrative tasks of me. Receipt, print, fax, Mail to prove I spent MY money at MY doctor. Wex's slogan should be: "Wex is proud to have turned your Flexible Spending Account into an INflexible one. Here at Wex, our goal is to make you jump through hoops and waste your time so you will get so exhausted you won't ever want to use an FSA ever again." Everyone needs to contact their Employer Benefits Department to complain about this dreadful company. How sad. I was really looking forward to having an FSA again. Wex ruined it right out of the gate. I usually only take the time to write positive reviews, but Wex is so sub-par, I had to write this. Discovery Benefit's Medical FSA account is literally the worst FSA account I've ever used in my life. Using it is like becoming an HR Benefits Administrator...when you already have a full time job. First of all, they require a receipt for every doctor's visit. And the receipt requires a plethora of information. So if the doctor's original receipt doesn't have all the info that they need, you then need to go back and forth with your doctor until the receipt is accepted. Doctors' offices are not always the most technologically adept, so this process can be a real pain. You may literally have to go in person to pick up a new receipt if the doctor doesn't do electronic communication. In addition, the process of uploading the receipts and the correct paperwork is actually crazy. They make it as difficult as possible. First you're sent an encrypted email. Then, you log into their website, which takes you to the messages section. There are very unclear directions on how to actually complete the claims process. If you follow those instructions, you will either email/mail them the receipt. Emails take 3-5 business days to process. The more efficient way of doing it, which I discovered on a call with support, is to actually scroll to the bottom of their home page and click on an obscure link. That link will then take you to a page where you can directly upload the receipts. And then you can go through an endless back and forth with them about those receipts. Basically, Discover Benefits is trying to discourage you as much as possible from using your FSA Medical accounts. I have used WageWorks and other providers at previous jobs and never had to jump through all these hoops. The only nice thing was that their phone support was very helpful. I feel bad for them that they have to deal with so many angry customers. read more

The documents are unclear, and reimbursements (why they accept or deny) are inconsistent, and I wonder if they actually have people working there because I never get any responses to my emails. I have had a number of issues with submissions - sometimes I'll submit something and nothing happens - no deny no accept, just radio silence. Another time I submitted a file for a recurring child care payment (thinking maybe this would make my life easier vs having to submit one of their forms once a month). I received the first payment of $100 a week back in the first part of January and have received nothing since. This is set up through my employer and it absolutely sucks. I don't care how much money it saves me through taxes - I will not be going back to this again next year. read more

My employer offers a Health Savings Reimbursement Account through Maxwell Health/Discovery Benefits. This allows me to contribute my own money, before taxes, to be used for qualified medical purchases. That money is then exempt from income tax. Managing this account is a part-time job. I have to re set password every time I login to the website, wait on hold for several minutes to get a human, and the claims processing is cumbersome . It's easy to develop the impression Discovery wants your funds to be unused and forfeit to the plan. If you are an HR Admin, avoid offering this 'benefit' to your employees. The juice is not worth the squeeze. read more

You are denying services my wife received to give birth to my child. I cannot believe you are denying my claim for medical service my wife received at a OB/GYN You are stating that you cannot verify services received at the OB/GYN. What you have is a situation where you hired third party service workers who have no idea what OB/GYN is. My wife is with my second child and they have made the payment plan in a way that we will pay the amount in small portions, thus the receipt may not reflect all the various services that are being conducted each time my wife visit the office. As a result, because your third party rep is not seeing specific service provided, my reimbursement request is being denied. I find this incredibly distasteful and will make sure that my HR department know about this. incompetent COBRA provider. Found out from my doctor that my insurance was cancelled. I am on auto-pay with WEX. Checked my account and they didn't deduct this month's premium so I called them and they said since I am calling 2 days later than 30-days, my insurance has been cancelled and it can't be reinstated. When I said, I don't understand, I'm on auto pay, their response was well the system doesn't show that now so we cancelled you. How does an account just magically switch off auto-pay? What is worse, no communication from them to let me know. An error on their part and I now have no insurance. Awful company with customer service to match.
