We immediately loved the idea of having food cooked over the fire, but it was the first phone call with Luke that sealed the deal. He's an expert; the way he talks about weddings immediately inspires confidence and calm. We were planning everything from out of state, and Luke made it remarkably easy and fun. Not to mention how stunning the food actually IS! My husband and I had the time of our lives at the tasting, and at the reception we must have heard about a hundred times that it was "the best wedding food ever," from guests. The presentation is out of a magazine... in fact, I believe they were recently featured in Vogue! (Congratulations, wonderful people!!) The menu options are unique, fresh, and basically all of our favorite foods. And speaking of favorite foods, they have these chargrilled oysters! I must have eaten a dozen of these, as the very kind staff kept walking them past my husband and I during cocktail hour. What a tremendously happy memory. Thank you, Luke and The Hindquarter for making our wedding unforgettably delicious and special. We can't wait to come back to VT and eat more of your incredible food! HIRE THEM! :)

Go hungry. I found…read moreThe Hindquarter through a Yelp event, to which they brought such tasty nibbles as smoked chorizo with tapenade, steak tartare on potato chips, spring rolls with julienned carrots and cucumbers, and lamb meatballs in a creamy cheese sort of sauce. The spring rolls were a flat experience, but it's truly in their meat that they shine. I tried their pork bahn mi at the ArtsRiot Friday food truck event. The meat was perfectly seasoned and seared, the flavors and texture well juxtaposed with pickled vegetables and grilled, buttery roll. For the work and expertise that goes into the meat preparation and flavor combinations, this sandwich was worth every penny of the $9 they were asking for it. I should not have tried it after a late lunch and on such a hot day, though: had I been profoundly hungry when I ordered it, I can only imagine that this would have been a wonder. Next time, I'll hit it up after the gym.

We…read moreworked with 7 other wedding vendors, all of whom received glowing, five-star reviews from us. Unfortunately, this caterer was the one vendor that caused constant stress and frustration and turned what should have been a fun planning process into a 7 month-long headache. While the food itself was delicious and the on-site staff were friendly, that's where the positives end. From the start, communication was slow, disorganized, and full of errors. We requested two in-person meetings to clear up repeated mistakes, and both times were promised updated proposals within a few days. Instead, they arrived 3-4 weeks later, only after multiple follow-up emails and phone calls. We didn't even receive our final invoice until 11 a.m. on our wedding day. Food & Service: We were charged for four servers but only had two. Guests had to refill their own water carafes and even serve themselves salad on what was supposed to be a staffed buffet, and this was at the direction of the owner! Dessert was never served, and we ended up cleaning up leftover food, garbage, and bottles the next morning. Unlike every other vendor we worked with that day, who checked in upon arrival and throughout the evening to ensure everything was going smoothly, the owner never checked in with us at all. Bar Service: We were told we'd be invoiced after the wedding based on the number and types of drinks actually consumed. Instead, we were charged six hours before the event for a predetermined number of drinks at the highest price tier on her menu. The bar also closed 30 minutes earlier than we paid for, something we only discovered when the bride went to order a drink and was told everything had already been packed up. We also were told we would have two VTLCB-certified bartenders but only had one. When we questioned it, the owner admitted that the third food server had been pulled to work the bar, which meant an unlicensed individual was serving alcohol to our guests. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the owner sent a series of aggressive, accusatory emails demanding immediate payment while acknowledging errors on her end. When the groom called her to discuss corrections, she apologized for her tone and agreed to send an updated invoice. He even offered to pay for the services the servers had already provided as an act of good faith so she wouldn't be delayed in receiving payment, but she declined the offer. What followed were multiple hostile emails filled with false claims and personal accusations, including that we distributed more drink tickets than we paid for, a claim disproven by her own photo and our accurate count. Her behavior after the event was shocking, combative, dishonest, and deeply unprofessional. We've since reported our experience to the venue that lists her as a preferred caterer so future couples are aware. It's so disappointing because every other vendor we worked with was wonderful, responsive, and kind. We wish this had been the same experience here. If you value transparency, honesty, and respectful communication, please take this as a serious warning. The Roving Feast misrepresents its services, is evasive about pricing, and treats clients defensively and disrespectfully when questioned. It was, without exaggeration, the most stressful part of our wedding.

EBC is incapable of performing catering for a Wedding Reception. For our September 2025 wedding,…read morethey failed to provide the following services which were included in the contract:  * EBC failed to provide one of the two entrees we contracted (it was sent to the WRONG VENUE!) * EBC served the wrong salad. * EBC did not provide table linens included in their contract. Our venue luckily had extras. * EBC did not set the table, wash dishes, or fill water glasses. They only sent a staff of 2-3 to take cater the reception of ~90 guests, and did not show up on time. ALL of these missing services were provided by our Wedding Planners, who thankfully were able to step in to minimize how late reception dinner was served. * EBC did not serve Dinner until 45-60 minutes later than contracted, and would've been even later if we did not have bespoke Wedding Planning staff available. * Most crucially, EBC specifically told us they could perform a celiac-friendly service. We told EBC of a wedding guest with severe celiac's who has previously had seizures from gluten exposure, asking if we should provide a separate GF meal for them. They guaranteed they could serve their gluten-free menu options without any cross contamination and would provide signage for GF safe items. At reception, they used the same tongs for the GF and non-GF rolls, and servers were not at all knowledgeable that the service was expected to be GF.  Our celiac wedding guests did not feel safe eating the meal after observing this and luckily our venue lodging was onsite so they could heat up a freezer meal instead.   The quality of the food served to our reception was decidedly lower than the food which was served to my wife and I during our tasting. Pasta sauce that was smooth and sweet with caramelized onions at the tasting was bland and chalky at reception. We specifically asked what their prep methods were for our steak protein, and were told they would be sous vide prepped offsite and seared onsite. They were not, and arrived to the venue with steaks already fully cooked hours previously (some of which barely cooked and quite rare). "Roasted potatoes" became plain steamed potatoes.  While EBC was punctual in the leadup to signing a contract, as soon as the contract was signed they nearly ghosted us. I on multiple occasions had to call and leave multiple messages when emails went unanswered for weeks at a time. We noticed the red flag and discussed terminated the contract, but ended up trusting. We should NOT have.    You cannot trust this company or Devon at their word. So please learn from our mistake and do not trust them with your catering needs, ESPECIALLY for an important event like your wedding.

Since I was behind on the normal timeline for choosing a caterer, my only option within my budget ended up being Rick's. He invited us to his restaurant for a tasting and had an array of foods for us. The food was not impressive at all. Bland, weird, lazy food. Rick was very unprofessional during the whole planning process. At that initial meeting/tasting, he said he did not require a deposit and had no contract for us. He said to just tell him a few days before the wedding how many people we will have so he can buy enough food at Costco. Now, I love Costco, but if I wanted Costco to cater my wedding, I would have purchased it all myself and put it on the tables. The other kicker for Rick's is that he only serves his items on paper plates, with plastic forks, etc and the food is buffet style sitting in plastic dishes. Crappy for a wedding. At the tasting we agreed to hire him though, even knowing all the bad mentionables, because we were desperate. Back in our home state, we tried contacting Rick many, many times to get the menu squared away, etc... He never called back, wouldn't email us, just disappeared. We were one month from the wedding and he still didn't answer or contact us. Finally, I was so pissed I basically hunted him down, calling his wife and then his restaurant. He was so unprofessional and with an "I don't care attitude". I was infuriated with his service and yelled at him on the phone, thus firing him! I would rather have no food at my wedding than have him and his crappy attitude and service at my event. It turned out it was a blessing in disguise that he was so shitty, because in my hustle to find someone last minute, we found the BEST caterer ever and they were amazing. Better than we ever even imagined our food/service would have been. Bottom Line, AVOID RICK'S!! He SUCKS! Terrible service. Terrible person. Terrible food. Seriously RICK, what on earth are you thinking? Take a hike from the food service industry!

They helped us come up with a schedule for the day, and assisted us in putting up decorations and moving chairs and tables between the ceremony and dinner. This is really a full-service company. Even though we had less than 30 guests, the staff treated us like we were having a huge gala for hundreds of people (we were even lucky enough to have both owners, Daniel and Lianne, on-site the day of our wedding).
