John Demairus SPECIFICALLY is an aggressive individual that uses a tone meant to demean you if you challenge his behavior. I'll keep this version short and sweet. Had a car full.of ladies, couldn't find an entrance due to what I saw was a chained off entrance, so I pulled into an entrance that had an exit only sign on it. Seeing the parking attendant wondering around I thought it would be okay to pull in there and speak to him. Yelled out to him from the head of the driveway that I had a car full of older women and couldn't find an entrance. "Well this isn't an entrance." Clearly. Since I stopped and YELLED out for your assistance, which is your job. Sorry for the inconvenience. Immediately spoke down to me, when asked to stop being so aggressive he scoffed and started berating me. Im not going to sit there and willingly participate in that, so I opted to pull away and drop where I see fit. My passengers expressed their distaste for John's behavior, tipped me an extra 20 and went on their way. While dropping them John is sprinting across the lot after losing the opportunity to be forthright and helpful, yelling THATS NOT AN ENTRANCE EITHER. I no longer cared. I gave him more time than what was needed to provide simple information. And to sit there and speak to me with a vehicle full of guests to your establishment, what a poor look. Guess what John, play dumb games win dumb prizes. Serves me with a very illegal trespass warning. Cleared with sherrifs that it is a public road and he cannot restrict access as long as I'm not on his lot. A few months later, I missed filtering a call. When I noticed the drop off I already had my passengers loaded. I explained my situation, and with their expressed consent agreed it was okay to continue the ride. I dropped them with no issue and wished them a nice evening. I pulled FAR down the road as to not instigate this man. I come around a blind corner and John is standing in the middle of my lane with his phone out recording as if he owns public property. When approached in my vehicle, I also pulled out my phone, informed him I can do that too and that the road is public. Doesn't this man step at a moving vehicle like he's trying to fake injury or stop me. One day later the sherrif called me to inform John tried to make a false report, and was told to stay out of the public road. This was on my birthday too, so that was a special treat. It has been documented several times and known by the community that if yoy arent paying his salary, then he isn't a friendly person to be around when you aren't paying him. Difficult, deceitful, manipulative, and unapologetic for the behaviors when confronted. I am not a former employee, I am not affiliated with the business or these people or ever have been. So if the review gets taken down again because someone mysteriously flagged it as a disgruntled former employee, just know I have this copied at the ready and get emailed when it gets removed.

The rooms were charming and very reasonably priced. One negative was the lack of AC (except in the bridal suite), but there were fans and freshly baked cookies in each room, which helped soften the (muggy, sweaty) blow a bit. I ate four meals here between the rehearsal dinner buffet, wedding dinner stations, and the hot breakfasts each morning. The food was really excellent- very fresh and local with lots of vegetarian options. Some highlights were a fantastic pesto ravioli and the perfectly cooked bacon at breakfast. The staff was also so friendly and easygoing as we took over the place. They had no problems with the bride bringing in her own desserts, flowers and decorations and did a great job attending to all of our needs without intruding on our family/friend time. All in all, this wedding was the most beautiful one I've attended. This is due to a whole bunch of factors, not least of which was this wonderful venue.

Rick was very unprofessional during the whole planning process. At that initial meeting/tasting, he said he did not require a deposit and had no contract for us. He said to just tell him a few days before the wedding how many people we will have so he can buy enough food at Costco. Now, I love Costco, but if I wanted Costco to cater my wedding, I would have purchased it all myself and put it on the tables. The other kicker for Rick's is that he only serves his items on paper plates, with plastic forks, etc and the food is buffet style sitting in plastic dishes. Crappy for a wedding. At the tasting we agreed to hire him though, even knowing all the bad mentionables, because we were desperate. Back in our home state, we tried contacting Rick many, many times to get the menu squared away, etc... He never called back, wouldn't email us, just disappeared. We were one month from the wedding and he still didn't answer or contact us. Finally, I was so pissed I basically hunted him down, calling his wife and then his restaurant. He was so unprofessional and with an "I don't care attitude". I was infuriated with his service and yelled at him on the phone, thus firing him! I would rather have no food at my wedding than have him and his crappy attitude and service at my event. It turned out it was a blessing in disguise that he was so shitty, because in my hustle to find someone last minute, we found the BEST caterer ever and they were amazing. Better than we ever even imagined our food/service would have been. Bottom Line, AVOID RICK'S!! He SUCKS! Terrible service. Terrible person. Terrible food. Seriously RICK, what on earth are you thinking? Take a hike from the food service industry!

Stunning bridal suite. Plenty of space. That is why we originally selected it as our wedding venue. What we didn't know at the time is that we were hiring some of the best wedding professionals in the business - the dynamic duo of Steve & Jenn. I am not exaggerating when I say I'd get married pretty much anywhere as long as they were running the show. Let me start with how incredibly responsive they were. As a wedding vendor also, this is something I greatly appreciate. I would ask a question and get a response usually within 10 minutes. Jenn & Steve made everything pretty effortless for us. Steve helped us with bar selections, table lay out and set up specialty cocktails. Jenn coordinated with all of our vendors for arrival times, set up and take down. We were able to drop off all of our decor on a Wednesday and Jenn had it all set up when we came Friday for our rehearsal. What a special treat for our bridal party and close family to be able to preview the venue with the majority of the decor set up. A review of our wedding day: we had downpours in the morning and in to the afternoon. The team at the Barn set up for an indoor ceremony just in case. Our ceremony was at 4:30pm and downpours came again at 4:15. As I (the bride) was coming down the stairs the clouds parted and I gave the nod to have the ceremony outside - probably right at 4:30pm. Jenn had the team dry off chairs outside not once, but twice after 4pm and we were able to have our ceremony outside, just as we had envisioned. I doubt you will find this level of flexibility anywhere else where you can literally make the call at the very last minute - it meant everything to us to be able to get married with the mountains in the background. The rest of the night was absolutely flawless. Steve made sure to bring us cocktails during dinner, Jenn brought us an array of apps so we could enjoy our cocktail hour while photos were being taken. I had no idea what time it was all throughout the night, but Jenn made sure things were executed on time. She clearly is a professional and seems so chill but is also so organized and direct when she needs to be. The Barn is no doubt the best place to get married in Vermont. I wish I could do it all over again - every moment was absolutely magical.
