This is my favorite lavender farm in the Willamette Valley. Stunning views of the area and of course the fragrant lavender.

The alpacas were so cute, and the person explaining the alpacas to us was so kind in answering all of our questions. If you're ever in need of some alpaca-warmth, this is a good place to come experience that.

So when we arrived, I ran the door bell on the gift shop door (per instructions on the door) and a very nice lady came out from the office. I asked her if it was possible to feed some alpacas and she said yes. I bought two little sandwich size bags of small pellets for $5 each. All of us (6 adults) was able to feed the very friendly alpacas. They do not bite as they only have bottom teeth. They eat the pellets right from your hand. There were also a few baby alpacas you can feed. Just as another reviewer wrote - they are affiliated with a non-profit organizer and work with Peru to save the alpacas. Alpacas are adorable animals and I'm so glad we visited this farm. There is a little gift shop where you can buy all kinds of alpaca products but we ran out of time - we had so much fun feeding the alpacas. I highly recommend this as a pit stop and you'll learn all about them while feeding them.

When inside the large red shop, so many options of local food, beverage & handcrafted items for sale: cookies, pastries, candy, honey, fresh milk, meat, wine, coffee, sandwiches, chips & so much more. Once done wandering thru or shopping, there is the expansive views out back where one can picnic on the grass, sip some beverages or munch on goodies purchased inside. Also available are table & chairs on the side of the market structure that allows for looping back inside or towards the front parking lot. The grounds are nicely manicured with a variety of beautiful specimen plants to be in awe of. Hopefully you'll go with intent to slow down, relax, linger & enjoy this jewel of a place to visit. Be sure to check out their posted calendar of events as also available on their website.

I just wish this market was more of an actual legit market and less tourist gift shop vibe. On to the details of my visit: I'd been looking forward to a solid local market and this one had been on my radar for a while. Unfortunately this wasn't it. It felt more like a typical Oregon roadside tourist trap with the standard "Made in Oregon" stale chocolates, granola, sweets, etc. The produce sections was relatively tiny and only about half of it looked really good. The frozen meat sections was almost entirely out of red meat, there was a tiny amount of fish and then frozen chicken too. However, the prices are tourist gift shop too. Think $10/lb for asparagus, $18/lb for chicken thighs, $10 for a dozen chicken eggs, $14/lb for ground beef, etc. I eventually just looked through their baked goods and noted the bread was date stamped that it was baked 2 days prior and priced at for a $14 loaf of sourdough. My favorite Portland bakeries all offer freshly baked (as in that same day) sourdough and other loaves for $9-$12. Anyhow, I ended up choosing some local brownies and which looked good but ended up being chalky, dry and clearly several days old. I'd love to see a larger selection of prepared foods to enjoy on the pretty back patio too. They just had a bunch of those pre-packaged sandos & wraps like one finds in an airport. Why not add a little pizza oven and or grill for weekends? Anyhow, there's much potential with such a pretty place like this one but it isnt quite there enough for me to make the 30min drive from Portland again.

The store is a bit overpriced but its nothing egregious. The location is beautiful and they make burgers and stuff on weekends which I would like to try as its a beautiful place to just hang out. There's something really special about sitting down to a meal under their 500-year-old oak tree, knowing the produce was harvested just hours before you ate it. Chefs Christian and Janelle Ephrem build the menu around whatever's actually ready in the fields that week, and it shows: the food is fresh, seasonal, and clearly made with a lot of care. The long communal tables and family-style service make the whole evening feel relaxed and genuinely joyful rather than fussy. The live music series is just as great. Hearing local and touring artists play outdoors on the farm, with the fields and that huge old oak as the backdrop, is a totally different concert experience than anything you'll get in the city. It's laid-back, beautiful, and makes for a really memorable summer evening. Beyond the dinners and shows, it's clear that there's an incredible amount of love that goes into Topaz: it's a genuinely regenerative, no-spray family farm, with happy animals and welcoming people. Whether you're going for a dinner, a show, or just an afternoon wandering the grounds, Topaz Farm delivers something you won't find anywhere else near Portland. Highly recommend.

If you love gardening, appreciate homegrown beauty, adore animals and people with heart and soul, then this is the place for you! I booked online last-minute (the day of, and likely via an online bot, but was not given a time slot to choose from). I called, only to find out Ramona was not even there for most of the day. Since we were flying out the next morning, she was so very gracious to squeeze in a time slot for us later in the afternoon when she returned. Our private tour was nothing short of perfect. Ramona has used her interior decorating background to cultivate a landscape that exudes beauty and peace, and was happy to share her wealth of knowledge in all things lavender, as well as the stories behind the other areas and elements on her property. Being animal lovers, a highlight was getting to see, feed, and love on the donkeys, sheep and other animals that she caringly tends to. Although not actually part of the tour, she even let us take a peek at her fabulous and cozy Airbnb (Urban Donkey Studio) she has on-property, which was unoccupied at the time. Now we have another place we have put on our go-to list! After 2 weeks of hiking and being on the go-go-go, touring Sunderland Acres and getting to know Ramona was an exceptional way to decompress, calm our spirits, and bask in the beauty, peace, and love before heading back to real life. Do yourself a favor and experience the farm's gentle magic - you'll leave entirely enchanted!
