They are truly service-oriented from the moment you reach out to them, and it starts with Dan. He's friendly, responsive and provides detailed estimates immediately for whatever work is needed. We have a 5-zone sprinkler system with a combination of drip lines and sprinklers in the front and backyard. It's a funky arrangement that needed a serious upgrade. His crew (Marvin and Jose) are miracle workers! They are real problem solvers who managed to reroute some existing sprinkler lines, fix several hidden leaks and provide more water coverage in several zones. Marvin and Jose are a joy to watch. They really enjoy their work and it shows. Marvin will even sing while he's putting in new drip lines or tying off others, and nothing seems to faze him. Both men are polite, courteous and appreciative of drinks and snacks while they work. They say "Thank you, so much" every time. After spending the entire day at our home, we tested the system and everything worked well, but there were a few dry spots I noticed the next day. Dan came by today to collect payment and I showed him the areas where water wasn't quite reaching and he said, "No problem." Marvin and Jose will come back to make a few adjustments -- at no extra charge. Best of all, the new parts they install are guaranteed for 5 years instead of one. Who does that? All in all, this was a terrific experience and I wish I had hired this company 13 years ago when we landscaped our yard. I'm so impressed with them and you will be, too.

After deliberating for a few years about getting a spot in the community garden, my sister and I…read morefinally pulled the trigger. And we are so glad we did. The lots are large. There is water at every corner of the lot. And the annual fee is very reasonable. In addition, they have all the mechanical tools you need to prepare and maintain your lot for a small rental charge. You do need to schedule the rental though. And you need to help out at one or more monthly work parties to fulfill an annual work hour requirement but it's no more work than what you would do in your own lot. Like with many a great thing, there is a wait list. But it's worth it, believe me. Not only do you have a great sense of community here, but you can see what others are doing with their spots to get your creativity working. And everyone we've met has been so nice. It's been a wonderful experience. Be warned though, on the weekends you may encounter Remote Control airplanes and helicopters overhead as well as the neighboring athletic fields being used for anything from softball to soccer to frisbee leagues. Work in your garden, bring a chair, an umbrella and a cooler and spend the afternoon talking with your plants. It's guaranteed to de stress your life...oh and having organically grown produce is an added bonus.

Too many reason this community garden sucks. Grass growing through everything and impossible to…read morekeep up with even after mulching for days, and they don't allow installing raised beds which would significantly buffer that, they say because of slugs when I'm actually grass is significantly harder to deal with than slugs. It's called sluggo, works like magic and I didn't have slugs at all. The garden policy here is 4 hrs of work in addition to the $30 fee we are already paying for the plot, which is ridiculous. If you don't work 4 hours during the season they charge you an additional $40. They don't pay attention to people's overgrown stuff that grows into others gardens and don't maintain overgrown paths well, and don't really enforce it when it's a nuisance, aka giant bananas or blackberries or grape vine just growing into your space. It's stupid. And your stuck with whatever comes in that was left from before, aka raspberry and grape vines I was unable to get rid of from the previous gardener of my plot that over grew onto my stuff but now I'm supposed to take care of it because it's on my fence line? Makes no sense if I didn't put them there. Should be the managers job to either remove them or take care of them if they're leaving them there. The manager here isn't really managing anything, they just try to get the gardeners to manage it all, so what am I paying for if I have to now mow/weedwack my paths to use the space properly. And if they do weedwack the paths around your plot they might wack your stakes and bird netting because they're not paying attention. Just one thing after another here. Too many dogs allowed in here and just allowed to bark or whine incessantly bothering gardeners for hours with no consideration for others even after emailing "mgmt" that it's happening. Just tough titty I guess, when they could just easily say no dogs allowed which is how it should be if all they do is sit there and bark. Most people come here to garden in peace. Then you have noise from both drones flying around at the park and race cars at the track. Then there's the water issues during peak summer when it's not working and sometimes shut off for days..its just like what's next?! all in all there's 100 other better gardens to rent that don't have as many issues and aren't as costly. It's not managed well at all.

Lovely! Delightful!…read more Charming Rooms! Welcoming Hosts! Gorgeous Grounds! I could go on and on about this sweet B&B that is in Milwaukie (just Southeast of Portland). Totally has spoiled us for future B&Bs. Terry and Al are amazing! My mom and I were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves for 2 whole days! So, we had Terry and Al's undivided attention. We visited with them in the mornings which made the experience so much more personal and inviting. They have a sign on the door that says something like... Enter as Guest, Leave as Friends. So True! Now... this B&B isn't hard to find but you could easily drive right by it in the dark because the house itself sits up on a little hill with several acres of around it. It's nestled into what would seem its own little piece of heaven surrounded by big trees, lush lawns and beautiful landscape complete with a little bridge. (I think I have pictures... I'll dig them up and post them too.) The house has several entrances (exits), but go ahead and enter at any one of them. The main one is at the front of the house which you can drive to... just follow the little road to the right as you go up the hill. (We didn't.... I saw the parking lot up on the left and just parked.) But you can drive to the front, unload and then drive around to the parking area. Anyways... Terry greeted us and showed us around the house. The house is HUGE! So many rooms and they've done a great job decorating it! Antiques mixed in with comfy sofas and chairs. It's a 3 story house... the main floor has the kitchen, porch, parlor and dining room (as well as Terry and Al's living quarters).... the upper floor has the bedrooms... I think I counted 4.... the bottom floor has the Theater... Yes... a Theater with a gi-normous screen and lots of movies to pick from. They even have a popcorn maker down there. But if you want to do it the quick and easy way... they also have microwave popcorn. The Theater has lounger chairs and throw blankets to get all comfy in as you watch your movies. (Mom and I were bummed that we were so busy and so tired each night that we didn't get to have a movie night. Next time...) The guest room floor had a mini bar area that had a coffee maker and tea available all day long. As well as a mini fridge stocked with water and sodas. So nice to have this! Plus they had wine glasses and a wine opener in case you brought your own and wanted to enjoy a glass out on the porch. Oh... the Porch! This is where Mom and I would enjoy our morning cup of Joe. It was so peaceful and relaxing to slowly wake up, sit on the porch and listen to the birds while sipping coffee and reading our books. So Relaxing! (Note... the house sits up off the street so there isn't any street noise and it's surrounded by a wooded area so it feels like you're "getting back to nature".) And then there was Breakfast... Terry really outdoes herself. You have a starter like fruit or parfait and then you have the main course... possibly mini german pancakes or an egg dish. All of it was D-LISH! And the presentation! She really knows how to plate a lovely breakfast. She took breakfast to another level in my book. (BTW... I love breakfast, so I was taking mental notes on how I should present and prepare my own special breakfasts at home.) The Bed.... the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Even more comfortable than my own at home. The sheets were so soft! I wanted to stay in bed all day. But alas... there were sights to see, family to visit... But I did take a picture of the tag on the sheets so I can try to find the same brand and type at home. I can go on and on... but I won't. If you want to know something specific or more, message me. If... no, no... WHEN we are back in Milwaukie.. we will be staying here again. Love this place. :)
