If I could give this place 0 stars... I would.
I was absolutely appalled at the service I recieved at this clinic from start to finish. Especially with the sexist Dr. Douglas Minton.
First off, I called to make a preconception visit. You see, my husband and I had recently had a miscarriage and were ready to start trying again, so I was looking for a place to oversee mine and my baby's care for this pregnancy. Needless to say, the person who answered the phone was rude and didn't seem to be listening to me or my concerns. I made it very clear that I wanted to be seen by a FEMALE doctor, and that a FEMALE doctor was the only provider I wished to see. After being told "Yeah, yeah..." then rushed off the phone I waited for my appointment.
Get to the office: The place was nuts. No order, no quiet, the front desk lady was brisk and rude not only to me, but also to pregnant women who looked confused on where to go for their ultrasound... it was a mess. So, I'm sure you can imagaine, I was already stressed out when I go back to meet my doctor.
Low and behold, who walks in? Not a FEMALE doctor, oh no, a MALE doctor. The most inconsiderate and rough male doctor I've ever had too. Dr. Douglas Minton walks in and immeditaley starts interrogating me. He procedes to tell me that "you are too fat to have a baby right now. You should try to loose at lest 80 lbs before you even dream of having a baby. There are new studies out that say that if you are overweight while pregnant, then your baby is predispositioned to be overweight their whole life too, do you really want that for your baby?" He laid into me so hard that I was almost in tears by the time he did my pap which was so rough during and later I even bled. As I was leaving he says, "Yeah, you should really loose some weight, you know, we have a really hard time finding the baby during ultrasounds when there is so much fat on the body too, we have to use special ultrasounds."
I had lost it. I got to my car, and cried. I instantly felt as though it was my fault that I had a miascarriage because I was overweight.
Then I realized, that was ridiculous. Yes, I am overweight, I weigh a bit more than 200 lbs, but so do plenty of other women who carry out perfectly normal, happy pregnancies.
I AM pregnant now, I am a ways into my 4th month. I have not gained ANY weight. I have had NO problems. And by the way, Dr. Minton, no one has had an issue finding my baby through all my "fat," nor have I had to have a special ultrasound.
If you are a woman who values herself and her rights and the rights of her sisters, do not go here. We get treated with enough disrespect on a daily basis, why do we need a Dr. to, once again, tell us how everything we do is wrong? read more
