I agree with other people about staying away from this place. Horrible! They are incredibly unprofessional, patronizing and lack skill in basic customer service. I have seen Dr. Cohen for years. He has always been kind to me but all of that changed on my last appointment. The front desk and other staff members have always been rude and brash but I've tried to blow it off and just tell myself that they are miserable people who hate their jobs. That's their problem. A few weeks ago I was out of the medication that the Dr. has had me on for over a year and called the pharmacy. They called me back saying it was denied. I was confused so I called the office and was told Dr. Cohen wanted to see me for an appointment before he would refill the medication. It was a little annoying because I was completely out and knew I wouldn't be able to get in that day to get it refilled and I wished someone had told me sooner. Regardless, I kept my mouth shut and asked her when his next appointment was. She said his next appointment was the following week which I thought was unacceptable considering I was out of the medication that he prescribed and has me take once a day. When I explained this to the receptionist she got a bad attitude and said "well there's nothing else I can do. That's the soonest appointment I have". So I made the appointment and asked to speak with one of the nurses that I often see when I'm there, Nancy. She has always been so kind to me and she is great. I told Nancy about my dilemma via voicemail because she did not answer. Shortly after I received a call from Dr. Cohen's PA, Anita telling me he was not going to refill the medication and I would have to wait until my appointment to get a new prescription. When I told her that Dr. Cohen has me taking the medication once a day and that I was completely out she turned into Dr. Jekyll. With a horrible attitude she abruptly ended our conversation and hung up. That really p'd me off. She's always been bi**hy but this was on a whole new level. I usually don't put up with people treating me that way and was certainly not going to let her get away with this because they were in the wrong and she crossed the line with the way she had just handled the situation. I was already near their office eating lunch at Jason's Deli so when I was done I drove over there to get this straightened out. After Anita found out I was there requesting to briefly speak with Dr. Cohen, she came out to the waiting room with my file in her hand, pointing at me and telling me that there was no way in hell she was going to let me speak with the Dr. because he was incredibly busy and was going to be leaving soon for a meeting. Of course I understand but assured her it would only take a minute. She refused and told me to leave. I told her that I was not going to let her patronize me and that I no longer wanted to communicate with her. I wanted to speak with Dr. Cohen directly about this matter. She proceeded to tell me to get out of her building and that she was going to call the police. By this point I was totally in shock. She left the waiting room and I continued to sit there hoping to catch him on his way out to let him know how I was just treated. At this point I completely didn't care about the prescription...it was the last thing on my mind. I was just floored by everything that had just happened. An hour later, another receptionist came up to me and told me that Dr. Cohen was not there. She said he had left an hour ago for a meeting. He apparently left through another door and I sat there for over an hour looking like a complete fool. I was fuming after she told me that. I was in tears, I couldn't help myself. So a week later when it was time for my appointment with him I sat down and started to tell him what happened. He stopped me and said he had heard all about it from his PA, Anita. She twisted the story to make it seem like I went crazy when they told me he wouldn't refill my medication and that I came into the office demanding to see Dr. Cohen so that I could get a new prescription for it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and got so upset that I could hardly talk. After telling me he was no longer going to prescribe this medication to me, he asked if I wanted to continue to see him for regular/annual check-ups, etc. I was so upset I told him no I think it's best I never come back here again and he agreed. I left feeling so out of sorts that I was just in a daze trying to figure out how we had gotten to that point from where it started. For the record, I am not dependent on any medication, including the one he was having me take daily. After I had my daughter I told him I was having a lot of trouble falling and staying asleep. He recommended I start taking what he takes every night to sleep. He wrote the prescription and handed it to me before I could even ask what it was and what the side effects were. I've taken it every night and it has helped me sleep ever since. read more
