We stayed for one night at the Westside regional park Campground. This was our first time at bodega Bay.The campground is small and is very conveniently located right next to the public ramp for launching your boat. The campground has two restrooms with electricity and running water. The campground is also nearby several seafood restaurants. The food was delicious and we ate it at our campsite while overlooking the water. The campground is small enough that all sites are a very short distance away from the water. We stayed at campsite number 21 which is on the second row away from the water. Most people camping here we're using RVs however we were on a tent and there is grass to set it up. The campsites are small but adequate and there is also running water in some of them. The check in time is at 2 PM and checkout time is at noon. You can bring your dog as long as they are on a leash. There is also an additional fee that they charge per dog. It is also possible to visit the Doran regional park and enter for free for a day visit with your paperwork that says that you are camping at Westside. During the night we were visited by some raccoons so make sure that all your food is stored away. The campsite had a table and also a fire ring. The camp host also sells firewood. Overall it was a nice campsite and I would recommend this location.

Gave this park another try. However, this time with an RV. It's perfect for those hauling long RVs. Lots 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 to 47 are pull through. Great for those who have anxiety backing up. Lots are leveled as well which is a plus. There are no full hookups, but do have a dump station for a fee of $7 using a credit or debit card. I believe it's the same camp host couple that run this place. Cool guy making his rounds ensuring everything is in order. Seen him push out some folks who decided to camp on lot 32 without a reservation. On my second visit, I appreciate this park even more. Never came across lousy neighbors, but maybe it's just luck. I love the open space which is great for my solar panels.

Great location alongside bay, was super windy so we didn't get to enjoy outdoors as much but will definitely come try this spot again.

Nice park, dry camping, dump station and quarter showers. Not as windy as other bodega parks.

We were afraid we would lose cell service but luckily it worked the entire way so we were guided by Waze. The road is quite narrow and windy so best to take it slow in case you run across other cars or bicyclists. There are residences along this road too so another reason to take a slow pace. The parking lot is small but we fortunately got a spot as we waited for the other members of our party to arrive. It had been raining all weekend so perhaps there were not as many visitors as normal. We noticed several friendly dogs on leash as we walked along the well-kept trails. The redwoods are truly majestic and there are many picture perfect spots along the path. We took some beautiful photos of the redwoods with fern in the foreground. It's a nice and easy trail and a peaceful spot to have a picnic. I think they must have controlled burns here because in certain areas, there were redwoods that had blackened trunks. Some of these trees are over 1,000 years old. Take Coleman Valley Road to Fitzpatrick Lane. There is a small parking lot and I've read not to park on the side of the road if the parking lot is full as they do give out tickets.

So we picked up lunch , at Howard's Inn, and took the short 10 minute drive to this lovely Grove. The road to Grove the scenic and beautiful but ...the parking is minimal -- so make sure you get there early and bring a picnic lunch, beautiful views and moments for lovely photos. A perk we always look into are dog friendly adventures ...and the Grove was a welcomed destination for the entire family. ‍‍‍ If you're looking for a dog friendly day, the Grove is definitely a must stop. We will be back.

July 1, 2025 - Bodega Bay…read more Easy access trail off of Highway 1, just as the highway turns inland. $7.00 fee to park. Picnic tables and porta-potty (clean, but out of TP) at parking lot. Trail is wide and flat. Leashed dogs allowed. The trail is a 1-1/4 mile multi-use path (bicycles, horses, hikers) that loops along a saltwater marsh just north of Doran Regional Park and offers excellent bird-watching. The trail circles two freshwater ponds along Bodega Harbor and overlooks marshland that provides habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds and songbirds. We saw a beautiful egret and some crabs. We walked to Doran Beach (dog friendly). Just a note: Horses use the trail, so watch out for the land mines they leave on the trail. I pick up after my dog--can't you pick up after your horse?

There was a bird that was diving into the water looking for its lunch and it kept diving over and over after it came up for air. We saw deer, pelicans, huge blue herons perched in a tree, ducks, seagulls and other small birds. The trail is right next door to Doran Beach but this coastal access trail goes around in a loop and it's only a little over a mile before you're back to the parking lot. This area is rich with birds and if you're lucky, it could be a nice photo opportunity. There must be a crew that comes out to check on the condition of the paths because when we were there earlier in the week, there were large piles of horse manure on the bridge but it was all gone later in the week. Thank you! Parking is $7. Free to those who have a Sonoma County Regional Park pass.
