A very dear friend who is a good customer of Westside Orthodontics recommended this place to me. He loves the place. And frankly, he's got a great smile. And he could afford to go just about anywhere he wanted. I had an initial evaluation. They recommend that I first see a dentist before they begin work on me. Everyone was very kind, efficient, and accomodating. They were all anxious to help. They never tried to push me into anything. I'll provide updates when I go back. Westside Orthodontics has been a horrible experience for me. It started when I opted for braces and the tech who serviced me was new and didn't cure the glue on my attachments leading the wires and brackets to painfully and unexpectedly break off in my mouth leading to multiple lacerations. After that painful experience, I decided that I wanted Invisalign instead, which lead to a month long battle with management in which they finally agreed. After that, everything was fine, and I really enjoyed the freedom of the Invisalign. That was until I moved out of state and they held the second half of my aligners hostage! They required that I fly back to Cleveland, which I eventually did, only to have them charge me $500 for another round of aligners (my teeth had shifted, so the "hostage aligners" no longer fit). Fast forward to today, I'm flying to Cleveland after working my way through the $500 aligners, and I received a voicemail from the Manager, Kelly, who upon calling proceeded to gaslight me describing my my upcoming appointment in two days in the past tense and telling me a story created of whole cloth about how I agreed to be scanned for a retainer and that I can no longer receive any aligners because I moved out of state, which was news to me, because the whole purpose of my flying in was to be scanned for a final set of aligners because my teeth are only half aligned. Westside Orthodontics - My front teeth are too far forward and the adjacent teeth are too far back. - Orthodontists Near Me - Westlake, Ohio

My children have been patients of Westside Orthodontics for several years and until this week, they provided great service. On Monday, I called to make an appointment for my daughter's permanent retainer which had broken off. After making the appointment, I received a call back informing me that if the retainer could not be repaired, there was replacement cost of $355 (which is a ridiculous charge given it is a tiny piece wire holding top front two teeth together and glue). Anyway, at the appointment, the tech informed me that the retainer could be fixed at a cost of $185. I was never informed that there would be a cost for repair. The original permanent retainer was installed in September 2024. It barely lasted a year and yet we were charged for repair. The tech also informed us that they rarely install the permanent retainers as they often break. Really? So basically a device is recommended (and was part of the original brace package) but is not guaranteed. Very disappointing experience and definitely has me questioning any future business with this practice that historically has done such great work. read more

Questionable business practices and dramatic price increases without any notice. After the first set of braces, credits mysteriously showed up when i brought each of my other two children for their first sets. I didn't investigate this initially, but when I did I learned that they were sitting on payments made by the insurance that were higher than their original estimate. One time this amounted to nearly $1000. When I pressed them on this, I was told this was common practice. And they see 100's of kids? How much cash do they sit on and not communicate back to their customers that they have? I don't know if this is illegal, but at best it is highly unethical. More recently I brought my young in for the final set of braces. When I received the estimated amount due after insurance, I noticed the total price increased dramatically since the last set (~2 years). This was the 6th set they were installing, and yet zero communication about the price increase. There are other options out there - I would steer you clear of this place. read more

AWFUL. Do NOT go to this office under any circumstances. They have a revolving door of assistants who all have different ideas for extra costly treatments. It is ridiculously hard to get appointments and when you do, you are rushed out because they literally have an assembly line of people waiting in line for their 10 second appt. If you want braces on for less than 4 years, forget going here. Not sure if it would be different if we ever saw the actual orthodontist of the month but this is no Dr. Dimassa. read more

I was recommended to visit by my dentist, when my permanent retainer on my bottom teeth became uncemented from my tooth. When I called them, they informed me I would need a full appointment and consultation to fix it. When I met with the dental assistant, I explained the issue thoroughly and that I wanted to have it recemented or discuss having the permanent retainer removed all together, as my previous orthodontist who put it on told me that after 10 years or so, and once it started to break on its own, it was probably time to come off. Since I've had this on for 14 years or so, I brought this up as an option based on the previous information I received. She told me that my teeth would probably move and she wouldn't recommend that, but we would see what the Orthodontist says. I told her I was open to suggestions on the easiest and most affordable way to fix. Eventually, the orthodontist came in, made recommendations, and left quickly, with little explanation or time to even process what was said. He showed me imperfections in my bite, etc. He didn't directly address the broken retainer, but since that was very clearly the purpose of my visit, I assumed that his recommendations were to fix my existing issue, not address new issues. Somehow, within minutes, the recommendation spiraled into getting Invisalign-- which again, my frazzled self thought was because recementing it wasn't an option and Invisalign was maybe a cheaper option to maintain my alignment in the way the retainer had, as opposed to reinstalling a brand new retainer? Before I knew it, I was back with the assistant again, who was quoting me thousands of dollars for Invisalign, which oh by the way, insurance doesn't even cover when you're my age. At this point, something was feeling way off and I knew I could not afford Invisalign-- remember-- my initial ask was for a quick and affordable recommendation to fix my retainer. So finally, I asked for some more clarification as to why they can't just recement it and why specifically they were recommending Invisalign to me. Finally, it clicked that they were recommending this for a completely different issue. They conducted the visit as if I was a new patient simply wanting a consultation and treatment plan, not a patient with an existing issue that I simply wanted to fix. Eventually, the assistant informed me that they CAN in fact recement my retainer-- free of charge. So finally, they sent me back and they executed the cementing quickly. However, where as the glue was previously under the wire and on top of my teeth, this was glued over, with an excessive bump of cement that affected my bite and left my mouth sore for weeks. They never once checked my bite to verify before letting me go, either. So long story short--- it was a terrible, frustrating experience with a huge lack of communication. The speed in which they tried to push me through caused them to completely miss the entire point of my visit. When they finally executed the main purpose of my visit, they failed at that too, causing me to have to have it adjusted elsewhere. They are only in business because they very obviously cater to children. The lobby looks like a freaking arcade, with games, prizes, tokens, themes, etc. Kids clearly love the experience, so they don't have to worry about the brash attitude and incompetence of the staff. read more

Awful customer service - price changes/additions without prior notice, cancelled appointments without notice (while claiming they 'sent a message' that I never received). The technicians also lack professionalism - there was always a lot of whispering and 'check your phone' comments between the staff members that left patients feeling as though they were being talked about. I just never felt like the staff was there to help patients, but were there to hang out and socialize with each other. On top of that, it was a rarity to see the orthodontist to be able to ask questions. If you are planning to spend money on orthodontic work, don't go here. There are plenty of places out there that will earn your business; Westside Orthodontics doesn't care enough to bother. read more

Beware of this orthodontist office! Terrible customer service and no follow through. They don't return phone calls or help with insurance claims. Zero help. My daughter's braces went on in September and they didn't file claim with our dental insurance until June. The back office is rude and sneaky. Everyone here are wonderful. My daughters teeth look great. Everyone is nice and kind makes you feel comfortable. My daughter actually liked coming to her appointments. As long as you do what they tell you. Everything will go prefect. I will highly recommend coming here first before you go anywhere else. They also saved 3 of my daughters teeth. Other places we went wanted to pull teeth. But here they were able to do it without pulling any teeth. So very pleased with the whole experience. Thanks for everything. read more

The office had such a welcoming feel right when I walked in. The staff seemed happy to be there. They were smiling, laughing, making small talk and yet all seemed busy at the same time. An upbeat, positive environment. Dr. DiMassa was great. He took enough time to explain the kind of work I needed while also setting my mind at ease with his demeanor. I went here because they were close to my house and they had decent reviews. I went in for a normal consultation and they said that I needed braces to straighten my teeth but also would need cement build ups to fix my very large overbite. They told me I need braces for about 14 months and I got them put on. The problem was I ended up having braces for almost 3 years and my overbite was never corrected. None of the rubber bands, build ups, or bite guards ever changed a thing. My teeth are straighter than they were but they were never bad in the first place. They have two offices that they rotate between, one in Westlake and one in Lakewood. Thursdays they are in Lakewood and I believe the rest of the days they're in Westlake. I remember one incident where I had an appointment on a Thursday so I went to Lakewood and I got there and there was no one there. I called the phone number and they said that this week they just decided to stay in Westlake because The doctor was not in. They had never told me that they had change offices and I had made my appointment weeks prior. No one had told me this prior to my appointment at all so I ended up not being able to go because I drove 20 minutes out to Lakewood and no one was there. The actual orthodontists always came in quickly, looked at your mouth said a few quick words and left all under a minute. Some of the technicians are very very nice and others are not so nice and I've heard on multiple occasions technicians talking to other technicians about patients. The day I got my braces taken off I heard my technician telling another technician how dirty the underneath of my brackets were. Very rude and unprofessional. In the end I paid thousands of dollars to not even fix the issue that I went in for. Braces are fine if you need straight teeth but go somewhere else if you need bigger work. read more

As a braces wearer and patient myself, I like this place. The staff is kind and easy going, and they are very professional. they are also flexible, like if you are 12 minutes late, they won't charge you, and when I needed to get my braces off by January, they worked really hard to try and speed up the process to fit my needs. They are awesome. None of their services hurt (often) and it works! Along with the business aspect, they also have a fun side. Like they had games in the office for kids to play while waiting. And they also have a nickel system, where every time you go, you collect nickels, and save up for gift cards. They also have some stickers! I like the place, and suggest you go as well. read more

So disappointed in WestSide Orthodontics. I will start with the positive. The dental assistants are all amazing. So knowledgeable, kind, and thorough. We were referred to this office when Dr DiMassa was there. We liked him a lot and were very, very happy with him. When he retired, we should have left. The new orthodontist put a retainer in my son's mouth that caused recession. Thank god our dentist caught it. My son ended up having to have a graph in his mouth to take tissue from the roof of his mouth to place where the retainer caused his gums to recede. It was 100% preventable. The surgery is not an easy one to go through for an adult let alone a 14 year old boy. Dr Wenger wanted us to get a second opinion even though our dentist, who we trust said he needed the surgery as well as the periodontist, who we also trust. Dr Wenger wanted us to go to one specific doctor for the second opinion. WestSide Orthodontics took no financial responsibility for their mistake. When we went to figure out the problem Dr Johnston suggested making a new impression for a new retainer. The dental assistant was the one who suggested a totally different retainer, one that sits on top on the teeth instead of the same one that caused his gum recession. Again, two doctors told me how unfortunate this situation was because it was 100% preventable. We have left the practice and Dr Canepa in Rocky River will finish my kid's orthodontic care. read more

Please ask if the Orthodontist does the treatments or does the uncertified staff provide the treatment. I had one daughter get her treatment there, and I discovered that the orthodontist does nothing. My second daughter got treatment at Case Dental School for 1/2 of the cost. Please do your research. Don't let an uneducated person place your braces. read more
