Unfortunately, it received some damage requiring a good portion of it to be restored. Carole was recommended. It was a process and took much effort but she was able to restore the mural and what she was able to do was beyond belief. Some areas so little was left, but was able to keep the mural true to form. She is an incredible artist in her own right and we are very happy she consented to do this job.

This review is long overdue. 4 years ago I remodeled my bathroom. Coming from an interior design…read morebackground, I'm extremely particular about who I have work on my home. I put a lot of time, money and creativity into the remodel, and therefore I was very particular about who I wanted to work with me on it. I hired Carole to paint back in the details on a vintage, Asian TV cabinet, that I turned into a bathroom vanity. Needless to say this wasn't an easy job. The vanity was initially orange and black, however, I had it painted a light turquoise color. When this was done, it completely concealed all of the intricate detail work underneath it. My former faux painter tried to come in and repaint all of the details back in, however, wasn't able to. The vanity has raised figures on the doors, which take a very delicate touch to get just right. There's also intricate gold fretwork around the doors as well as on the sides. When Carole came in, we sat down together, and discussed how I wanted it to look. We went over colors, different shades of gold, the overall feel of it, etc. She painted in not only on the raised figures but also elaborate artwork on the doors as well. Luckily, I had taken pictures of the cabinet prior to having it painted, so she was able to reference the previous artwork, and not just duplicate it, but make it 100 times better! It turned out to be a masterpiece! It is one of the star attractions of the remodel. Everyone who sees the bathroom is absolutely starstruck at how unique it and beautiful it is, and Carole's expert hand was an integral part of why that is. I can't recommend her enough and if you're lucky enough to have her to work in your home, you'll feel the same way. Her skills are easily on par with those of the old world masters. I hope to work with her again in the future, as I have a couple of projects in mind that I would like her to bring to life. Thanks again, Carole. You were a joy to work with.

Aaron created bespoke artwork for us that celebrate our heritage in macadamias, that was created into a mural, merchandise, and expanded also into community events in Hilo as well as Honolulu to celebrate our partnership. Mauna Loa is the heritage macadamia brand from Hawai'i, and it was an honor for us to work with Aaron to give back to the community that we are both a part of. Aaron is from Hilo, and worked with the local schools that he went to- Kamehameha Schools in creating the mural. We threw a Mauna Loa x Aaron Kai community event that was extremely well received, and our staff have commented on how the mural has lifted morale at the plant, as it is such a beautiful piece that everyone sees on their way to work. Aaron is a pleasure to work with, professional, and has become a friend personally since the completion of our project. We hope to work closely with him again in the future. She's incredibly creative and a great listener-she wants to make you happy! Her quality of work is just great, and she's always got a head full of ideas. Custom work is never cheap, and she is a true artist. If you're looking for a cheap job, don't hire an artist. If you're clear on what you want, don't change the game on her in the middle of the project, then the work she'll do for you will be fantastic and a great value.

We contacted Amanda and set up a meeting, and decided to have her create a mural flowing over 2 of the four walls of our master bedroom. She arrived on time, and listened to our ideas. She presented three concepts; each a successful interpretation of the concept we had described at our first meeting. It is her practice to have a very clear sketch of the final work product prior to painting on the wall. No surprises; you know exactly how your walls are going to look before she starts painting. What she didn't know is that I had recently given up a 20+ year career in design and art direction and no longer had a creative outlet. Kudos to Amanda for patiently going through the various changes/revisions to work through to a final version that my wife and I both love. The last part of this included her providing a computer rendered image that I was able to bring into Photoshop and make the final changes to. We took off on a vacation leaving Amanda to do her thing. Upon our return, the project was complete and correct in every detail. Ultimately, the payoff is how it looks. I've uploaded one "before" and three "after"photographs.

I also think it's really cool - in theory - that they show older movies in 70mm. Went with a friend to watch T2 and had a great time. The big downside is that the film quality was quite poor. I'm sure restorers and projectionists were doing the absolute best with what they had, and the 70mm print was simply very degraded. That said, there were frequent jumps where 2-5 seconds of movie would be cut out, consistent sound quality issues, and noticeable tearing and lines all over the picture. If you're seeing something in 70mm here, you're seeing it to appreciate the history and preservation quality of film, not because you expect the print to be high quality. Didn't bother me too much, but want to warn people who might come to a film screening expecting movie-theatre-quality visuals and sound. They're heroically doing the best with what they have, but at least for this print, what they had was very uneven. Still a great time, and excited to return to catch more of their programming!

Snacks are always abound and popcorn is tasty here. I can comfortably sit in the seats for a few hours for the movie and Q&As after. Temperature in the theater is signature movie theater cold so bring a sweater but it's not unbearably so. Parking can be hit or miss but sometimes you'll luck out with a spot in meter parking on the street! Arriving early always helps. Overall, I love coming to movies at Aero Theatre for their organization and seamlessly good experiences.
