I didn't know if I needed to make an appointment or if I could just walk in but I decided what the hell? I entered this very clean and well organized office and was promptly greeted by an older woman who made me feel right at home. I informed her I was interested in getting a quote for my auto and home. The woman walked me over to another gal, Shirley, who politely introduced herself and was more than willing to put together some pricing for me upon my arrival. I thought, for sure, I would have to run home to get her some more info but with today's technology, I was able to pull up my current coverage right on my phone and give her some info so she could compare apples to apples. We went through our auto policies, my home owners policy and I let her give me a quote for life insurance, as well. Shirley and I found that we both use Yelp and started talking about different spots the other one needs to try. We had a nice meeting and she informed me they are collecting Toys for Tots in their office. That made me pretty happy to see! I left feeling like I knew a little more about my current policies as well as more knowledge about my insurance options than I ever knew before. Shirley answered all of my questions and explained things in a manner I could actually understand. They're quotes were better than what we're currently paying and after years of working with an insurance agent I have never even met in person, I definitely want to do business with this State Farm agent and his friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to making the change over, dealing with some incredibly nice people and meeting Scott in person. Check these guys out and ask for Shirley...she's awesome and knows her stuff!

They will end up costing you way more in the long run!

I have owned a home for the past 18 years and in these 27 years I have filed 5 claims. 1 car claim about 2 years ago (I hit a curb in the winter) and 4 roof claims. State Farm has denied all the roof claims and never paid out a penny on any of them. So why is my homeowners insurance being dropped. I should have dropped you in 2018 when every house around me got new roofs after those microburst tornados we had and State Farm said mine wasn't bad enough. How is it possible that the two houses behind mine and the house on the right and two houses on the left and three houses across the street needed new roofs but not mine. At this rate I might as well take all my policies elsewhere. Longevity and loyalty mean nothing to this company.

Anyway, Erik's staff spent a long time on the phone with me answering my questions, much of which was done after their office hours. In addition, I also received a welcome email from Erik the following day which included even more information regarding some of my questions that I asked his staff on the previous day. If this is any indication of the kind of service and professionalism that Erik Nelson's office regularly provides, I am very confident that I made the right choice.

However my cancellation email was responded to in a timely manner. I went to another broker: over 40% off this year's renewal rate (felt so cheap we even added 10% coverage but we were under covered before). The only explanation I can come up with is they aren't into brokering condo insurance (anymore?) and they didn't care whether I stayed with them or paid an obscene rate.

I have been a client of hers for 25 years, and she is truly the best in the business. We started with a basic renter's policy and, as life progressed, Karen handled everything from our auto insurance to our homeowners and landlord liability once we purchased our apartment building. As a landlord, I require my tenants to carry renters' insurance; it is so affordable for the safety it provides. While I don't mandate that they use Karen, I've never had a tenant decline her services when I suggest her office. For many, it's their first time dealing with insurance, which can be overwhelming. Karen provides me with professional "getting started" packets for prospective tenants, and the feedback I receive is that the info is very helpful during the stress of moving. She makes the process easy to understand as they begin their journey toward financial safety. On the rare occasion we've had to file a claim, Karen's office provides true "white glove" treatment, taking the stress out of the situation and handling every detail with care. Whether you are a first-time renter or a long-time property owner, you won't find better service across the Chicago north neighborhoods. I also want to give a huge shout-out to her AMAZING staff. They are the reason this is a worry-free business. Their communication is incredibly proactive; I never have to follow up because they are always the ones reaching out to me first. It is their dedication and attention to detail that truly sets this agency apart. On a personal note, Karen and her team are just so very kind. In stressful situations, such as when you need to file a claim, kindness combined with top-level communication is the best thing a person could ask for. Thank you, Karen, for your dedication and for your wonderful staff.

After calling in to find out the news I was told the policy premium went up over 2x. I cancelled and am with another company. This is some of the worst service I have ever received. I would strongly advise staying clear of this location, there are much better agents out there. UPDATE: upon the policy fully cancelling State Farm has issued me a refund of ~$550 instead of the over $2,000 I am due. This is because they are calculating the refund amount off the new higher premium that I never agreed to pay. A VERY shady practice, and the customer service from Joe's team was absolutely non-existent. I have had to deal with them and the underwriters through escalations with the corporate office. Even the corporate office said multiple times my agent should be handling this directly by having conversations with the underwriter.
