Joe and Mike are awesome service and I had two of my Dodge truck transmissions done with all the billet parts to withstand the abuse and to last longer then the stock rebuild trans on my 92' and 04.5' Ram 2500 4x4 with 5.9 Cummins. Joe and Mike came strongly recommended. My work van would not drive beyond 25 mph. We realized there was a good chance the transmission was shot. Joe took the time to explain the possibilities, but they would need to drop the pan to determine what was going on. Within 1 working day they confirmed the transmission was shot and needed to be re-built. Joe explained all the steps involved which made me feel very confident with the work that was to be done. 1 week later the repairs to my van were completely done, and it runs great!! Mike explained after 1,000 miles we should stop by for them to do a check up on it just to make sure all was running well. Not only are they thorough, so skilled at what they do, they also explain the process which puts you at ease. Very fair pricing too!! I went to these guys because they were close and they had 5 stars... My visit to their shop was disappointing off the start, the shop was a mess and it took me 15 minutes and a walk into their mechanic's garage to find someone to help. After I finally spoke to somebody they told me that they knew exactly what my problem was and shouldn't be an issue, they would call the following day with an estimate. The next day their mechanic called me and said my Radiator and hoses would need to be replaced. $1,500 dollar repair for my leaking hose and problem I thought wasn't a big deal. After a few hours of research, a 2 dollar o-ring and a little elbow grease I managed to fix the problem for a few bucks. I was very disappointed with their service, their shop and estimate. It's my recommendation if your trying to save cash, don't go here. read more

The prices seemed fair and the people were really really helpful. This place is run by a nice man named Joe, who has worked there since the 70s and owned it since the mid-80s. When my 88 Firebird was acting up and the regular guys recommended that I take it to a trans specialist, I had no idea where to go. I frantically called my dad to ask, and he said that he'd been to this shop back in the early 90s to fix his Ford. I figured it was worth a try since the place was so close. They provided me a ride home (Joe's son, also a nice guy who helped ease my worry by explaining what was most likely the problem after listening to me describe my car's symptoms), a fair estimate, and even stayed open a little later so I could pick up my car at a time when I could get a ride. Five stars. My car is running better than ever, though it's old so who knows how long that'll last. but so far so good. I'll go to them for all my future work! read more

Joe is great. I had some issues with my Jeep and called him. Talked about the problem and he said it would be no problem to fix. I told him I was going to bring it in in a couple of weeks. Well, the transmission decided to give up a couple days later. So instead of bringing it in a couple weeks later it ended up being a couple days. Wouldn't take it anywhere else. Joe is a very friendly trustworthy man. My transmission is broken, so i took it to him for him to fix. He was able to order parts for me and replace it for about 3K which was better than what other places asks for and honda dealer. cos my transmission is so bad that it had to cost a that much to fix it. :( I left my car to Joe for a week and he was able to finish it very quick, within a few days. He was kindly enough to help me fix other problems of my car for no extra charge. that was very nice of him, especially where places i go to, people tend to try to be mean and take advantage of the fact that i don't know anything and tries to make me pay more. but joe is very honest. he did a great job on my car and it drives better than ever! It's been over a year since my first review. I unfortunately had some problems and noticed a funny clicking sound after about 7,000 miles. Joe took a ride with me and immediately identified it as a likely bearing failure. Joe said they would fix the problem regardless of the transmission failure cause since it was within the warranty period. Unfortunately it was a failed bearing and they confirmed it was a parts defect. He was true to his word and rebuilt the transmission to replace the bearing at no charge to me. It's been over 10,000 mi. since the 2nd repair and no problems at all. The bearing kit was a direct from manufacturer Toyota bearing replacement for a manual transmission. Too bad Toyota uses a mix of German bearings and cheaper Chinese bearings. The Chinese bearing failed but this is what they put in their original transmissions. read more

For the last 9 years they have helped me with 3 different transmissions in my '69 Mercury Montego. An old FMX, an AOD and my modified Merc's current trans -- a "built to the hilt" C4 -- that is behind a 600HP SBF engine. It doesn't matter how hard I am on the custom C4 that they built for me -- it keeps running strong day after day of my daily driving. Joe did a bang up job replacing the clutch in my 95 f150, he kept me informed during the whole job, offered recommendations and went above and beyond what I expected for the very reasonable charge. I am hard pressed to come up with a better example of old fashioned customer service and value. My 2003 Focus transmission had nasty problems going from 2nd to 3rd. The computer readout said it was one of the solenoids which Joe obtained and installed in short order. He had indicated previously that if the solenoid didn't do the trick then a rebuild was in order. Within a half hour of picking the car up I determined that the problem was still there with no improvement. I crossed my fingers and hoped Joe would take the cost of the solenoid replacement into consideration when I asked about the rebuild costs. He allowed the entire cost of the solenoid repair against the rebuild and replaced a broken transmission mount at no charge to boot. The new trans is as smooth as silk and I cannot be more pleased with Westminster Transmission. read more
