My mom lived here for almost a year…read more She moved here from a private residence. We needed a spot immediately, and I feel the price reflected that need, it was very expensive, maybe unfairly so. I feel they put her in a price point higher and had assessed more care than what she truly needed, and getting that downgraded was more difficult than it needed to be. I feel part of the reason for this was some the forum was in the transition of new ownership which makes things bumpy. When she first arrived was the forum at Knightsbridge and when she left, it was the estates at Knightsbridge? To be honest, I'm not sure what the name of the place actually evolved into everybody still calls at the forum. I have since moved her out of the facility I can say that when she was in their care, her experience was good. She never was treated roughly or had any incidences that I needed to be aware of. The food seems to have gone downhill and I do not like that the assisted living across the street where she lived is not as nice of the public spaces as it is across the street for the independent care that is my biggest ripe of this place the people who need more care and pay higher cost have a lesser aesthetic in their common space and that did irritate me. I'll be up. It irritated me more than my mom. We moved her to a different company/facility not because of care or quality of care but more due to location. I do like that the forum has memory care and skilled nursing. It was a nice place for my mom, but I would explore pricing of other places when you're looking at this place, this place is good but also is expensive comparatively.

We also switched to a facility in Upper Arlington for a 6 or 7 month period during that time. The people at The Forum cared for my Mom in so many ways. They went from being friends to being caretakers during her transition. I could not recommend The Forum highly enough for how they took care of Mom. We moved Mom to the facility in Upper Arlington after she broke her hip. Great physical therapy team and great facilities. But the one thing they lacked was humanity. They didn't care about Mom, just the checks my sisters and I were writing. Back to The Forum. Not the gold standard for facilities, but certainly good enough and they are upgrading constantly, but more than the Gold Standard for the assistance we received and the help from the entire staff. Mom passed a couple of weeks ago. The nurses and hospice people that took care of Mom were in tears. Genuinely. Love this place and you'll be blessed if a family member has to be there.

I arrived about 445?? pm, was almost an hour before I was even acknowledged in the room. Then it was mostly administrative, no nursing care etc. It was almost 11 pm before I got my evening meds. The room was old and Musty and triggered my asthma cough for 16 days. I asked about any kind of air purifier, they had nothing in their stock and would do nothing to accommodate my concerns. The floor was under construction adding to the chaos of getting patients to and from the dining hall. Food and Physical therapy department were the only positive sides of the facility. I could tell the aids for the permanent residents were very caring and respectful. I had days I never saw my CNA. From a business standpoint I see Wesley Glenn as a high end Independent living / assisted living facility. The skilled nursing floor was added as a way to keep their residents in house during rehab from age related issues, stroke, falls and breaks etc. I got the minimal care I was there for, my IV infusion 3x a day but that was about it. I felt as if I was a transient patient on Medicare. I sent in a letter with my concerns, never expecting any response and I was right. Not even an acknowledgement form letter.

I've seen the daily routine of care and you can see the aids are in experienced and seem careless at times leaving her for hours of unattended checks on her for bathroom visits. Because of the one great RN named Dawn, she should get five stars. So, that's a total of two stars for the rest of the place. For the price we pay, this place should have better aids and provide more attention vice leaving them to exist in their rooms to sit in filth.

If my aging parents lived in this state, there's nothing that would give me greater happiness and peace of mind than seeing them retire to FVD. Imagine a super cool college campus with great people, fun activities and awesome food - but NO job, responsibilities or stress whatsoever. That's what retirement living at FVD is like. You move in young, healthy and spry in your 60s and basically have the time of your life. As you get older, additional care and support is there when you need it. The new expansion they're doing, while obviously causing a bit of construction noise/mess now, is going to be AMAZING once it's complete. The Health Center (nursing home) side is wonderful too, once the time comes for that level of care. The people are great - both residents and staff. I love this place and I'm so glad I get to work with the team and residents as part of my day job!

I received a phone call within 2 SECONDS of entering my phone number. I sent the call to voicemail because I was at work. I immediately got another call within a minute. I sent it to voicemail as well. There was a voicemail message left with a phone number for me to call if I needed assistance. I received another call in two hours. I answered and told them to take my number out of their system. I hung up and received another call immediately - they hung up before I could pick up the call. I called back and told them I would talk to someone regarding harassment if I received another call. This is incredibly RUDE! I am sure they want to receive some kind of commission, but I would NOT give them the time of day because I do NOT like their tactics!

They only care about claiming you to get commissions. Keep reading to find out: Privacy Breach Basically they give you a google search Bad information Rude Team Costs Money on the backend Bad Reputation Time Waste I was given the name of a A Place for Mom representative and number by a social worker. I called to gather information about how she could help me and what services they provide. She asked if she could talk with her team and call me back in a half hour I said okay. Then the issues started. 1) PRIVACY BREACH - without permission they blasted my name and contact info out all the nearby assisted living places (whether they qualified for my situation or not). Those facilities all started contacting me and opted me in to newsletters. This was so A Place for Mom could "claim" me as a commission if we sent our loved one to any nearby facility. I was not asked permission to share my info or told they would do this, and i would have say NO if they had. 2) NO VETTING - one place on the list I already knew wouldn't work for my situation which was being able to take a medicaid waiver after 2 years of private pay. So they didn't even vet the places they sent. It was the same service as doing a google search on assisted living in my area. And they think they should get a commission for a google search? 3) BAD INFO - I had asked if my loved one could live in independent living during her 2-year private pay period and was told No that the two years must be spent on Assisted Living. That is not true, it actually depends on the facility, it IS possible and would let her stay on private pay longer (since Medicaid only lets you have $50/mo for ALL other expenses, you want to keep them on private pay as long as they can). If I hadn't pursued this on my own, we would have used up the money a lot faster. 4) RUDE TEAM - The "team member" who blasted my info to everyone without permission I emailed 3 times to remove all my data from their systems. She never responded but did continue to call me to find out if I selected one of the places. That was literally all the help I would have gotten if I used them, a google search of nearby places. I answered the call finally and asked why she hadn't responded. She said maybe they all went to spam. I said well I am asking you to remove all my data and she said we will mark you as do not call, i said no, I want the actual data removed. She would talk over me and say "i'll mark you as do not call, have a nice day" in a very passive aggressive way. She was NOT going to remove my data as requested so I finally said fine i'll call home office and hung up. There they gave me the email of a regional manager and that person did agree to remove my data. So it took me 4 emails to undo what they did without my permission, and honestly I dont' even really trust them that they removed it. 5) COSTS MONEY - One facility we already were in contact with told me they'd have to raise their monthly price if they had to give commissions to A Place for Mom each month, so now it would come out of our pocket on the backend. And really wouldn't you rather the facility that is caring for your loved one get all of the money paid so they can spend it on wages for quality caregivers? 6) BAD REPUTATION - I was told by more than one facility that they hate working with A Place for Mom because they provide no value to the client but take a lot of money for it. 7) TIME WASTE - this service is supposed to make your life easier. Instead I wasted a ton of time on it and got no benefit from it. RESULT: Save yourself time and hassle, just google the places nearby and start there. I found the directors at the places all VERY helpful. A lot can be found on facility websites too. And you can find reviews online of all facilities (the google list they sent me didn't even include reviews). I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of facilities out there. My stepmom even said she'd like to move into one now!

Also, in the past I have had other friends at other retirement centers around the Columbus area. Overall, the residents at Claremont have been much more pleased with the facility than those at others that are much more expensive. The entire facility is on one floor and there are no inconvenient and unreliable elevators necessary. Each apartment has interior hallway access for the entire facility and each one also has a same-level screened in outdoor patio. There is a sense of community and camaraderie there among the residents. Many of them casually meet in the dining room and play cards, or just sit and chat. The dining room food choices have good variety and good quality. Claremont is not a fancy hotel, but is clean and well maintained. It has a sense of casual comfort and friendly socialization. The staff is very caring and comforting. The dining room service is excellent with very friendly servers who are always available and ready for resident requests. There are always several activities available, usually in the dining room area. These include theme days and musical performances among other attractions. Special services are generally available for such things as physical therapy and hair care, just to name two. Many of the residents have their own automobiles with plenty of parking for residents and visitors. There is a small general store on site along with a postal facility there is good security and areas for assisted living and memory services. The sales staff is knowledgeable, and helpful. I believe the strongest attraction of Claremont is its social resort style atmosphere and the convenience of single level living with screened-in patios for every unit.
