How far downhill they have traveled! Growing up, we always used Westlake Cabs. Once upon a time, a very reputable and reliable company. Now they are rude and unable to provide the very thing you are looking for: transporation. About 10 months ago, called them for a ride to the airport, but because the driver needed to come during rush hour, they didn't want to take the call. We ended up leaving the car at the lot at the airport instead. Most Recent Example: Called them at 3:00pm on a weekday and asked for a 4:15pm pickup from a medical facility on Lorain Road. They stated that they couldn't come that quickly. (1 hour and 15 minutes) Then they wanted a call back number, and I said, I will be in my doctor's office for an appointment and I won't be able to take any calls." The dispatcher then stated they couldn't do the call. I told him he didn't deserve my business, and called an Uber, got a quick pick up and pleasant service. Why are you still in business? I called (440) 331-5000 a day in advance for a ride from my Westlake home to the airport, for a 5:45a.m. pickup The taxi pulled into our driveway exactly at 5:45. The van was clean and nice, and the driver was friendly, polite, and most professional. He suggested that if we needed a ride back from the airport, to call that same number as above, when we're at the departing airport, let them know an approximate time of arrival, and a pickup can be arranged. And so it was! Again, we were picked up, on time, from Cleveland Hopkins and returned to our home, in a clean and nice van. Outstanding service! Have been using Westlake Cab for years to get to the airport, and will continue to do so. Only now, I will always call in advance for a return pickup, too. If you are out by Lakewood and need a ride, Westlake Cab is the only option. It would be way cheaper than dealing with Yellow or Americab. I know they don't hire the dispatcher for excellent customer service or anything, but the dispatcher here was such a pain in the ass that I boycotted this place for the longest time. I rather take the goddamn 55 (Clifton bus route) or the 26 (Detroit bus route) back down to Cleveland. They need to hire Pinky, the dispatcher from Yellow! Even still, a great bet to call if you are drunk and either going from point A in Lakewood to point B in Lakewood or simply if Lakewood is your starting point. read more

This review is for the new Westlake express, under new ownership, and management. It's like the old Westlake cab, before Yellow cab bought it, and drove the business into the ground. They have many drivers, and have been quick the recent times I have used them, like the Westlake cab of old. They are located on the west side again, on Brookpark rd, and actually have west side drivers, unlike their time under Yellow cab, when calls were commonly sent to east side drivers, who don't know the area well, and sometimes showed up in a yellow cab, late of course. And of course I'm not charged Surge-Pricing, like Uber. Or denied service if the fare is not good enough for the drivers available. As if a bag of candy, and a cheap half broken Chinese tablet is supposed to make up for the Uber up charge... read more

Drivers are usually on time, but cars tend to be the worse for wear and not always clean. My car today was terrible -- smelled like an ashtray. Had to open the window all the way to the airport. This despite the fact that there was an enormous no smoking sign on the dash. Guess that doesn't apply to the driver. read more

Terrible service. I ordered a cab in the morning for an afternoon cardiac appointment. Never showed. When the dispatcher finally answered the phone after a half hour of ringing. She claimed the driver had been in the parking lot waiting, though i can see the parking lot & there was no cab. She wouldn't admit that the driver had the wrong address. She also started yelling at me that I ought to answer my phone(!!!), even when i told her I was hearing impaired & couldn't hear the phone. There was no message from anyone at the company on my answering machine, either. She didn't apologize or anything, just kept yelling that if I would've answered the phone, this all wouldn't have happened. Had to cancel the medical appointment because of their incompetence. Based on this experience, Westlake Cab is lousy at dealing with the public. read more

0 stars. I called for a pick up. I asked if they could give me a rough estimate for time of arrival, not an extact quote. They told me, "We are not allowed to provide you any type of time." I called over half an hour later to cancel my initial pick up call and had a very shocking greeting from Westlake cab receptionist, "What time was your reservation so I can go ahead and cancel it." Funny, since they "can't give me a time" but clearly they can if that's the response I get back. To start, the female dispatcher was friendly & courteous. The driver, Sam, called me & told me that he was 2mins away. I appreciated the advance call. As soon as I left the apartment, the cab arrived. The driver, Sam, was very friendly & polite. He took shortcuts which got me to the airport quickly. I would like to share a very concerning story about this company. Today my parents (who are older) were going to the airport and scheduled a 12:30 PM pick up. They were called at 4:30 in the morning stating that the cab was there to pick them up. They told them that they were not scheduled until 12:30. Whomever they talked to was very rude to them but apparently the cab left. They called later in the day to confirm and talked to another rude woman (they did not have the name) who confirmed cab was coming at 12:30. At the appointed time an unmarked van did come to the home and said they were there to take them to the airport. They loaded the van up which my mother states was in disrepair. She became suspicious and then as they were starting to pull out the Westlake cab showed up. She requested to get out of the cab and the man said that it wasn't a big deal and they would take them to the airport and initially refused. Then the men (there were two) offered to get out and talk to the other cab. She said no and the other cab stopped as well. My father went out to talk to them and the official cab said that those were the wrong people and they were able to transport them correctly. My mother called Westlake cab and found out from someone named Denise that someone named AMBER gave my parents information to someone else. She has reportedly been fired. THIS IS FRIGHTENING. We don't know who those people were or where they may have taken my parents or what they may have done. This is absolutely unacceptable and there should be better care taken with whom they hire. I would recommend not going with this company and if you do - PLEASE be careful and check for identification. If someone named AMBER is your dispatcher - do not accept this and request someone else (or really just go to another company). read more

Westlake Cab Service is reliable, prompt and very reasonably priced. They are way cheaper for rides home from Cleveland Airport than the cabs that are queued at the airport. I'm talking 50% or more in savings. All you need to do is call them when you've got your luggage & wait 15 minutes, or less, on the lower level, currently outside exit 5, and a friendly driver will appear and get you home quickly and in my case, at half the price of an Airport queued cab. read more

I have no complaints...even the lady taking my reservation the evening before was friendly and polite. Worse taxi company in the city. I missed my flight today waiting on a cab. After 20 minutes of waiting I called to see where the cab was. Whoever answered the phone said that he would call dispatch to see how long it would be for the cab. Who was he if not dispatch answering the phone? He never called back so I drove myself to the airport and just missed my flight. Of course the driver calls 45 minuets later to inform me that he is outside. I tell him that service is horrible and unacceptable to wait 45 minutes for a cab and that I left and I hang up on him. Never again will I use this horrific company. read more

Been using them for a couple months now and never had too much of a problem. I usually call 1-2 hours before I need them. Today I called three hours before and they are late. I called to check when they would arrive and all the operator said was " we are still trying to find you a cab, we are behind". So when I asked "you're three hours behind??" He just says, "that's all I can tell you". When I asked for a manager he said there wasn't one of duty and I could have their voice mail.
