About a year later, we had a branch fall on our roof, causing a leak. He answered my call that night, recalled the colour of roofing we had, and was onsite the next morning to repair the damage. We have also had him come and clean the gutters and roof, and inspect for damage seasonally. He cleans up the yard and driveway well afterward, sometimes better than it was! His prices are certainly fair for the service he provides. We would recommend Darren to anyone with roofing needs.

The driver litters a full container of food out the window to the middle of the road during a red light. It was already in a container; I don't know why he couldn't wait for a garbage can. We were looking to get some work done on our failing exterior stairs, and possibly entertain some…read moreadditional work on our exterior deck space. During the consultation process, Darryl was very attentive to the phone calls/emails I had regarding scope of work. During his consultation visit(s), he was very attentive to our questions and thought process. He was also able to lend his expertise on what might work best, but always ensuring it was aligned with our overall vision. Based on this engaging process and the quote provided, we decided to go with Deck Experts. Darryl and his team of Spencer, Grayson, and Malcolm were an absolute delight to deal with. Given the busy times of summer and Covid, we were still able to work out a date which was fair to all concerned. While on site, Spencer and his crew were always polite to answer any questions we had, and also offer some insight into the construction thought process as they progressed on the project. Anytime we asked what is this for, what does this do, they were happy to discuss. They were able to replace our old wooden exterior stairs, wooden guard rails and vinyl deck covering, and transform it into an expanded deck, complete with new vinyl, new aluminum railings, new stairs, and a work shed underneath our new expanded deck. They were able to do this all within the time line that we ultimately agreed to of a two week project duration. I don't know how they did it, but I'm so glad that they were able to keep their schedule. They showed up on time everyday that they were on site, were also respectful of cleaning up every day, and ensuring we still had access wherever possible. All the people who saw pictures of our completed project were amazed at the final project, and those who stopped by to have a look were equally impressed as well. A family member of ours works in the construction business, and he was impressed with the level of craftsmanship that we received, as well as the final product. Getting his thumbs up approval was reassuring, as he has a discerning eye coming from the industry. I would have no issues having Deck Experts come again and do some more work on my house if the situation arises. We definitely feel we got good value for the money invested in our deck improvement project. Darryl was a delight to deal with from beginning to end, and his crew led by Spencer did a terrific job executing our deck project. Thanks so much guys, appreciate all the hard work during that hot spell end of July/beginning of August! Sincerely, Michael O.

TEN [10] months ago we contracted with this firm to build us a Trex deck…read more "AJ" built us a rock-solid deck that we are nearly completely pleased with the exceptions of several 'accessory' items. 1. The ground cover that they recycled does not go end-to-end. [see hose door] 2. There is absolutely no ground cover installed under the expansive step that was requested and built. 3. The hose door - built in order that there would be no unsightly garden hose laying on or around the deck. The closing mechanism is amateur PLUS, when inside, the hose lays on dirt...the ground cover does not extend to the outside edge of the deck. The most frustrating part of the above problems was/is that the owner made no attempt to re-visit the site in order to offer some correction to them but, rather, chose to debate and argue about whether or not we were correct in our observations. We have waited for contact from the company for TEN months [there is a 2-year labour warranty that is totally useless unless the persons involved in the construction make the effort to come to the site, view the problems, and make some effort to correct same]. After reviewing other customers observations it will come as no surprise to read a series of excuses from the principal of the company but, rest assured, what has been written above is factual and true. If any potential customer of this company is so interested...upon contact...I will invite them to our home to see the finished product. Repeating the initial statement ... a very solid deck was built...the custom features coupled with an attempt by the company to minimize cost [ground cover], and argue rather than repair forces us them give them a middle-range rating. Be certain that everything is in writing with sketches and photos.

We paid 80% ($2704.80) of the invoice after the first stage of the work was complete. Since then he has returned on two occasions to continue the work, however it remains incomplete and our kitchen pot light switches are wired incorrectly. When you flip the switch, some lights turn off and other lights turn on. Other lights flicker badly. He has crossed the circuits somewhere so that three different switches are controlling lights that should be controlled by only one switch, which leads them to turn lights on and off simultaneously. I'm concerned this is a fire hazard. Some of the pot lights are also not secure to the ceiling and are sagging down. He also was supposed to finish our above the stove vent so it vents to the outside. He has left it venting into our attic. I'm very concerned this is a fire hazard in our home and do not feel safe using our stove or kitchen lights with three kids at home. He said he would be here January 3rd to fix the mess of a job he did but never showed up and is now ignoring phone calls from both myself and our contractor. He will not return messages or texts, even though I can see he has read them. He has taken our money and abandoned the job. Also totally botched the work that he did complete.
