I am super happy with my fence from these guys! Flexible, great communicators, and quick work that's reasonably priced. They did a fence for me this fall, and then I called them up for another fence between my neighbor and I when the old one fell suddenly during a windstorm. I'll definitely call them back to do the front side of my yard when it's time. Very happy. UPDATE: I called these guys again to do the front of my yard and I couldn't be happier! My gate is absolutely beautiful and it's exactly what I pictured based on the photo I gave Felix. The fence was put up so quickly I couldn't even believe it. I found Western Fence & Rail via the NextDoor app. Felix responded to my request for a quote right away, and he was also able to come out the next day to talk through the job. I had to put scheduling the fence install on hold for a few months until after the holidays when I could get the hedge taken down. Hedge cane down this week and Western was able to put the fence up two days later. They were on time, communicative and did a great job. Chris came and installed the fences and the gates, but left a huge amount of trash, including nails, boards and other remnants all over the place, including in the neighbors yards. All the gates failed because they were poorly constructed, and Chris failed to come back and fix anything even though he promised he would be there on April 30. He never showed up, and has failed to communicate at all since then. Would not recommend! read more

Unprofessional, horrible communication, left job unfinished and acted as if he's doing me a favor. I never asked for a "deal" and wanted a beautiful gate for my driveway. I texted photos of what I had in mind, and was willing to pay good money. Instead, I get an unfinished basic gate that is unsanded (splintery to touch) when I have a one year old child trying to touch it getting cut on his hands, no bottom trim on one side so it's lop-sided, and no castor to bear weight as promised. I had multiple other projects in the works including a fence that I asked for a quote on and never got- and was ready to spend good money. But Chris acted like I was a meaningless customer and treated me like my money didn't matter because he had bigger jobs at hand. Treat people better Chris, and at the very least keep to the schedule that you tell your customers. read more

The relationship started out well, but fell apart in the end. Great discussion pre-job, pictures/diagrams sent to Chris. He was agreeable, bid was very good. He never showed up!! Missed two site visits, no contact for weeks. At least I didn't lose any money, but I also don't have a fence. Chris sounds good upfront, but has poor followup. Can't comment on workmanship---he never did any! I had hoped to be able to write a good review, but not happening. read more

A fantastic experience, from beginning to end. My initial call asking about an estimate for replacing a "good neighbor fence" was returned within the hour. The estimate appointment was a few day later at 1pm. Chris was right on time. (A rarity these days.) He was very clear/detailed in explaining the work he would do, changes from the existing fence & how long it would take. He also took a look at a gate that I was looking to replace. Within ten minutes, he had a estimate for both the fence and gate. The prices were extremely fair! Chris was also very flexible about working the work into a schedule that worked for me. He arrived right on time the morning of the project. I was leaving town the day of the project. Chris kept me updated on the work, which included asking if I'd like my four foot gate and higher. The work was done in one, Clean up was spotless with no wood fragments left behind for my dog to get. I should mention that my neighbors that are on the other side of the fence were also extremely happy with the work....but I'll let them write their own review. Our experience of Alanmarc/Western Fence and Rail was really a tale of two decks. For the most part, we are really happy with the back deck, which was rebuilt with composite flooring and a new roof. However, the front porch is in disarray and is still incomplete. We attempted to reach out both via the phone and emails in an effort to get Chris (the owner) to address the poor construction of the front porch. Despite multiple attempts to reach Chris, he has not returned calls or messages. The front porch was hastily put together and is in need of a complete overhaul, despite the fact that we literally paid for a new porch. The porch does not extend as far as it should, the railing and banisters are not secure, and generally the aesthetic is poor. The most disappointing portion of the front porch is that the boards do not extend to the front columns of our home and therefore, our 3rd party siding company was unable to finish their job due to this poor porch construction. At this juncture, we feel taken advantage of and are stuck with a poorly constructed porch that will have to be entirely rebuilt when the weather allows. Based on our experience, we would highly discourage anyone from working with Alanmarc/Western Fence and Rail. While they can obviously produce good work, as evidenced by our back deck, they have extremely poor customer service and other parts of their work product were disappointingly sloppy. Chris came out to give me a bid and seemed like a nice, reliable business owner. He was going to install fencing and an electric gate. The date of the install, he never showed up. I left him 2 messages that he never responded to. I week later I never have heard back from him. I have read other yelp comments about this type of lack of consideration. As a small business owner for 30 yrs., I find this unacceptable, rude and very poor business practice. Homeowner beware! read more

Chris was awesome to work with! He scheduled us quickly, had our 50ft cedar fence built in one day and hauled away our old chain link. The wood is good quality, the craftsmanship is excellent! We could not be more pleased with his work and price. read more

We have rental storage area waiting for Chris (owner), to get back to us. We paid the necessary deposit and he was in constant contact with us. We have been waiting now with "NO CALL BACKS", wondering when the fence and gate will be completed. We cannot rent this area until completion of his job. read more
