Seriously baffled by the so called scheduling at the Y. Not sure why I pay a high membership fee to go here as often as I'm frustrated. Yes, it's the fourth of July and I'm grateful that their pools are open at all. But this facility has two outdoor pools. They opened one pool in the morning for laps, then, at 11, they're closing that pool and opening the pool in the back. Since I've arrived at 10:30, I'd have to start swimming at one pool, then drive to the back pool to finish my laps. This isn't the first time I've encountered absurd scheduling at this Y (and frankly all Wilmington Y's). Not saying don't join, just saying be prepared to leave without exercise. read more

I have been a member of the y for several years. I typically visit the Bear and Western locales. My only complaint is it's impossible to reach anyone via phone at the Western location. The hold time is over 20 minutes on a good day. read more

I have belonged to many gyms over the years including the HAC and Orange. The YMCA in Newark is awesome. Their front desk customer service is very friendly and helpful. Every Les Mills Body combat teacher is outstanding. They give step by step instructions and clearly love what they do. This YMCA is a 5 star PLUS in my view. read more

As a YMCA member in Pennsylvania, I wanted to take some additional classes here taught by an old instructor I adore. The front desk staff was very friendly and made my registration easy and pleasant. I love working out in the large studio near the front door. It's a big space with a full wall of windows which starts my day with a view of the outdoors. read more

Been a member here for years and all of a sudden the (bad) customer service has lost me my gym reimbursement from work - the only reason I joined our family membership. Emailed 2 weeks before the documents were due and I was notified a week later that I was removed from my family membership WITHOUT NOTIFICATION or any request of removal. Asked when I was removed and no response after 2 weeks. @staff Probably should Have a talk with Kelly Moore and Angie Riley before losing more customers. read more

I really like it here. I come for the gym and indoor pool. I wish the indoor pool was available to use more often, especially during the school year, because I can't use the outdoor pools (too cold for my joints). But the staff are nice, the facility is clean, and I have good experiences there. read more

To Aly - tell the person who had you get out of the pool that she is not your mother and cannot tell you what to do. I've had some encounters like that where I am not permitted to use their restrooms yet I will go behind their backs and do it anyway. read more

Nice facility but over double the price of what I pay for one of the best facilities in the country in Sarasota Florida. Just curious as to why they had to raise the rate from $70 a month to $75 as if $70 just was not quite enough money?? read more

I joined and quickly unjoined! I go to the gym for Zumba, there Zumba classes aren't good. I'm zin which means I'm an instructor. Walking across the room isn't a Zumba move. If you're joining for Zumba look elsewhere: they also don't have many classes for it. The facility is gorgeous though and the outdoor pool is awesome. Everyone is very nice as well. I'll be back for the summer for the pool. read more

Love this Y. The classes are plentiful and the facility is clean. They are always upgrading something. Even if small, it all counts. Great instructors. Swim classes are excellent for the kids (adults too). Les Mills classes really get you in shape! Worth every penny and more. No price on health and fitness. read more

well let's see I don't even no where to begin. Hm well first off I had taken my two kids to the complex pool and so I went into one of the lap lanes and my kids were swimming in the large area along with all of the other kids. Anyways so I was just swimming back and forth like everyone else and I had taken a break because I was a little tired so all the sudden a whistle had come to my attention and it was this lifeguard and so I looked up at her and her exact words were "get out" and so I said can you please learn some manners,and she replied "no" and then proceeded to flipping me off. So I went out of the lap lane and then she blows the whistle again and tells me to get out of the pool and that I'm not aloud back in when I had driven an hour and a half to get there just because my kids begged me to bring them. and I replied "ok" and so then I got out of the pool and took my seat, oh and by the way my kids witnessed this entire show. So let's get down to my point, basically your lifeguard was possibly the most ignorant self centered person I have ever come across and I will never ever bring my kids or myself back into your filthy community. I have already canceled my membership and off to the hac we go where there are caring and pleasant lifeguards. So I suggest that you do something about that girl before you lose anymore business oh and also here is a description of her .... This is honestly an amazing place and an amazing gym. Definitely a polite, family atmosphere. There's plenty of machines to pick from so you don't have to worry about waiting. Front desk people were always friendly. The only reason I wouldn't give the Y five stars is because of cost. I understand it's the Y and it's the best Y in the area. However, I felt my "college discount" of $40 a month was way too much. The discount came with access to the entire gym, pool and classes but I only wanted a membership for the gym. The rest was unnecessary for me to use, but there's no option to elect to have a membership for just the gym like other gyms have. read more
