I joined Train Hard Win Big this past winter and have noticed an immense difference in my strength which has directly translated to my success on the softball field. I took a year off from working out and thought I would give trying a trainer a shot. Boy was I glad I did! I met with Kurt who was very professional he took his time with me, he took time to get to know me and personalize a routine for me. Kurt showed me equipment in the gym I never knew existed, so many new ideas and routines it was great. Kurt made going back to the gym exciting for me again. I left the gym every time excited to go back even though I was sore it's a good kinda sore. Kurt motivates you and cheers you along on some really tough moves but keeps ya going. Many of my friends are members here and face similar problems, but the Siegel JCC is still the most convenient option for them and don't have the same freedom that I have to switch gyms. The courts are often not open when the schedule says they are. Many times I have gotten kicked out of the gym several minutes before the next group is supposed to be scheduled. I have gotten hit by pickleball members with their paddles when walking across the court to the free side. The weightlifting area is often crowded, and I have been confronted multiple times while waiting in between sets that I have been "taking too long." I am very disappointed in the service I have gotten over my past few months' membership here.

We've taken several classes including the pickle ball clinic and all have been done well. The indoor pool always has lap lanes open. I'm loving that they have a steam, indoor hot tub, and sauna all in one area so you can move from one to another seamlessly. We have lately really been loving the outdoor pool. Such an upgrade and really has a neighborhood pool experience but is included in the gym price. Overall, we love it and will be members for many years to come!

They have a ton of rules posted about guest passes then they let anyone in for free. Not sure why I pay I could just walk in. It's getting dirtier every day. One girl cleans and does a good job but does so at like 10am. Why can't they do this when the gym is shut down? Or maybe more than once a day?. Wish the gym would suspend or revoke their memberships to those who can't figure out where the dumbbell they were using goes or those who just completely say F it and don't re-rack their weights. They have no bands. Their clips for the cable attachments seem to either break or get stolen just about every day. They have 3 basketballs. The pool has been closed for a while and I've never seen one person working on fixing it. Working here must suck. Over the past two years I haven't seen one person work here longer than 6 months besides maybe a salesman or two. I have no idea who's in charge of this place. The trainers don't last here for more than a month either. If I didn't live walking distance away I'd go to a different gym.

Over a year ago, I signed up for an LA Fitness membership and personal training under the impression that I could cancel anytime. What they conveniently failed to mention was that the personal training contract was locked in for a full year at $200 a month--no way out. Fine. I waited out the year, canceled the trainer, and thought I was done. But guess what? They kept charging me $200 a month anyway! And when I tried to resolve it? No customer service to call, no easy way to cancel--they force you to physically go into a location just to stop payments. So, I went in person to cancel. The employee gave me a phone number for a manager who could supposedly handle it. Turns out, the number was disconnected. So I went back--again--only to be told the manager wasn't there and I'd have to go to a different location. I drove 20 minutes to another location, asked for the manager, and was then told only the personal training manager could cancel it. That manager no longer even works there. The employee had no idea what to do, and I was left completely stuck--still being charged $200 a month for a service I don't use and can't seem to cancel. At this point, LA Fitness is literally just stealing my money, and I have no idea what to do next. I think I'm going to contact a lawyer. DO NOT sign up for anything at this gym unless you want to be scammed.

The membership included 3 personal training sessions, an hour-long nutrition consultation, and a month of unlimited classes. My 3 individual sessions were all with Darrel (sp?) who was super warm and attentive. Since this gym was close to my work, I'd go immediately after I got off every day and the 5:30 class on most nights is taught by Stephanie. She's a great coach who definitely cares about each person in the class, and makes the effort to learn names and give personal and helpful feedback. The owner Antonio is also super friendly and personable, and tries to cultivate a family atmosphere at this gym (which you can definitely feel when you walk in based on everyone's energy). I come from a Crossfit background so I'm used to the high intensity stuff. It's a little different here because a lot of the work outs are self-paced, rather than time-capped. There's also not nearly as much barbell use as I was expecting (I think mostly due to the space constraint), but you can expect a lot of bodyweight exercises. The gym is a bit small and when the weather is nice the machines get moved outside into the parking lot because there's not always enough room to accommodate everyone and the workout, but it doesn't seem like anyone minds. I look forward to seeing how this gym grows and eventually gets a bigger space to accommodate more people.

More…read moreoften than not, I paid for the Y without actually going, and when I did actually make it there, it was only to use the treadmill--literally only the treadmill--because I was scared and intimidated and it was the only piece of equipment I knew how to use. I immediately felt at home at BlkOps. The owners, Antonio and Kelly, and their team of coaches all supported me and helped me to grow. In my 2+ years there, I have learned SO much about lifting weights, conditioning, eating nutritionally, and feeling confident in myself. Now, when I am away from home, I feel confident in writing myself a challenging and effective workout and in marching directly into a hotel gym to execute it. And I don't even touch the treadmill. On top of all that I have learned at BlkOps, I have gained some incredible friendships. Each member of the gym inspires me daily and helps make the gym feel like a home away from home. Because of these people and because of the challenging workouts that we persevere through together, going to the gym is now my favorite part of the day. I looked around and contacted several different trainers, Jeff responded before anyone else. Although I looked at a few others, I picked Jeff because I just liked him. It was an excellent choice. He is dedicated, he knows so much about wellness and more importantly he is always learning. I can ask anything about nutrition, lifestyle or training and if he needs more information, he finds out and then shares with me. The thing that matters most is that here I am, four months past my big day and I still train with Jeff. I am also so happy to say that my husband was so impressed with what he saw and with what I told him, that he now trains with Jeff too. I have been so impressed with the way in which Jeff has modified everything to meet my husband where he is. A very different place than where I ever was, and the results are already visible.
