This is the best care we have ever had! Being on Medicare (mandatory) is tough because the…read morereimbursements to doctors is terrible and they can't even pay their overhead from the payments. The addition of "concierge" service for all patients is wonderful! Dr. Esau is experienced and Dr. Webster for my wife also is one of the best doctors she has had. The concierge payment assures us of quality care and attention and also gives them the reimbursement that assures they have services we need including for lab work and x-ray. We would recommend that anyone concerned about their healthcare should consider this option to a broken health care system.

Unfortunately, I must rate Hayden Lake Family Physicians a 2 out of 5 since the implementation of…read moretheir "Concierge" service. My family has been patients of the practice for over 20 years, but we have now reached the point where we are seeking care elsewhere. Under the current "Concierge" model, existing patients who wish to see a physician must enroll in the Concierge program at a cost of $1,800 per person, per year. Patients who do not participate in this program are limited to scheduling appointments with a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. While I respect the important role of these providers, I value the ability to see my existing physician when needed--particularly in situations where experience, continuity of care, or personal preference are important. Unfortunately, that option is no longer available without a substantial annual fee. This fee does not even cover the care, it's just for the ability to see a Doctor. Additionally, since some of physicians have departed or are preparing to, I have noticed a decline in the overall level of care. Billing concerns, including charges for services that were neither requested nor disclosed, ultimately led us to make the decision to leave the practice. When we have called to discuss our billing concerns or not disclosing services, we were met with rudeness and essentially told there is nothing they can do. It is disappointing to leave them after more than 20 years, but it appears to me that money has taken priority. We used to absolutely love HLFP and our original Doctor, but since we can no longer see him and their "Concierge" service, it's it not even close to what it used to be.

Dr Borscheim is an excellent doctor, He takes the time he needs with each patient, and offers…read morethorough explanations of what is wrong and the possible treatments. He is relatively easy to get in to see on short notice. He has a blood lab on site which is convenient. His billing staff, on the other hand, is a total and complete nightmare. Here are just a few recent examples: 1. I had a check bounce with them - oops! - before I left for a one week vacation abroad. During that time, the billing office left two voice mails about the check, and then sent a letter that "fired" me as a patient since I didn't return their calls. Once back in USA I got the messages and immediately called them, only to be told basically "too bad, rules are rules. You do have 30 days to find another doctor". Geez, thanks!!! Luckily, a letter to Dr Borcheim cleared up this little "misunderstanding". 2. As a result of #1, I now have to wait for the scheduler to check with finance before they will schedule an appointment for me or my family. This is rather humiliating. 3. I got a bill for several hundred dollars that I questioned. The lovely billing department said I needed to clear it up, that insurance sent me a letter that I was negligent in answering and I was responsible for the bill and needed to pay it NOW. I begged and pleaded for an extension, and was magnanimously granted some time to research the issue. When I called the insurance company, they said a letter had been sent to Dr Borscheim's office weeks earlier and insurance was waiting for a response. The claim was submitted incorrectly on their end and needed to be corrected. Ms. Perfect seemed incredulous that a mistake could have possible be made on their end. 4. I received a revised bill to #3, and paid it within a week - by check. When I took my son to a Dr's appt, they demanded payment for the outstanding invoice. I told them I had already mailed a check. They incredulously asked "How did you pay it?" I replied "by check", to which they replied "We won't take your check". I explained that the check was already in the mail, and what would they do with it? They replied "we will return the check to you! you must pay with cash or credit card". My son was present for the discussion #4, and when he left the office he said "Wow, what a B-----!", and suggested that I write a review on Yelp. So here it is. While I REALLY like Dr Borscheim a a person and a physician, his billing staff prohibits me from giving the office more than 1 star.

My first doctor at Prairie Family Medicine was also very good although Dr. Taft is even better. My issue is with the Clara app they use and the staff. The staff wants you to use the Clara app in order to contact them but they take days to respond and if you have a question about their response then you have to wait days to get an answer. Meanwhile you can be in extreme pain or in need of care but are waiting for the staff to get back to you via the Clara app. If you call and actually speak with someone they can't even answer the most basic questions that they should know, and I mean really BASIC. If you question them they quickly get very rude. The staff absolutely doesn't care about the clients. They are rude and hostile. I was told that they have worked out the kinks with the app and the staff but the service is no different now than it was previously which is horrible. The only thing the staff is good at is making sure they get your dollars. $$$ is all they care about. They don't care about you as a patient.
