I heard so much about this gym and being told this is fourth smallest centre that's part of the…read moreEveryone Actives gym in South London area, I just has to check it out! The car park has plenty of car park spaces and even if that does become full you have plenty of off street parking, and even if you don't travel by car there is a bus stop directly outside the centre. I've only visited this gym in the mornings but considering I'm there early in the morning the staff are friendly, welcoming and even can crack a joke! The gym prides itself on the security and cleanliness as there are security cameras everywhere and a cleaner who is always whizzing around with her trolley cleaning. I swear in one corridor I must of seen 6 cameras on the ceiling! The changing room is clean, has several long mirrors and small and large lockers with access to the showers which has three assisted showers as well as 8 cubical showers, and this is just the women's changing room. I can imagine the men's changing room is like for like. There is a large hall with is divided when classes are booked, mainly used for badminton , tennis, even trampolining. There's a exercise room where they normally hold aerobic, body pump, yoga, Pilates, Zumba classes. There are a lot more classes but you will need to check out the timetable on the website. Then there is the gym. It is smaller than you expect when you see the size of the building but you have a view of the car park and their exercise machinery is slowly modernising to the standard of their other centres. I've never had an issue fighting to get into machinery as the gym is never busy and the regulars that go there is a wide range of ages and all at different levels of fitness! So don't worry it's not your typically tanned and toned gym goers and it's also not a fashion parade, you can feel comfortable here working off a sweat and stretching in your Lycra!

I've only used the gym and the pool so my review is specific only to those facilities…read more The pool is a little chilly, as others have said, however it isn't a spa pool, it's a swimming pool, so it's going to be chilly and the point is that you swim to warm up. The pool area and changing rooms are broadly clean, with enough locker space. The gym is pretty well equipped, but at its busy times you will struggle to find usable machines and equipment. The users aren't very good at replacing equipment so you can spend a while looking around for certain weights. And the rules regarding not taking in coats and bags aren't enforced, so finding mat space, for example, can become difficult and you end up having to shove some strangers bag to the side because you can't find the owner. Without wanting to sound like I'm young-person-bashing, the after school groups seem to use the gym more as a hang-out, and people of all ages don't seem to have developed the gym etiquette you find in other places regarding being sat on equipment looking at your phone for prolonged periods, denying the equipment to others. The student groups also tend to leave a lot of their belongings scattered in the changing rooms instead of using the lockers which are plentiful. The staff are very friendly, but it would be preferable if they enforced some of the rules & policies. And as a minor criticism I'd prefer lockers you can padlock instead of needing a £1 coin. Overall, it's fine if you're not a core-hours user - it would definitely be better if the policies were enforced, but if you're someone trying to do some exercise after work, particularly in term-time, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I have been a member of the centre for more years than I care to mention. The facilities are great…read moreand they have a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities. My biggest complaint would be the swimming pool changing rooms which are way too hot. Also there is occassionally a problem with the heating of the learner pool, but when you complain you get told that it is within regulations. When childrens lips are going blue in the lessons, I would say it is too cold despite what the regulations say.

If they bother to get back to you about any concern you might have about the facilities they will be completely inflexible and unhelpful. They know if you leave they have plenty of other users with little to no other choices. The recent refurbishment has been badly managed with a much smaller choice of equipment spread over 4 floors in 6 different spaces! Even at off-peak times there are queues for equipment because much of it does not even work. Complaints fall on deaf ears and management will not even entertain reducing fees due to the reduction in services. Their only suggestion they can offer is to cancel! They really do not care about the community or their members despite the headlines on their website.

You don't worry about verrucas and kids weeing in the pool here, unlike at North London's other, older and therefore grimier public pools. I like to come early on a Saturday morning (provided I haven't been out too heavily the night before) as it's usually pretty quiet and you can get a good pace in the fast lane without hitting too many people's heels. The changing rooms are also big and clean although my favourite thing about the pool is that it's near enough to my house that I can stroll home for a post-swim shower.
