As far as shared rides go- Westchester Express is sub-par (and sadly, the only gig in the county). Every time I have ridden with them, they rarely, if ever pick you up on time. And they always drop of LGA passengers before JFK ones, regardless of one's flight time. And forget about going back with them cos you'll be driving around for HOURS and HOURS between JFK and LGA before they *actually* drop you off at your destination. I'd only use them if I have nothing else better to do for the rest of the day, have a sweater to knit or like the scenic drive between airports. However, I find that I'd get home sooner using a shuttle service to GCT, then taking the Metro-North home. If you can spare the $, I suggest using a cab service such as Break to the Border (esp. for your departures). BUT- if you have no choice, then please pay cash. If You Want To Miss Your Flight -- And Pay $53 For It -- Book This Company! Westchester Express is a shared airport shuttle service. On July 16, 2012, I called them to book a ride from White Plains to the JFK airport the next day. My flight departed from JFK airport in Brooklyn at 6:50pm the next day (July 17). So the dispatcher asked me to be ready for a pickup at 3:50pm. The next day, July 17, I called at 3:14pm to confirm everything. He told me I wouldn't be picked up until 4:30pm. However, despite the later pickup, he assured me that I'd be the last pickup before the JFK airport. Other passengers sharing the ride would already be in the van. The driver arrived at 4:40pm. Not only was he late. The dispatcher instructed him to pick up yet ANOTHER passenger on the way. That took us on a detour in rush hour traffic. Even worse, this extra passenger had to be dropped off at La Guardia airport, taking us on YET ANOTHER detour. At 5:56pm, I called the dispatcher to tell him we were still in Queens. And my flight was departing in 54 minutes. We didn't arrive at JFK until 5:17pm, which was 33 minutes before the departure time. When the driver unloaded my suitcase, rather than offering to reduce or waive the $53 fee, he demanded full payment. I told him I'd pay him IF I could board the flight. Taking no responsibility for his company's poor planning, he said "You have to pay regardless!" I asked him to come inside and make sure I could board my flight, and then I would pay him. He grabbed the handle of my suitcase and would not let go. After another minute of arguing, he let go and followed me inside. Luckily, the flight was delayed and I was still able to board. But this was a complete fluke! Had the flight departed on time - Virgin's LAST flight of the day - I would've been stranded overnight, and would've had to pay a change fee plus a very unfavorable price to fly the next day. When the driver and I learned I could still board the flight, he demanded full payment. I paid him and decided to seek justice by writing this article. This is the second time Westchester Express has disappointed me. A week earlier, I booked a shuttle to pick me up at JFK airport. I phoned the dispatcher when I landed, and then again when I got to baggage claim. 4 minutes later he called to tell me the shuttle was waiting outside. So far so good. But I found no shuttle. So I called him. He said "You're at terminal 4, right? You told me Jet Blue?" I said no, I had taken Delta and was waiting at terminal 3. But that driver never came to pick me up. Instead he left without me and the dispatcher sent a new driver to pick me up. As a result, I waited another 32 minutes to get picked up. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. You might save a few dollars but you are risking your life. Simply not worth it. And the company does not care. My wife is a flight attendant and makes many airport trips. The last driver was quite literally crazy. Screaming, swerving, fighting with other drivers. At one point the other passenger in the car, a man, and the driver got into a screaming fight. I called the company while all this was going on and spoke with the owner or manager Howard. He really and truly could not have cared less. To top it all off, the driver refused to give my wife her bags. The other passenger had to get out of the car and get them for her. THE WORSE CAR SERVICE EVER: June 15, 2014: I called Westchester Express (a shared shuttle) from Orlando airport at 5:30pm to arrange a pickup, for when I would arrive at LaGuardia Airport. When I arrived at 8:36pm, I called to confirm the pickup. The dispatcher said it would be 25 minutes, 30 minutes at the VERY MOST!! After 30 minutes no shuttle in sight, I called to check in. The same dispatcher said it would probably be another 10 minutes. After 10 more minutes, I called again. The dispatcher apologized and exclaimed: "The shuttle FORGOT to stop at LaGuardia airport! He will have to turn around and come back for you. It shouldn't take too much longer, I'm sorry." I admit, I went a little cray-cray at this point, and hung up on the dispatcher.. After a full hour and more of waiting, the shuttle finally arrived. When I got in, the driver handed me his GPS and asked me to program it. I told him I didn't know how to work his GPS, but since none of the other 2 passengers knew how to program it, I realized I had to do it. I asked them both their destinations and logged them in. ( I cannot believe I'm paying $46.00 and I have to type in the destinations of all the passengers in the Shuttle!!!) Next, NO EZ PASS on the vehicle, so more waiting in line to get thru the toll!! There were then discussions among the passengers as to whose house was the closest, since the driver admitted he has no idea how to get around. Really? The PASSENGERS have to decide who's getting dropped off first??? When I finally got home (we all agreed I was the first stop, thankfully) a young woman looked at me and meekly said..."how will I get to white plains?" I told her I programmed it into the GPS for her, and she SHOULD be okay. I have no idea how it ended for her, but I Will NEVER NEVER NEVER call Westchester Express again. TERRIBLE and RUDE service. Quite simply, if you actually need to get to an airport in NY (either jfk or la guardia) never, ever use Westchester Express. I don't understand how a business that is run this poorly can stay in business. We called for a reservation to take a family member to JFK a couple days before hand, and everything seemed ok. On the day of, we called to confirm, and they had no record of our reservation. At the time the pick up was scheduled, they were a no-show, so we called again. They told us on the phone that they could make the pick up 30 minutes late, which we let them know was unsatisfactory, so they said someone was on the way. They finally showed up more than an hour late, luckily we put the person that needed to go to the airport in a taxi about 45 minutes before Westchester Express arrived. read more

Without an actual catastrophe, we experienced a worse case scenario with this service. When we called they said it would be 25 minutes (their website says this is the longest wait time) and that the driver would come into the terminal to find us. It was over 30 minutes and then we were called and asked to come out and walk a fair distance from where they had told us to wait. Then we left JFK. Only to return 10 minutes later to pick some one up at another terminal. No big deal and perfectly normal since that is how you have to get from one terminal to the next. The drive did go inside to get these passengers. After being gone 10 minutes or so he returns alone. The other passengers had ordered a private car and could not be convinced to come with us. So we left JFK. We ask if we will be heading to our destination at this point and the driver says no, we will be going to La Guardia to pick someone up. After over 30 minutes driving through residential neighborhoods at over 30 mph, stopping every other block, we arrive at La Guardia. We pick up two people at 2 terminals, both who will be getting dropped off before us. We arrived at our hotel in Mt Kisco in 3 hours. At no point did the driver mention that he was sorry it took so long so I assume this is pretty normal. I expect a shuttle to take a lot longer than a car service. But we had a reservation and were told that our arrival would be tracked. Our flight was exactly on time but as far as I can tell no effort to coordinate with us was made.The trip to another terminal at JFK could have been avoided entirely since those passengers had ordered a private car. The nauseating ride to La Guardia would have sat better had with us had it not already taken an hour with waiting and backtracking. I assume now that the driver was at LGA when we called since it took him about the same time to arrive at JFK as it took him to get us over to LGA. The upshot is that the service was disorganized and there is no way to guarantee that this shuttle wont go to both airports on one run so it could take an excessively long time. I was planning on 2 hours, maybe a little more. The truth is that you should never take a shuttle unless you are alone because it is not cost efficient and I should have known better than that. I wanted to share the gas used with other passengers to be more environmentally friendly but they way it was handled it hardly used less gas. On the way back I will hire OZOcar. read more

What an unbelievably unprofessional operation. I called ahead of time to ask if it was worth it to get a reservation for pickup from JFK, they said no since they guarantee pickup within 20 minutes once you call. Called at the terminal, and 40 minutes later got a call that the driver was there. At the other end of the terminal. After being berated by the dispatcher that I wasn't inside by the phone waiting for the car or at the Super Shuttle stop (neither of which he originally instructed me to do), I wandered around the terminal for a while, eventually finding an unmarked SUV with a driver who asked "Westchester?" Taking a gamble that this wasn't one of the many scam unlicensed cabbies at JFK, and tired after a 13 hour flight, I got in. The first place the driver got lost was in JFK itself. He apparently forgot how to go to the early terminals first, so he left the airport, got off the highway, got back on, and drove back in to pick up two passengers from an earlier terminal number. Once we were on our way, he drove about 25 mph down the highway most of the way, and then proceeded to get lost in the middle of Westchester County. Yes, the one that is literally in the company's name. Without a GPS or any sense of direction, the driver asked me to figure out a nearby main road that he could get to. Once I realized he didn't even know how to get to Central Park Avenue (he would stop in the middle of every intersection, look, and then seemingly arbitrarily choose a direction), I had to give him turn by turn directions to the house. Eventually we got there, and he told me he needed my credit card again to swipe through one of those old fashioned carbon copy scanners, even though I already gave it to him over the phone. Then he stopped in the middle of the street to dig through the car for a pen. I just hope I'm not drastically overcharged. Total time in the middle of the night with one other passenger and zero traffic from JFK to Edgemont: 1 hour, 45 minutes. AVOID THIS COMPANY. read more

I read the other reviews and they made me laugh. They are spot on. They tell you they are going to pick you up and ask the departure time of the flight. they too, picked me up late, almost missed the cut off time for check in. i told them that the check in time was actually an hour earlier than it actually was. good thing, or i would have missed my flight all together. the shuttle was dirty and the driver was unprofessional. i took them 7/8/13, and will never again. read more

I have been using Westchester Express Airport Shuttle for more than 15 years and I never have a problem with the service, I travel at least three times a year. I use them to take me to the airport and pick me back up when I return. Sometime my ride is like a private ride because I am the only passenger going to the airport at the time. They always pick me up on time. I recommend them to my neighbor and they also have good experience with them. read more

Extremely rude customer service! I used this service for many times in the past. And while not the best, it was ok... Tonight I just called to make a reservation for a trip to the airport tomorrow morning, the lady taking my call was extremely rude, and actually looking for reasons not to book a ride for me... She told me that they'd have to pick me up 3 hours prior to my domestic flight - and in trying to work with her I told her that it is OK if I am picked up 2 hours before... and she kept cutting me, and telling me that this is their policy - while I used this service in the past (not so long ago... ) and this policy was amended as needed, to make rides possible... She was extremely rude, and made me quickly decide to never use their service again. As a frequent traveller, I'd say they just lost business... Not a good experience. read more
